Rheumatoid Arthritis: Severity Classification, Factors Responsible, Pathophysiology, Current and Herbal Treatment

Rheumatoid Arthritis is the autoimmune disorder occurs due to the change in life style, improper diet plans, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption etc. It generally affects the joints and creates swelling and severe pain in joints which leads to further destruction of bone and cartilages. Due to autoimmune responses the factors like Tumor Necrosis Factor-α, Interleukins-1 are introduced to synovial and synovial membrane which creates the swelling and pain. These factors further produce reactive oxygen species and inducing osteoclasts which destruct the bone and cartilages. Along with the drugs the several natural herbal treatments are also available for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This includes varies medicinal plants form which acacia species is more potent and efficient. Acacia Senegal is the plant which blocks the receptors and decreases the level of tumor necrosis factor-α. Oral myiasis of maxilla and mandible: A case report

Oral myiasis is a rare parasitic infestation of the house fly in the oral cavity. It is found in cases of extreme neglect of oral hygiene. Here is a case report of a 24-year-old female patient with history of cerebral palsy since childhood, affected with oral myiasis simultaneously affecting the maxilla as well as mandible. This case reports gives an overview of the clinical features of this distressing disease and also throws light on its treatment with a combination of conventional therapy and new drug Ivermectin

Cone-beam computed tomography: An inevitable investigation in cleidocranial dysplasia

Cleidocranial dysplasia is a heritable skeletal dysplasia and one of the most common features of this syndrome is multiple impacted supernumerary teeth. Cone-beam computed tomography, the most recent advancement in maxillofacial imaging, provides the clinician to view the morphology of the skull and the dentition in all three dimensions and help in treatment planning for the patient

Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma differentiating into odontoma: An old concept revised

Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a benign mixed tumor of odontogenic origin. It generally occurs in children and teenagers; however, cases occurring in the elderly have also been reported. Generally, the tumor is asymptomatic and is discovered accidently on a radiograph taken for an unerupted tooth, but examples of large tumors causing jaw swelling have been reported in literature. This article presents a case of AFO causing jaw expansion with pain and lymphadenopathy in a 17-year-old male. As the final diagnosis is always confirmed by histopathology, this case is a unique one diagnosed by clinical and radiographic findings as an odontoma and suggesting the differentiation of an AFO to odontoma

Leprous macrocheilia: A rare clinical presentation

Oral leprosy, a granulomatous disease is classified under the term oro-facial granulomatosis which comprises a group of diseases characterized by noncaseating granulomas affecting the soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. The most common clinical presentation of oro-facial granulomatous conditions is persistent swelling of one or both lips. Due to its rare incidence and clinical findings overlapping with other granulomatous conditions such as sarcoidosis, Crohn's disease, and cheilitis granulomatosa; it is practically difficult for a dental surgeon to easily diagnose this condition. This study presents a case of leprosy causing macrocheilia as the only clinical presentation and diagnosed initially as Miescher's cheilitis based on exclusion criteria

Prevalence of pneumatized articular tubercle using panoramic radiography and cone beam-computed tomography: A retrospective study

Context: In 1985, Tyndall and Matteson first described the air cells that occur in the root of zygomatic arch and in the articular eminence of the temporal bone but do not extend beyond the zygomaticotemporal suture. Aims: The aim is to study the prevalence and patterns of pneumatized articular tubercle (PAT) retrospectively using two different imaging modalities, i.e., digital panoramic radiography and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Subjects and Methods: Total 3000 panoramic radiographs belonging to 1291 females and 1709 males and CBCT scans of 200 patients belonging to 62 females and 138 males were studied retrospectively and investigated for radiographic features of pneumatized articular tubercle. Results: Prevalence found by using panoramic radiography is 1.96% and by using CBCT is 12.5%. Conclusions: This research scrutinizes the prevalence of pneumatized articular tubercle and establishes the prevalence of the same among the studied population, using panoramic radiography and CBCT

Use of Recycled Plastic as Replacement of Fine Aggregate in Structural Concrete

 Now a days disposal of dissipate plastic is one of the major green problem all above the world. The objective of this review paper is to examine the usefulness of using waste plastic as fine aggregate substitute in concrete mixtures. The compressive and tensile strength of a variety of concrete specimens were tested to establish how the amalgamation of recycled plastic as a replacement of fine aggregate would affect the expansion of strength in the mixes. In this reading plastic waste was mixed with cement concrete in a variety of scope such as 0%-15% and the M20 grade test specimen were casted to learning the behavior of plastic mixed concrete. All stages of plastic replacement show a perceptible diminish in compressive strength and tensile strength
