    Effects of Universal Extra Dimensions on Higgs signals at LHC

    A major focus at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be Higgs boson studies and it would be an interesting prospect to simultaneously probe for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in the Higgs signals. In this work we show as to what extent, the effects of Universal Extra Dimension (UED) can be isolated at the LHC through the Higgs signals. By doing a detailed study of the different uncertainties involved in the measurement of the rates for the process pp --> h --> gamma gamma we estimate the extent to which these uncertainties can mask the effects of the contributions coming from UED.Comment: 13 pages, LateX, Title changed, text and figures modified.     Distribution of periodic points of polynomial diffeomorphisms of C^2

    This paper deals with the dynamics of a simple family of holomorphic diffeomorphisms of \C^2: the polynomial automorphisms. This family of maps has been studied by a number of authors. We refer to [BLS] for a general introduction to this class of dynamical systems. An interesting object from the point of view of potential theory is the equilibrium measure μ\mu of the set KK of points with bounded orbits. In [BLS] μ\mu is also characterized dynamically as the unique measure of maximal entropy. Thus μ\mu is also an equilibrium measure from the point of view of the thermodynamical formalism.     In this talk we discuss recent progress concerning precise predictions for the LHC. We give a status report of three applications of our method to deal with multi-leg one-loop amplitudes: The interference term of Higgs production by gluon- and weak boson fusion to order O(alpha^2 alpha_s^3) and the next-to-leading order corrections to the two processes pp -> ZZ jet and u ubar -> d dbar s sbar.     Dimension of the Torelli group for Out(F_n)

    Let T_n be the kernel of the natural map from Out(F_n) to GL(n,Z). We use combinatorial Morse theory to prove that T_n has an Eilenberg-MacLane space which is (2n-4)-dimensional and that H_{2n-4}(T_n,Z) is not finitely generated (n at least 3). In particular, this recovers the result of Krstic-McCool that T_3 is not finitely presented. We also give a new proof of the fact, due to Magnus, that T_n is finitely generated.Comment: 27 pages, 9 figure

    Testing Gluino Spin with Three-Body Decays

    We examine the possibility of distinguishing a supersymmetric gluino from a Kaluza-Klein gluon of universal extra dimensions (UED) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We focus on the case when all kinematically allowed tree-level decays of this particle are 3-body decays into two jets and a massive daughter (typically weak gaugino or Kaluza-Klein weak gauge boson). We show that the shapes of the dijet invariant mass distributions differ significantly in the two models, as long as the mass of the decaying particle mA is substantially larger than the mass of the massive daughter mB. We present a simple analysis estimating the number of events needed to distinguish between the two models under idealized conditions. For example, for mA/mB=10, we find the required number of events to be of order several thousand, which should be available at the LHC within a few years. This conclusion is confirmed by a parton level Monte Carlo study which includes the effects of experimental cuts and the combinatoric background.Comment: 19 pages, 10 figure

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat besarnya pendapatan USAhatani sayuran di Kecamatan Sungai Gelam Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Pemilihan lokasi penelitian dilakukan dengan sengaja atas dasar pertimbangan bahwa di Kecamatan Sungai Gelam merupakan salah satu daerah yang mengusahakan sayuran terbesar di Kabupaten Muaro Jambi.Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah petani sayuran di Kecamatan Sungai Gelam Kabupaten Muaro Jambi.Penelitian dilakukan dari tanggal 10 September 2014 sampai dengan tanggal 10 Oktober 2014 dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Rata – rata pendapatan USAhatani sayuran petani responden di daerah penelitian yaitu Rp. 21.673.293,87 /Tahun dengan rata – rata luas lahan sebesar 0,26 ha. Data ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan USAhatani sayuran yang dilakukan petani di Kecamatan Sungai Gelam Masih berskala kecil.Pendapatan USAhatani sayuran di daerah penelitian secara nyata dipengaruhi oleh variabel luas lahan dan modal dengan nilai koefisien positif.Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi luas lahan dan modal yang digunakan, maka pendapatan USAhatani sayuran tinggi.Sedangkan tenaga kerja tidak memberikan pengaruh secara nyata terhadap pendapatan USAhatani sayuran

    One-loop central-emission vertex for two gluons in N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory

    A necessary ingredient for extending the BFKL equation to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy is the one-loop central emission vertex (CEV) for two gluons which are not strongly ordered in rapidity. Here we consider the one-loop six-gluon amplitude in N=4\mathcal{N}=4 super Yang-Mills (SYM) theory in a central next-to-multi-Regge kinematic (NMRK) limit, we show that its dispersive part factorises in terms of the two-gluon CEV, and we use it to extract the one-loop two-gluon CEV for any helicity configuration within this theory. This is a component of the two-gluon CEV in QCD. Although computed in the NMRK limit, both the colour structure and the kinematic dependence of the two-gluon CEV capture much of the complexity of the six-gluon amplitudes in general kinematics. In fact, the transcendental functions of the latter can be conveniently written in terms of impact factors, trajectories, single-emission CEVs and a remainder, which is a function of the conformally invariant cross ratios which characterise the six-gluon amplitudes in planar N=4\mathcal{N}=4 SYM. Finally, as expected, in the MRK limit the two-gluon CEV neatly factorises in terms of two single-emission CEVs.Comment: 85 pages, 13 figure

    Geometry, topology and dynamics of geodesic flows on noncompact polygonal surfaces

    We establish the background for the study of geodesics on noncompact polygonal surfaces. For illustration, we study the recurrence of geodesics on ZZ-periodic polygonal surfaces.     Polynomial diffeomorphisms of C^2, IV: The measure of maximal entropy and laminar currents

    This paper concerns the dynamics of polynomial automorphisms of C2{\bf C}^2. One can associate to such an automorphism two currents μ±\mu^\pm and the equilibrium measure μ=μ+μ\mu=\mu^+\wedge\mu^-. In this paper we study some geometric and dynamical properties of these objects. First, we characterize μ\mu as the unique measure of maximal entropy. Then we show that the measure μ\mu has a local product structure and that the currents μ±\mu^\pm have a laminar structure. This allows us to deduce information about periodic points and heteroclinic intersections. For example, we prove that the support of μ\mu coincides with the closure of the set of saddle points. The methods used combine the pluripotential theory with the theory of non-uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems
