    A Regression Study of Salary Determinants in Indian Job Markets for Entry Level Engineering Graduates

    The economic liberalisation of Indian markets in early 90s boosted the economic growth of the nation in various sectors over the next two decades. One such sector that has seen a massive growth in this time is Information Technology (IT). The IT industry has played a very crucial role in transforming India from a slow moving economy to one of the largest exporters of IT services. This growth created a huge demand in the labour markets for skilled labour, which in turn made engineering one of the top choices of study after high school over the years. In addition, the earning potential and an opportunity to contribute to technology advancements after engineering, makes it a popular choice of study. These growth dynamics along with the diversified education and labour markets demands gives insight into the factors affecting the employment outcomes of engineering students. This research study focuses on studying the key salary determinants for entry-level engineering graduates in India Labour Markets. The research examined the impact of demographics, academic performance, personality traits and standardised test scores on the starting salary. The research findings indicated that the academic performance in school and college, college reputation, school affiliation and engineering major are key predictors for starting salary. The findings also revealed that Cognitive skills English and Quantitative ability along with a desire to do a task well are significant contributors to the starting salary of engineering graduates in Indian Labour Markets

    Inter-cell interference mitigation using Intelligent Frequency Allocation-Dynamic Power Allocation in LTE systems

    Traditionally, all new emerging wireless technologies require wider bands than the existing ones. However, the frequency spectrum is a limited resource and to be utilized more efficiently. Therefore, the scarcity of the spectrum is a major problem that plays most important role in the growth of wireless communications and cost billion dollars business. Interference is an unwanted component of several of signals transmitted from different transmitters in wireless communication systems. In LTE system which uses reuse factor of one, which require whole available spectrum is used in each cell of the network. The areas falls in interference power dominant in comparison to required signal power. In the paper, Intelligent Frequency Allocation-Dynamic Power Allocation (IFA-DPA) is proposed. The algorithm is implemented on Cost-231 propagation model, The results obtained are very much promising to the inter-cell interference problem LTE networks and proved its usefulness

    Synthesis and superconductivity of new BiS2 based superconductor PrO0.5F0.5BiS2

    We report synthesis and superconductivity at 3.7K in PrO0.5F0.5BiS2. The newly discovered material belongs to the layered sulfide based REO0.5F0.5BiS2 compounds having ZrCuSiAs type structure. The bulk polycrystalline compound is synthesized by vacuum encapsulation technique at 7800C in single step. Detailed structural analysis has shown that the as synthesized PrO0.5F0.5BiS2 is crystallized in tetragonal P4/nmm space group with lattice parameters a = 4.015(5) {\AA}, c = 13.362(4) {\AA}. Bulk superconductivity is observed in PrO0.5F0.5BiS2 below 4K from magnetic and transport measurements. Electrical transport measurements showed superconducting transition temperature (Tc) onset at 3.7K and Tc ({\rho}=0) at 3.1K. Hump at Tc related to superconducting transition is not observed in heat capacity measurement and rather a Schottky-type anomaly is observed at below ~6K. The compound is slightly semiconducting in normal state.     Superconductivity at 5K in NdO0.5F0.5BiS2

    We report appearance of superconductivity at 5K in NdO0.5F0.5BiS2 and supplement the discovery [1] of the same in layered sulfide based ZrCuSiAs type compounds. The bulk polycrystalline compound is synthesized by conventional solid state route via vacuum encapsulation technique. Detailed structural analysis showed that the studied compound is crystallized in tetragonal P4/nmm space group with lattice parameters a = 3.9911(3) {\AA}, c = 13.3830(2) {\AA}. Bulk superconductivity is established in NdO0.5F0.5BiS2 at 5K by both transport and magnetic measurements. Electrical transport measurements showed superconducting Tc onset at 5.2K and Tc ({\rho}=0) at 4.7K. Under applied magnetic field both Tc onset and Tc ({\rho} =0) decrease to lower temperatures and an upper critical field [Hc2(0)] of above 23kOe is estimated. Both AC and DC magnetic susceptibility measurements showed bulk superconductivity below 5K. Isothermal magnetization (MH) exhibited typical type II behavior with lower critical field (Hc1) of around 15Oe.     A study on prescribing pattern of antibiotics in medicine ward of tertiary care teaching hospital

    Background: Antibiotics are most frequently prescribed and problem associated with antibiotics over and under use leads to treatment failure and on the other side resistance to drugs increases. Assessment of antibiotics prescribed is important for checking quality and standard of prescriptions. The objective of the study was done for assessing the prescribing pattern of antibiotics using WHO indicator in medicine ward of tertiary care teaching hospital.Methods: Prospective observational study was carried out for a period of six months in medicine ward after ethical committee approval. Data was collected in data collection forms and evaluated using WHO indicator.Results: A total of 190 prescriptions was collected in which 1145 drugs were prescribed. Total number of antibiotics in prescription was found to be 164. Percentage of antibiotics was found to be 14.32% which was according to WHO prescribing indicator. Various class of antibiotics was prescribed in which cephalosporin with total of 90 (54.87%) followed by penicillin 18 (10.97), macrolide 18 (10.97%) fluoroquinolones 11 (6.70%), nitroimidazole 8 (4.87%), amino glycoside 8 (4.87%) and other classes 11 (6.70%).Conclusions: The study shows that pattern of antibiotics was according to the WHO prescribing indicator but still practice was lacking in terms of selection of antibiotics as there was no culture sensitivity test was performed

    Role of MgO impurity on the superconducting properties of MgB2

    We address the effect of MgO impurity on the superconducting properties of MgB2. The synthesis of MgB2 is very crucial because of sensitivity of Mg to oxidation which may lead to MgO as a secondary phase. Rietveld refinement was performed to determine the quantitative volume fraction of MgO in the samples synthesized by two different techniques. Both the samples were subjected to magnetization measurements under dc and ac applied magnetic fields and the observed results were compared as a function of temperature. Paramagnetic Meissner effect has been observed in a sample of MgB2 having more amount of MgO (with Tc = 37.1K) whereas the pure sample MgB2 having minor quantity of MgO shows diamagnetic Meissner effect with Tc = 38.8K. M-H measurements at 10K reveal a slight difference in irreversibility field which is due to MgO impurity along with wide transition observed from ac magnetic susceptibility measurements. The magnetotransport measurements R(T)H using RN = 90%, 50% and 10% criterion on pure sample of MgB2 has been used to determine the upper critical field whereas the sample having large quantity of MgO does not allow these measurements due to its high resistance.Comment: 15 pages text + Fig

    Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is the most commonly encountered glomerular diseases in the child. One of the major problems in this disorder is hyper coagulopathy and increased risk of thrombosis. The cause of thrombosis is related to an imbalance of coagulation and anticoagulation factors. A 3-year-old female patient admitted in the pediatric ward with chief complaints is swelling over the face, hand, and legs from 10-12 days and mild pain in the abdomen 2-3 episode. While there are several more common causes of abdominal pain in children with nephrotic syndrome. This study reports that swelling over the face, hand, and legs.     A prospective observational study of prescription pattern of antihypertensive drugs in general medicine outpatient department of associated hospital RUHS CMS, Jaipur

    Background: The increasing prevalence of hypertension is attributed to population growth, ageing and behavioural risk factors, such as unhealthy diet, harmful use of alcohol, lack of physical activity, excess weight and exposure to persistent stress. The aim of study is the prescribing pattern and the consumption of antihypertensive drugs in isolated hypertensive patients and in hypertensive patients with different co-existing morbidities. Methods: The present study is a Prospective observational study. The study was conducted at Medicine Department of associated hospital of RUHS College of Medical Sciences, Jaipur. Results: A total of 965 patients having hypertension were analyzed, in that 556 patients were male and 409 patients were female. In hypertension patients, angiotensin receptor blockers ARB, diuretics and β- blockers (29.90%) were mostly used classes in three drug therapy. Whereas telmisartan, hydrochlorothiazide and metoprolol (35.05%) were mostly prescribed. Drugs. In hypertension patients, angiotensin receptor blockers ARB, diuretics, β- blockers and calcium channel blockers (56.67%) and calcium channel blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, β-blockers and diuretics (43.33%) were used classes in four drug therapy. Whereas Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, Nebivolol and Amlodipine (62.5%) were mostly prescribed drugs. Hypertensive Patients with Comorbidity were found in higher prevalence with 276 hypertensive patients (28.60%) along with Diabetes Mellitus most commonly found and 389 hypertensive patients (40.31%) were found to be with No Comorbidity. Conclusions: Present results reveal that antihypertensive medication adherence to JNC-8 recommendations is suboptimal. Therefore, physicians should follow JNC-8 guidelines to improve the patients care because suboptimal adherence leads to adverse clinical outcomes. The present study demonstrated that physicians are not completely adhering to standard guidelines while treating hypertension with co-morbid conditions
