Predicting Anchor Links between Heterogeneous Social Networks

People usually get involved in multiple social networks to enjoy new services or to fulfill their needs. Many new social networks try to attract users of other existing networks to increase the number of their users. Once a user (called source user) of a social network (called source network) joins a new social network (called target network), a new inter-network link (called anchor link) is formed between the source and target networks. In this paper, we concentrated on predicting the formation of such anchor links between heterogeneous social networks. Unlike conventional link prediction problems in which the formation of a link between two existing users within a single network is predicted, in anchor link prediction, the target user is missing and will be added to the target network once the anchor link is created. To solve this problem, we use meta-paths as a powerful tool for utilizing heterogeneous information in both the source and target networks. To this end, we propose an effective general meta-path-based approach called Connector and Recursive Meta-Paths (CRMP). By using those two different categories of meta-paths, we model different aspects of social factors that may affect a source user to join the target network, resulting in the formation of a new anchor link. Extensive experiments on real-world heterogeneous social networks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method against the recent methods.Comment: To be published in "Proceedings of the 2016 IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining (ASONAM)

Bone scintigraphy elucidates different metabolic stages of melorheostosis

Melorheostosis is a rare benign non-hereditary sclerosing dysplasia involving the bone, often in a sclerotomal distribution. we report the case of a 27 years old lady with painful swelling of the left hand and forearm lasting for almost 15 years. The patient experienced aggravation of symptoms and limitation of motion during the past two months. Radiographic assessment revealed hyperostosis involving the left 3rd and 4th metacarpal bones and corresponding digits as well as the left ulna and distal humerus, with no soft tissue ossification. Angiographic and blood pool images of bone scintigraphy showed increased activity of mid-metacarpal region, corresponding to the sclerotom C-8. Delayed static views showed increased radiotracer uptake of the left 4th metacarpal bone and the corresponding digit as well as the left ulna and humerus, but no abnormal osteoblastic activity of the 3rd left metacarpal and digit. Histopathologic assessment confirmed the diagnosis of Melorheostosis. The case confirms that even in the same sclerotomal distribution, the multiple foci of involvement can present in different metabolic stages. In fact, the disease does not progress uniformly and different lesions can be seen in dissimilar stages of activity. Hence, metabolic imaging can be important to unmask which of the radiographically detected bony lesions are metabolically active and have the potential to be the source of current patient's symptoms and which of them are old, metabolically inactive and silent lesions, which are not clinically relevant to the patient's complaints

Trade Partner Diversification and Growth: How Trade Links Matter

    Get PDF
We analyze the e ects of a country\u27s export connections on its income growth using Trade Partner Diversi cation (TPD) measures that capture the country\u27s relative importance in the international trade network. On top of the standard trade openness measures, TPD measures are shown to enter growth regressions positively and significantly, where one standard deviation increase in TPD is associated with a 1 to 1.5 percentage point increase in the annual growth rate. Threshold analyses show that TPD measures are positively and significantly correlated with growth in countries that have low financial depth, high inflation, low levels of human capital, or high trade openness

Title: Are K2 guidelines sufficient and credible for credit assessments? Course: BUSN69 Degree Project – Master of Accounting and Auditing Authors: Ali Mansour Firouz & Sina Attaran Advisor: Dr. Amanda Tan-Sonnerfeldt Five key words: Credit assessment, Financial statements, K2 guidelines, Banks, Auditing Purpose: To what degree do K2 guidelines affect the usefulness of the financial reports for banks making credit assessments for companies reporting according to K2. Methodology: Throughout the completion of the thesis, a qualitative method has been used with interviews as a primary source. Additionally, a triangulation in the form of audit firms as expert interviews has been corroborated. The secondary sources used are articles, literature and information located on the Internet. Theoretical perspectives: The use of theory in this study has not been to develop but to understand the phenomena of the usefulness of the reports to the banks. Therefore we have drawn from several theories and described the regulatory environment and literature review to try to explain and understand this phenomena. Empirical foundation: The empirical foundation of this thesis is based on interviews with seven banks and four audit firms as expert interviews. Conclusion: K2 guidelines do not affect the usefulness of the financial reports to any large extent, as there is much more information found outside of the regulation that is of importance to banks making credit assessments

Assessment of Soil-Nailed Excavations Seismic Failure under Cyclic Loading and Pseudo-Static forces

In this paper two numerical analysis methods (i.e. cyclic time history and pseudo-static) are applied to simulate the seismic behaviour and failure mechanism of soil-nailed structures. The numerical simulations are performed by using a finite difference software (Flac). Nevada sand soil parameters are used and construction sequences of nailed-structures are simulated prior to the cyclic and pseudo-static analyses. The results revealed that the failure pattern of two kinds of analyses are approximately similar and comprised of bilinear sliding surfaces. Furthermore, good agreement is found between failure pattern of two types of numerical analyses and previous experimental tests. based on comparison between facing displacements in two considered analysis methods, a simple process is presented to achieve the seismic coefficient consistent with the peak ground acceleration. Presentation of considered method is based on supposition that failure occurs at the constant pullout displacement of bottom-row nails for both analysis methods

Policies on Regulatory Reform in Indonesia: Some Proposals

    Get PDF
After the reformation, the number of laws and regulations has continued to increase. In the period 2000-2017, there were 35,901 regulations have been issued. The highest number is Regional Regulations, which are as many as 14,225 Regional Regulations, followed by a Ministerial Regulation at 11,873. In the third place, there were 3,163 regulations from non-ministerial institutions. This study has main objectives of finding policy choices in an effort to simplify and identify regulations as an agenda for legal reform. This research is a normative juridical research. The data used are secondary data, which includes primary and secondary legal materials, in the form of relevant legislation, as examples of regulations that are out of sync, incoherent, and potentially overlapping. This study concluded that the regulatory reform agenda can be carried out by three means, i.e. (1) Regulatory simplification (2) Reconceptualization of understanding regulatory needs and (3) synergies between regulators. There must be also some reformation between actual practice and long term frameworks on regulation making process and regulation itself. That is because effective regulation is not just predicated on technical information-capturing capabilities (and the experience) of the regulator

Study of the Role of Personality Factors in Organizational Citizenship Behaviors

    Get PDF
Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) as a non-mandatory cooperation with others significantly influences an organization’s performance and social capital. In this paper it has been attempted to study the role of personality traits based on the Big Five model namely, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism in the performing of organizational citizenship behavior, while Altruism, civic virtue, organizational conscientiousness, courtesy and sportsmanship were regarded as the main OCB dimensions. Correlation analysis on data from 56 employees of “Bank Mellat” of Tehran, revealed that there was a significant relationship between personality characteristics and OCB. The present study suggests that conscientiousness, agreeableness and emotional stability positively affect OCB. Also according to the regression model conscientiousness is the best factor to predict OCB. The current research demonstrates that neuroticism is negatively related to OCB, since it diminishes a person's ability to avoid complaining while facing organizational problems
