Formulation of Foundation Makeup (Liquid) Using D-Optimal Mixture Design

    Get PDF
Formulation of foundation makeup (liquid) was performed using Doptimal mixture design. Design expert software 7.0 was used to set up D-optimal mixture design and 15 formulations were conducted. Each formulation was judged its properties of pH, viscosity, and skin irritation to obtain the most appropriate composition. The optimum formulation of foundation makeup (liquid) was 227.43 ml of deionized water (DI), 1.40 g of carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), 4.37 g of triethanolamine (TEA), 20.94 g of propanediol (PD), 31.84 g of titanium dioxide (TiO2), 5.25 g of iron oxide (Fe3O4), 7.0 g of kaolin (Kao), 1.40 g of methyl paraben (MP), 34.97 ml of mineral oil (MO), 5.25 g of stearic acid (SA), 8.75 g of glyceryl monosterate (GMS) and 1.40 g of propyl paraben (PP) based on its properties of pH 6.93, 1722.3cP of viscosity and 0 of skin irritation. Regarding the evaluation sheet performed by the Hedonic scale test, satisfactory scores of foundation makeup (liquid) was 7.4 out of 9

A Model HACCP Plan for Fish Seasoning Powder Production

    Get PDF
Many kinds of seasoning powder available in market contain high amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in Myanmar. So, natural seasoning powder without MSG from fish and vegetables seasoning powder was considered for safe and healthy product as substitute of MSG. The main aim of this research is to design Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan for fish based seasoning powder production. Local indigenous raw materials such as Ngar-Gyin (Mrigal fish), cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, chinese cabbage, garlic and ginger were used in the formulation of fish based seasoning powder. The prerequisite programs (PRPs), operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs), hazards, critical control point, preventive measure, critical limits, monitoring procedure and corrective actions have been designed in this HACCP plan. A sample generic HACCP plan was recommended. Three Critical Control Points (CCPs) in the processing; cold storage of raw fish; pressure cooking and packaging were identified. A HACCP plan was completed with perquisite programs dealing with the identified hazards

Chemical and Functional Characterizations of Chickpea Protein Concentrate

    Get PDF
Many protein concentrates have been developed for providing different functional or physical properties to meet the requirement of various food systems. The main purpose of this research work was to evaluate the most refined form of protein from chickpea and to combat the problem of malnutrition. In this research work, chickpea (Cicer arientum L.) was collected from Monywa Township, Sagaing  Region and nutritional values of chickpea flour like moisture content, ash content, protein content, crude fiber content, fat content, carbohydrate content and energy value were determined. The fat from chickpea flour was removed by soaking in ethanol and also by soxhlet extraction using ethanol as solvent before isolating the protein. The fat removal efficiency of these two methods were investigated. Moreover, combined effect of these two methods on the removal percentage of fat from chickpea was studied. 46.15±0.04% protein content (defatted chickpea) was obtained by soaking in ethanol solution for 20 hr and followed by soxhlet extraction (meal to solvent ratio were1:6).

Advanced abdominal pregnancy with dead foetus: a case report

Abdominal pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy in which the zygote implanted within the peritoneal cavity exception at ovaries, fallopian tubes and intra ligament spaces. The diagnosis is challenging and can be missed especially when the imaging facilities are not available in remote areas.A 35 years old, G3P2+0 was admitted to the hospital at 38+2 weeks of pregnancy with the chief complaint of reduced foetal movement for three days. She was taking regular antenatal care with the midwife at the rural health centre and uneventful until 37 weeks of pregnancy. On physical examination, the abdomen was distended, the foetal parts were easily palpable, no visible foetal movement and the foetal heart sound was not audible. Abdominal ultrasound scan identified the term foetus of abdominal pregnancy without foetal cardiac activity. The patient underwent laparotomy and dead, male foetus was extracted uneventfully. The placenta was attached to intestines and mesentery so that which was removed with great caution and secured haemostasis. The mother’s condition was stable throughout the operation and did not need to give the blood transfusion. The sutures were removed after 7 days and the healthy patient discharged from the hospital.Abdominal pregnancy is a rare condition and the diagnosis can be missed during the antenatal period and hence it is crucial to raise the awareness of health care personals especially in remote areas. The suspicious case of abdominal pregnancy should be referred to the experienced clinicians in the centres with diagnosis facilities

Partition triples: A tool for reduction of data sets

    Get PDF
Data sets discussed in this paper are presented as tables with rows corresponding to examples (entities, objects) and columns to attributes. A partition triple is defined for such a table as a triple of partitions on the set of examples, the set of attributes, and the set of attribute values, respectively, preserving the structure of a table. The idea of a partition triple is an extension of the idea of a partition pair, introduced by J. Hartmanis and J. Steams in automata theory. Results characterizing partition triples and algorithms for computing partition triples are presented. The theory is illustrated by an example of an application in machine learning from examples.
