"With 1 follower I must be AWESOME :P". Exploring the role of irony markers in irony recognition

Conversations in social media often contain the use of irony or sarcasm, when the users say the opposite of what they really mean. Irony markers are the meta-communicative clues that inform the reader that an utterance is ironic. We propose a thorough analysis of theoretically grounded irony markers in two social media platforms: TwitterTwitter and RedditReddit. Classification and frequency analysis show that for TwitterTwitter, typographic markers such as emoticons and emojis are the most discriminative markers to recognize ironic utterances, while for RedditReddit the morphological markers (e.g., interjections, tag questions) are the most discriminative.Comment: ICWSM 201

Students believe that a diploma achieved in a economic faculty could help them in finding a good job. The competition in labor force market increasing and give advantages to employers in attracting good capacities and knowledge. Students believe that a work experience along the period of higher education process could be a good start for being employed. The most important weaknesses identified by graduates are: tools and methods of teaching process and the content of textbooks or study materials. The students appreciate as important for higher education system the novelty of the knowledge share in the process and the practical characteristics of the its. The graduates are satisfied by the novelty level of the knowledge and information share but the examination model and practical characteristics seems to be inappropriate. In conclusion the Romanian higher education has to apply the reform started in this sector not only with regulation and curricula changes but also with the opportunities offer to the staff in order to become professionals in teaching and forming activities. Scherk-Schwarz orbifolds at the LHC

    Get PDF
We examine orbifold theories of Grand Unification with Scherk-Schwarz twisting, performing a renormalisation group analysis and applying low energy experimental constraints. We rule out the minimal SU(5) models, and consider simple extensions including additional fields, such as an additional scalar field, or additional symmetries, such as SU(5)×U(1)SU(5)\times U(1) or E6E_6. We find that it is very difficult to generate a large enough Higgs mass while simultaneously passing LHC experimental search constraints.Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures; v3: Version accepted for publication; v4: Typos correcte

The results of authors’ demarche were materialised in both theoretical and practical considerations, presumptively useful for the specialists in the field of environment management, university environment and business environment.good practices, environmental performance, SMEs, system of management, quality

Should Dracula Myth be a Brand to Promote Romania as a Tourist Destination?

    Get PDF
Dracula is an international brand, not a Romanian one. But Bram Stocker chose to locate his vampire in the mysterious location of Transylvania. Thus, Romania is the only country in the world which can exploit the myth of Dracula as being at its ‘home’. This could be considered a competitive advantage for Romania as a tourist destination. The vampire named Dracula generates mixed, mainly negative, feelings among Romanians. And maybe – for the 21st century – can become a character falling in desuetude. Though, the question remains: should the Dracula myth be used as a brand promoting Romania as a tourist destination? The present paper tries to find an answer to this controversial question.brand, Dracula, tourism, destination, product, Romania

PASSING FROM ACCOUNTING TO FISCAL DEPRECIATION

The perception and calculation of depreciation is an issue with taximplications. The terms under which such issue is settled are reflected in the ordinary usedurations, in the depreciation regimes opposable to economic agents, implicitly in the deductibilitydegree of depreciation in establishing the taxable income and the value considered upondepreciation calculation. From the fiscal viewpoint, decentralization in establishing the use duration imposes auauthorized control that should moderate the company policy in establishing reduced use durations, and, implicitly, reduced durations of asset depreciation. The durations applied by companies must befiscally approved. The depreciation durations approved by the tax authorities are in most cases fiscaldurations, which differ from accounting durations.depreciation, depreciation regime, ordinary use durations
