Between strike and locaute: ethè in dispute for the place of truth in the ideological scenographies that paralyzed Brazil
The chaos caused by the road stoppage in Brazil in May 2018 has put in dispute forces that validate themselves in a mediatic enunciative scenario that use fear as a trigger to perpetuate themselves in the collective imagination. In this article we will emphasize the news about an institutional video produced in 2017 by the Federation of Freight Transportation Companies of the state of São Paulo (FETCESP), which supported part of the arguments of the Federal Government to defend the thesis that the stoppage was about a locaute, not a strike. The objective of this work is to analyze the media discourse around the video, whose ethos contributed to the conception of a scenography intended by the government, as opposed to the general strike scenario advocated by the unions. Bateson (1987), in interaction with the studies of the emotions of Damásio and Ekman, anchored in the semiology of Bakhtin (VOLOCHINÓV, 2017) are used as a theoretical contribution. The main theoretical framework for discourse analysis is that of the French school, in particular the scenography and ethos categories of Dominique Maingueneau (2008, 2008b, 2013). The research is exploratory, it is bibliographical, with a qualitative approach. The analysis of the information directs the partial results that the discursive ethos is supported in enunciative scenographies that elicits the fear to generate adherence to the dominant ideology, that Michael Taylor (2006) will call the ideology of the disconnection.
The main aim of this paper is to analyze the locational factors of urbanization in State of São Paulo (Brazil) between 2000 and 2005. Using a micro-regional database, we apply a set of techniques: a) the method shift-share (Esteban-Marquillas), b) Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluste Analysisr. The main results indicate that the process of occupation of the countryside by economic activities and migration (began in the late 70s) has directly benefited the micro-regions of Campinas, São José dos Campos, Sorocaba, Ribeirão Preto, Santos and Jundiaí. The effects of this process have spilled over to the surrounding regions, creating the present competitive and locational advantages, and forming urban agglomerations in the State area.Locational factors; Internalization of the industry; Shift-share; Multivariate Analysis; Brazil.
From center-vortex ensembles to the confining flux tube
In this review, we discuss the present status of the description of confining
flux tubes in SU(N) pure Yang-Mills theory in terms of ensembles of percolating
center vortices. This is based on three main pillars: modelling in the
continuum the ensemble components detected in the lattice, the derivation of
effective field representations, and contrasting the associated properties with
Monte Carlo lattice results. The integration of the present knowledge about
these points is essential to get closer to a unified physical picture for
confinement. Here, we shall emphasize the last advances, which point to the
importance of including the nonoriented center-vortex component and non-Abelian
degrees when modelling the center-vortex ensemble measure. These inputs are
responsible for the emergence of topological solitons and the possibility of
accommodating the asymptotic scaling properties of the confining string
tension
Prospecting effective Yang-Mills-Higgs models for the asymptotic confining flux tube
In this work, we analyze a large class of effective Yang-Mills-Higgs models
constructed in terms of adjoint scalars. In particular, we reproduce asymptotic
properties of the confining string, suggested by lattice simulations of
pure Yang-Mills theory, in models that are stable in the whole range of
Higgs-field mass parameters. These properties include -ality, Abelian-like
flux-tube profiles, independence of the profiles with the -ality of the
quark representation, and Casimir scaling. We find that although these models
are formulated in terms of many fields and possible Higgs potentials, a
collective behavior can be established in a large region of parameter space,
where the desired asymptotic behavior is realized.Comment: 24 pages, 1 figur
