Vertical Distribution of Hard Corals in Southern Siladen Island
This study was aimed at provide information on hard coral distribution in southern Siladen Island. The work was done using SCUBA gear Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Thirty m long-line transects were placed at the reef flat, 5 m depth, 10 m depth, 15 m depth, and 20 m depth. A total of 44 hard coral genera was recorded, and the highest number of genre was found at 5 m depth. Coral species diversity was also high enough at the reef flat (1.032) and 5 m depth (1.28). Coral reef condition at 10 m depth was good enough as well and categorized as productive due to much higher percent of the biotic component than the abiotic component. The dominant life forms consisted of tabulate Acropora and branching corals at the reef flat, encrusting corals, branching corals, and foliose corals at 5 m, encrusting corals at 10 and 20 m depth, and massive corals, encrusting corals, and branching corals at 15 m depth, respectively
Locus of control, attributions and impression management in the selection interview
Surprisingly little is known about the ways in which candidates create positive impressions during employment interviews. Three studies are presented which investigate how candidate and interviewer locus of control influence preferences for three categories of explanations proffered by candidates during graduate recruitment interviews. In Study 1, we asked 139 undergraduate students and 37 personnel managers to rate internal-controllable, internal-uncontrollable and externaluncontrollable candidate attributions for hypothetical past events according to the likelihood of each producing a positive impression during a selection interview. Students also completed Rotter's Locus of Control questionnaire and the Interview Behaviour Scales. Students and personnel managers rated internal-controllable attributions most likely to create a positive impression. However, students with an external LoC rated external-uncontrollable explanations and internal-controllable explanations as being equally likely to convey a positive impression. In Study 2 a group of 62 candidates applying for actual positions with a company completed the same attribution questionnaire prior to first-stage interviews. Interviewer ratings of candidate performance correlated positively with ratings of internal-controllable explanations (r =.36, p< .001). In Study 3, a sample of 103 experienced interviewers completed the attribution questionnaire and the WLOC. All interviewers rated internal-controllable attributions most likely to convey a positive impression of a candidate. However, locus of control mediated preference for candidate attributions such that ‘External’ interviewers rated external-uncontrollable attributions significantly more likely to convey a positive impression than ‘Internal’ interviewers. The implications of these findings for impression management and interview selection decisions are discussed

Pengaruh Metode Pemisahan Pelarut Dalam Gel Terhadap Sifat Fisik Titania-alumina Sebagai Penyangga Katalis
Magnetic field topology and chemical spot distributions of the Ap star HD119419
Analysis of high-resolution spectropolarimetric observations of early-type
magnetic stars is currently the most advanced method of obtaining detailed
information on their surface magnetic field topologies and horizontal spot
distributions. In this study we analyse a new set of high-quality four Stokes
parameter observations of the magnetic Ap star HD119419 - a member of the 14
Myr old Lower Cen-Cru association - for the purpose of studying the surface
field topology and mapping the chemical abundance spots. We made use of the
circular and linear polarisation data collected for HD119419 with the HARPSpol
instrument at the ESO 3.6-m telescope. These observations were analysed with a
multi-line magnetic diagnostic technique and modelled in detail with a Magnetic
Doppler imaging code. We present a new set of mean longitudinal magnetic field
measurements and derive a revised stellar rotational period. We also
redetermine the basic stellar atmospheric parameters. Our four Stokes parameter
magnetic inversions reveal a moderately complex surface field topology with a
mean field strength of 18 kG and a maximum local strength of 24 kG. A poloidal
dipolar component dominates the magnetic energy spectrum of the surface field
in HD119419. However, significant contributions of the higher-order spherical
harmonic components are also present. We show that the dipole plus quadrupole
part of the reconstructed field geometry is incapable of reproducing the
observed amplitudes and shapes of the Stokes Q and U profiles. The chemical
abundance distributions of Fe, Cr, Ti, and Nd, derived self-consistently with
the magnetic field geometry, are characterised by large abundance gradients and
a lack of clear correlation with the magnetic field structure. This full Stokes
vector analysis of HD119419 extends the modern hot-star magnetic mapping
investigations to an open cluster Ap star with a well-determined age.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figures; accepted for publication in A&
