The basic training in liver surgery on isolated perfused livers used at the workshop in the First Surgical Course of the Alps—Adriatic Hepatobiliary School is presented. The methods for the excision, preservation, perfusion and preparation of the liver are described, as is the manner of manufacturing the upper abdomen moulded casts, into which an isolated perfused liver is placed for training. The methods proved to be sufficiently successful, enabling participants to perform basic liver surgery like an intraoperative ultrasound investigation, as well as liver dissection techniques, liver suturing, segmental resection and even hepatectomy. Some technical improvements are proposed for future surgical workshops, such as washing out the blood from the liver, and a triple perfusion

Proteolytic Activities of Oral Bacteria on ProMMP-9 and the Effect of Synthetic Proteinase Inhibitors

Tissue reactions to bacteria lead to proinflammatory reactions involving matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Synthetic protease inhibitors may offer new possibilities to regulate bacterial proteases. We investigated proteolytic activities of certain periodontal bacteria, their effects on the latent proMMP-9, and the effects of synthetic MMP inhibitors and a serine protease inhibitor Pefabloc. The strains studied were Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Peptostreptoccus micros, Prevotella nigrescens, Fusobacterium nucleatum, and 5 Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans serotypes. Their gelatinolytic activities and the effects of certain synthetic MMP inhibitors and Pefabloc were analyzed by zymography. Bacterial effects on proMMP-9 conversion were investigated by Western immunoblot. All investigated periodontal bacteria produced gelatinolytic cell-bound and extracellular proteinases which could fragment latent proMMP-9, suggesting co-operative processing cascades in oral tissue remodeling. A. actinomycetemcomitans produced the weakest gelatinolytic activity. Synthetic proteinase inhibitors exhibited slight but clear reductive effects on the bacterial proteolytic activities. We conclude that targeted anti-proteolytic treatment modalities against bacterial-host proteolytic cascades can be developed

In recent years, the analysis of sports matches has flourished, leading to the development of additional statistics on teams and team individuals. This also applies to basketball, a sport that is particularly interesting because of its dynamic character. Spatio-temporal data containing data on ball and player positions at a given point in time have thus been added to the play-by-play data containing data on the events during an attack. Moreover, the number of passes between players, the sequence of passes, and the impact of a pass on the success of an attack represent interesting statistical elements obtained from the data. The master’s thesis provides an analysis examining the changes in pass dynamics and team performance in the absence of the best player. We use two of machine learning approaches: hierarchical clustering, based on the graph of passes between player positions and the graph of passes between court areas, and neural networks, where the success of an attack is predicted based on spatio-temporal data and data obtained from the analyses of pass graphs. The results show that team performance is better when the best player is on the court. What is more important, the results of hierarchical clustering indicate that passes between court areas better predict team performance throughout the season than passes between player positions. The accuracy of supervised learning in predicting the success of an attack was 68,25 %

In ta proces zajema vse dele organizacije. - Kako spremljati trende sproti in trgu predstavljati najboljše, najnaprednejše in tehnološko inovativne rešitve? Learning organization! What does this mean? We could say it is a concept of organization in which runs the process of continuous learning, with a goal to achieve its mission and vision. This process covers all parts of the organization. We can therefore say that this is a process that brings together all the important building blocks in the overall story - the story of success. This way we can give answers to questions such as: - How to survive and thrive in a time when telecommunications service providers are faced with a thousand and one challenges due to technological advances and user requirements? - How to monitor market trends and regularly launch the best, most innovative and technologically innovative solutions? The answer could be hidden in the "learning organization", which is in our opinion also Mobitel d.d., where I work. We will try to prove this thesis in the following diploma, where we will first investigate the importance and legitimacy of the concept of learning organization and how Mobitel d. d. approaches to this concept. In the practical part we will analyze a survey carried out among employees and check whether responses confirm our theoretical predictions. Finally, we will add opinion of external expert in the field of education and with that acquire an additional look at the issues studied

Perception of sound rotation velocity: The effect of sound type and measurement method

Vestibular suppression is a phenomenon where the vestibular information is suppressed when a contradictory visual stimulation is present. The aim of the present study was, before conducting a study that would examine whether vestibular suppression can also occur while exposed to sound stimuli, to discover how changes in sound rotation velocity are perceived and what method could yield valid measures of the percepts. An experiment was conducted with 40 participants with normal hearing. Participants were divided into 4 groups in which 2 sound properties (sinusoid wave and speech) and 2methods (adopted global perception method and graph method) were used separately. Sound rotated around participants and changed the velocity. Participants had to report whether they perceived the velocity as constant, accelerated, or decelerated, or they had to draw a graph to indicate their perception. It was found that constant velocity is perceived as slightly decelerated, and this bias in velocity perception was larger with sine sound than with speech, but speech as a property of rotating sound stimulus seems to be too complex. The graph method was very hard for participants to use, and we therefore discourage the use of this method in future. Future studies should use the "estimation-of-change-in-given-time-interval" method and vary the sound rotation velocity in random order
