Ethical aspects in managing patients diagnosed with digestive cancers; a review of literature

    Get PDF
Numerous bioethical recommendations are now available in the complex process of communication with cancer patients. In this review, we have focused on the complex process of managing patients with different types of oncologic digestive diseases, immediately after the diagnosis is made. We have analyzed the literature data on the topic. MEDSCAPE and PubMed databases have been studied. Issues such as telling the truth to patients with digestive cancer, the physician\u27s responsibility in the psychological management of patients and their relatives, the nurses’ duties, the consented death, the practice of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide (PAS) as well as the clinical research have been the main targets of our study

Optimization of White Wheat Flour Dough Rheological Properties with Different Levels of Grape Peels Flour Addition

    Get PDF
The use of grape peels flour to improve the nutritional value of wheat flour bread has received considerable interest due to their high fibers content and bioactive compounds compared to white wheat flour. The aim of this study was to establish the optimal combination of grape peels particle size (PS) and flour replacement (FR) level with grape peel flour on the dynamic and empirical rheological properties of mix flour dough to develop innovative bakery products. The results obtained highlighted that the small PS resulted in increased Farinograph water absorption and Amylograph peak viscosity and decreased dough development time. The FR showed a significant (p < 0.05) effect on Rheofermentometer parameters. The dynamic moduli increased when increasing FR and decreasing PS, while the loss tangent decreased with FR increase. The white wheat flour with 3.80% small particle size of GPF was found to be the best formulation in order to achieve the desirable dough rheological properties

Giant renal cell carcinoma in a patient with ipsilateral lower limb hypertrophic lichen planus; Case report and literature review

    Get PDF
Renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of primary urogenital cancer, usually resistant to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Hypertrophic lichen planus is an inflammatory dermatosis characterized by the presence of papulosquamous and intensely pruritic lesions. The association of these two conditions is unusual, being reported in the specialized literature only in a few rare cases with the onset of lichenoid lesions after patients have undergone various forms of treatment. The case of a 62-year-old male patient who was admitted for severe abdominal pain due to a giant renal tumor associated with a hypertrophic plaque located on the anterior part of the left calf is presented. After (clinical, biochemical, imaging) diagnosis, surgery was performed for en bloc removal of the entire mass, adrenal gland, and spleen. The histopathological exam established the diagnosis of a moderately differentiated T2b clear cell Grawitz tumor, without regional lymph node metastasis (stage II). The patient continued local corticosteroid therapy in the hospital for hypertrophic lichen planus lesions, being referred to the oncology department after discharge

Management options in the sudden hearing loss of a diabetic patient

    Get PDF
The aim of our paper is to highlight the main therapeutic principles and the management options in the case of a diabetic patient who has had a sudden hearing loss. Mainly, the aim is to underline the sudden hearing loss treatment adjustment of the diabetic patient compared to the non-diabetic patient. By understanding the mechanism of sudden hearing loss in a diabetic patient, namely the impact of glycemic variations and their implication on the microvascular structures of the inner ear, we try to underline the treatment principles and management options of the previously mentioned combined pathologies. Thus, it is necessary to adapt the classes of drugs used in the case of sudden sensorineural hearing loss of the diabetic patient in comparison with the non-diabetic patient, in order not to aggravate or complicate the patient’s functional status. Therefore, the treatment will need to be adapted both by classes of medication and by the type of administration used. Adequate control of the progression, treatment and complications of diabetes mellitus ensures optimal treatment management in case of a sudden hearing loss and therefore interferes with the favorable functional hearing outcomes. The role of this paper is not only to state the therapeutic principles in the case of sudden hearing loss in a diabetic patient, but also to analyze the impact on the management of potential local and systemic risk factors

Properties and Applications of Nanocellulose Polymer Composites. A Short Review

    Get PDF
This paper covers some aspects related to the structure of natural cellulose fibers as well the sources, obtaining methods, properties and their applications. In contrast with aramide and other materials resulted from fossil fuels, nanocellulose is completely renewable. The tensile strength of crystalline cellulose is similar to aluminum's. Its stiffness has been shown to be in the order of magnitude which is similar to aramide and better than glass fibers. Nananocellulose may be prepared as films which are expected to show high strength, high stiffness and high strain. Its strength/weight ratio is 8 times greater than that of stainless steel

Graphenes have attracted much attention due to their properties and possible applications. This approach is dedicated to shortly describe the problems related to this promising element. Some aspects concerning physical description and material characteristics are discussed. The paper presents methods for graphenes obtaining and major means of morphological investigation and structural characterization. Also, mechanical, thermal and tribological properties are reviewed. Finally, concluding remarks are drown

Creating the Cartographic Database and Informatization of the Systematic Cadastre Works Process

    Get PDF
The main objective of this paper is to correlate the current cartographic database with the old one, in the systematic cadastral works. Implementing a GIS and a geodatabase containing the cartographic database is necessary for identifying the buildings in the systematic cadastral works. In order to obtain the actual mappingdatabase, a Phantom 4 PRO drone was used, with a 20 mp resolution camera. For determining the ground reference points there were used two South S82V GPS receivers with double frequency L1, L2, in base-rover radio mode. The existing cartographic database has been taken over from the Cadastre and Land Registration Office and integratedinto the newly created geodatabase. With a unique GIS database, the process of identifying new buildings with old land data is done in a fast and efficient way. The accuracy of the new cartographic database provides greater security identifications, which can be affected even in the office, especially for those owners who have not submittedthe stage of identifying the land. The exploitation of UAV photogrammetric measurements come in support of specialists carrying out systematic cadastre works, especially in the context of the low price per building imposed by the National Agency of Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising
