Perkembangan Larva Brugia Pahangi Pada Beberapa Species Nyamuk di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT:
The development of larvae of Brugia pahangi in several species ofinosquito in the laboratory
Many species of mosquito were made to bite cat which contain microfilaria of Brugia pahangi in infective stage.
Microfilaria will develop to infective stage (L3) in non-cibarial armature mosquitoes and will not in mosquitoes which have cibarial armature. This period depends on the species of mosquitoes. In Armigeres subalbatus we found first, second and third stage larvae on the fourth, sixth and seventh day.

Penentuan Vektor Malaria di Flores
A field study on entomology has been conducted in 6 villages which were located in coastal and in-land areas of Sikka Regency of Central Flores since April 1990 - October 1991. The results of this study showed that the suspected malaria vectors in those areas were An. sundaicus, An. subpictus, An. barbirostris, An. aconitus and An. maculatus. Only 3 species were confirmed as vector using ELISA test, i.e. An. sundaicus, An. barbirostris and An. subpictus with sporosoite rates of 4.2%, 2.1% and 0.1% respectively. An. aconitus, a potential malaria vector in Java and in some onther places was not confirmed as vector in Flores yet. The 3 confirmed vectors were also found positive with sporozoites in West Flores and also found predominant in East Flores
Intestinal Parasites and Malaria in Sukomenanti Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra
Western blot test to detect specific IgG4 and IgE was performed to 12 microfilaraemic and 13 amicrofilaraemic individuals from malayan filariasis endemic area, Pasir Penyu, Riau. No differences in binding patterns of IgG4 and IgE antibodies to microfUarial protein components was shown. There was a parallel protein components recognition by IgG4 and IgE of molecular weight ranging from 158 kd to 14 kd. Protein component of 125 kd was only recognized by IgG4 and of 112 kd only by IgE. These findings suggest that in filarial infection IgG4 antibodies play a role as a blocking antibodies to inhibit the spesific reaction of IgE that is usually expressed as an allergic reaction
Ecology And Infection Rates Of Natural Vectors Of Filariasis In Tanah Intan, South Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia

Background:
People with diabetes have an increased risk of developing active tuberculosis (TB) and are more likely to have poor TB-treatment outcomes, which may impact on control of TB as the prevalence of diabetes is increasing worldwide. Blood transcriptomes are altered in patients with active TB relative to healthy individuals. The effects of diabetes and intermediate hyperglycemia (IH) on this transcriptomic signature were investigated to enhance understanding of immunological susceptibility in diabetes-TB comorbidity.
Methods:
Whole blood samples were collected from active TB patients with diabetes (glycated hemoglobin [HbA1c] ≥6.5%) or IH (HbA1c = 5.7% to <6.5%), TB-only patients, and healthy controls in 4 countries: South Africa, Romania, Indonesia, and Peru. Differential blood gene expression was determined by RNA-seq (n = 249).
Results:
Diabetes increased the magnitude of gene expression change in the host transcriptome in TB, notably showing an increase in genes associated with innate inflammatory and decrease in adaptive immune responses. Strikingly, patients with IH and TB exhibited blood transcriptomes much more similar to patients with diabetes-TB than to patients with only TB. Both diabetes-TB and IH-TB patients had a decreased type I interferon response relative to TB-only patients.
Conclusions:
Comorbidity in individuals with both TB and diabetes is associated with altered transcriptomes, with an expected enhanced inflammation in the presence of both conditions, but also reduced type I interferon responses in comorbid patients, suggesting an unexpected uncoupling of the TB transcriptome phenotype. These immunological dysfunctions are also present in individuals with IH, showing that altered immunity to TB may also be present in this group. The TB disease outcomes in individuals with IH diagnosed with TB should be investigated further.European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7 2007-2013 - Health) under grant agreement No 305279
