Impact of phase locked loop with different types and control dynamics on resonance of DFIG system

    Get PDF
In recent years, the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) operates in a weak grid, rather than a strong grid due to the high proportion of wind energy into the power grid. The impedance interaction between the DFIG system and series and parallel compensated weak grid might cause the subsynchronous resonance (SSR) and high frequency resonance (HFR) in the DFIG system, respectively. Phase locked loop (PLL) is a popular grid synchronization technique, and the high bandwidth PLL can cause resonance at middle frequencies in the DFIG system. However, the impact of PLL types and their controller dynamics on the resonance in the DFIG system are not adequately researched. The impact of the PLL controller with different types, such as synchronous reference frame (SRF) and Lead/Lag PLL, is studied in this paper to fill this gap. Additionally, an improved PLL is proposed, which can guarantee the high phase margin and decrease the likelihood of the resonance at middle frequencies in the DFIG system under a weak grid. Moreover, the phase margin of the DFIG system impedance with an improved PLL is less sensitive to its controller parameters. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method

Research on flux of dry atmospheric falling dust and its characterization in a subtropical city, Guangzhou, South China

Guangzhou is the central city in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), China, and is one of the most polluted cities in the world. To characterize the ambient falling dust pollution, two typical sampling sites: urban (Wushan) and suburban (University Town) areas in Guangzhou city were chosen for falling dust collection over 1 year at time intervals of 1 or 2 months. The flux of dry deposition was calculated. In addition, mineral composition and morphology of atmospheric falling dust were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and microscopic observation. The results revealed that the dust flux in Guangzhou city was 3.34–3.78 g/(m2 month) during the study period. The main minerals in the dust were quartz, illite, calcite, kaolinite, gypsum, plagioclase, dolomite, and amorphous matter. The morphological types included grained and flaky individual minerals, chain-like aggregates, spherical flying beads, and irregular aggregates, with the chain-like and spherical aggregates indicators of industrial ash. The major dusts were derived from industrial and construction activities. The gypsum present in the dust collected in winter season was not only derived from cement dust but may also have originated from the reaction of calcic material with sulfuric acids resulting from photooxidation of SOx and NOx, which confirmed serious air pollution due to SOx and NOx in Guangzhou. The abatement of fossil fuel combustion emissions and construction dust will have a significant beneficial effect on dust reduction

    A multi-port current-limiting hybrid DC crcuit breaker

Recently the hybrid multi-port DC circuit breaker (MP-DCCB) is becoming popular in protecting HVDC grids, thanks to their re-duction of power electronics devices. In this paper, an enhanced multi-port current-limiting DCCB (MP-CLCB) for multiple line protection is proposed. The integrated fault current limiter (FCL) inside the MP-CLCB can clear the fault faster with slightly in-creased costs. To reduce the energy dissipation requirement for the surge arresters caused by the newly added current-limiting path, an energy transfer path which provides a loop with the in-ductors during the current decay stage is designed. The theoreti-cal analysis of the pre-charging, current-limiting, fault interrup-tion and energy dissipation of the MP-CLCB is carried out. Moreover, the design principles of the energy dissipation and the key parameters of the MP-CLCB are provided. The proposed approaches are verified through simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC. The results show that the MP-CLCB can replace multiple DCCBs, accelerate the fault current interruption and reduce the energy dissipation requirement for the surge arresters

A coordinated control method of voltage and reactive power for active distribution net-works based on soft open point

    Get PDF
The increasing penetration of distributed generators (DGs) exacerbates the risk of voltage violations in active distribu-tion networks (ADNs). The conventional voltage regulation de-vices limited by the physical constraints are difficult to meet the requirement of real-time voltage and VAR control (VVC) with high precision when DGs fluctuate frequently. However, soft open point (SOP), a flexible power electronic device, can be used as the continuous reactive power source to realize the fast voltage regu-lation. Considering the cooperation of SOP and multiple regula-tion devices, this paper proposes a coordinated VVC method based on SOP for ADNs. Firstly, a time-series model of coordi-nated VVC is developed to minimize operation costs and eliminate voltage violations of ADNs. Then, by applying the linearization and conic relaxation, the original nonconvex mixed-integer non-linear optimization model is converted into a mixed-integer sec-ond-order cone programming (MISOCP) model which can be efficiently solved to meet the requirement of voltage regulation rapidity. Case studies are carried out on the IEEE 33-node system and IEEE 123-node system to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

Framework design and optimal bidding strategy for ancillary service provision from a peer-to-peer energy trading community

    Get PDF
As an innovative paradigm for electric power systems with a high penetration of distributed energy resources, peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading enables direct energy trading between end customers, which is able to facilitate local power and energy balance and potentially support the operation of bulk power systems. In this paper, a framework was proposed to enable ancillary service provision from a P2P energy trading community, creating additional value for both customers in the community and power systems. Specifically, an ancillary service provision mechanism was designed along with P2P energy trading and residual balancing mechanisms to enable the power utility to obtain ancillary service from customers in a P2P energy trading community. Furthermore, the optimal bidding strategy of customers was figured out to maximize their benefits in the proposed mechanisms. Simulation studies were conducted based on a residential community in Great Britain. The results show that the proposed ancillary service mechanism can enable the power utility to obtain a significant or required amount of ancillary services of different types. The proposed mechanisms and optimal bidding strategy can achieve Pareto improvement for the revenue of each customer and result in significantly higher social welfare for the whole community. It is also revealed that increasing ancillary service prices and installation rate of electric vehicles can increase the total amount of ancillary service provision and thus bring higher revenue for the customers in the community. By contrast, increasing installation of PV systems does not necessarily increase the amount of service provisio

Development environment construction of medical imaging software 3d slicer

    Get PDF
3D Slicer is an open source software platform for medical image informatics, image processing and 3D visualization. Due to different medical functional requirements, a 3D slicer tailored to the doctor's needs is a great choice for people. However, the development of open source software has some difficulties in environment construction and other aspects. In this paper, after repeated attempts, literature review and research, GitHub download, CMAKE compilation and VS generation of the appropriate version were found. It can quickly build a 3D Slicer programming environment, which is of great significance for the subsequent modification and development of 3D Slicer
