On the WW-algebra in the Calegero-Sutherland model using the Exchange operators

    Get PDF
We study the W∞W_\infty algebra in the Calegero-Sutherland model using the exchange operators. The presence of all the sub-algebras of W∞W_\infty is shown in this model. A simplified proof for this algebra, in the symmetric ordered basics, is given. It is pointed out that the algebra contains in general, nonlinear terms. Possible connection to the nonlinear W∞W_\infty is discussed.Comment: Plain Tex, no figures, 13 page

Wave packet dynamics of the matter wave field of a Bose-Einstein condensate

We show in the framework of a tractable model that revivals and fractional revivals of wave packets afford clear signatures of the extent of departure from coherence and from Poisson statistics of the matter wave field in a Bose-Einstein condensate, or of a suitably chosen initial state of the radiation field propagating in a Kerr-like medium.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, RevTeX

Effect of Gyroscopic Couple on Aircraft Landing Gear Shimmy

    Get PDF
This article presents the effect of gyroscopic couples on the shimmy response of landing gear. The gyroscopic effect between the rotational motions of the aircraft’s longitudinal and vertical axes may be one of the causes of shimmy. The vertical load acting on the wheel axle plays a significant role in a tire’s dynamic characteristics, which may influence shimmy oscillation. So, vertical dynamics also need to be considered for shimmy analysis along with lateral and torsional modes. Suitable mathematical models are required to study the system’s shimmy oscillation and stability nature. The mathematical model was developed by introducing a gyroscopic couple with 5 degrees of freedom (DOF). A numeric analysis was made to investigate the influence of gyroscopic couples on the landing gear model. The simulation results of the model with and without gyroscopic couple are compared and the effect of each parameter on shimmy is studied

EFFECT OF SILYMARIN ON INTESTINAL ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE LEVEL IN A RAT MODEL OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS: STREPTOZOTOCIN AND HIGH-FAT DIET TREATED WISTAR RATS

Objective: This research elucidated the role of silymarin on intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) level in type 2 diabetic rats. Methods: The type 2 diabetes mellitus was induced by a high-fat diet (HFD - 58% calories fat) for 2 weeks, and rats were intraperitoneally injected with streptozotocin (STZ) 35 mg/kg. Wistar rats were divided into four groups. Group I served as a non-diabetic (normal), Group II served as diabetic, Group III diabetic animals treated glibenclamide 600 μg/kg for 14 days, and Group IV diabetic animal treated with glibenclamide and silymarin 50 mg/kg/twice/d for 14 days. At the end of the study, blood glucose, lipid profile, and IAP level were measured. Results: A significant decrease in IAP, elevated levels of blood glucose, and lipid profile was seen in diabetic rats when compared with normal. The silymarin treatment showed a significant increase in IAP level, a significant reduction in glucose and lipid profile than diabetic rats. Conclusion: The present study concludes that silymarin treatment enhances the IAP levels which protect against hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and vascular complications in diabetic rats

Numerical Simulations of Flow in a 3-D Supersonic Intake at High Mach Numbers

    Get PDF
Numerical simulations of the compressible, 3-D non reacting flow in the engine inlet sectionof a concept hypersonic air-breathing vehicle are presented. These simulations have been carriedout using FLUENT. For all the results reported, the mesh has been refined to achieve areaaveragedwall y+ about 105. Mass flow rate through the intake and stagnation pressure recoveryare used to compare the performance at various angles of attack. The calculations are able topredict the mode of air-intake operation (critical and subcritical) for different angles of attack.Flow distortion at the intake for various angles of attack is also calculated and discussed. Thenumerical results are validated by simulating the flow through a 2-D mixed compression hypersonicintake model and comparing with the experimental data

Durability Evaluation in Concrete Using Cracked Permeability and Chloride Permeability Tests

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to identify the possibilities of utilizing the quarry dust in concrete to obtain an improved strength and durability properties of concrete. In the present study, the addition of quarry dust as alternative for natural sand has been investigated, and the durability properties of concrete were evaluated systematically by means of cracked water permeability and rapid chloride permeability tests. The permeability of concrete was assessed with initial stress applied to the concrete specimen and later checked for water permeability. Concrete mixes were casted using ordinary river sand and compared with 100% quarry dust substituted concrete. The addition of quarry dust significantly improved the concrete matrix properties in terms of strength and permeability resistance. The addition of fine quarry dust in concrete resulted in improved matrix densification compared to conventional concrete. Matrix densification has been studied qualitatively through petrographical examination using digital optical microscopy

Hyper Market Industry in Dubai – An Evaluation Using AHP Technique

    Get PDF
Among all retail formats hypermarket is growing very fast in UAE that is at the rate of 150 percent. The major players in this sector are Carrefour, Spinney’s, United, Choithram and Lulu. The focus of the problem is selecting a best hypermarket among the existing operators of Dubai andfor which we used seven major criteria for evaluating the hypermarkets such as product availabilityand variety, market coverage, channel density, customer density, nationality served, facilities andservices and customer spending pattern. We used Analytic hierarchy process (AHP), developed byThomas saaty (1980) to provide a simple but theoretically sound multiple criteria methodology forevaluating the alternatives

Acceptance of technology by parent fraternity as a means of remote learning for children: An empirical study

    Get PDF
The main purpose of this empirical study is to understand how acceptance of technology is prevailing among the parent fraternity that helps them to develop a positive attitude towards using technology as a tool to enhance their ward’s learning process. A survey among 6361 parents (Indian origin) of primary school students (Kindergarten and primary level) regarding their perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use regarding technology-assisted learning for their wards to understand how these factors influence their attitude towards technology for learning in the future was carried out through an online questionnaire.  The result showed that the more parents found the Usage of Technology towards the e-learning process of their wards, the higher they tend to adopt the technology by exhibiting a positive Attitude towards Technology while the perception of Ease of Use of Technology also significantly predicted the perception of Attitude towards Technology.  The favourable Attitude towards Technology is more visible among the parents of students who are of lower levels of study as compared to those who are at a slightly higher level of study.  It is found that the parents of the student from the rural area schools possessed positive Attitudes towards Technology as compared to their counterparts in the urban areas. The outcome of this study is of greater relevance to the schools especially in the lower level classes to help students to harness technology from a young age because the parent fraternity is already in favour of such initiative
