The Electromagnetic Form Factor of the Kaon in the Light-Front Approach
The kaon electromagnetic form factor is calculated within a light-front
constituent quark model (LFCQM). The electromagnetic components of the current
are extracted from the Feynman triangle diagram within the light-front
approach. We also obtain the electroweak decay constant and the charge radius
for the kaon in the light-front approach. In this work, the kaon observables
are calculated and a fairly good agreement is obtained with a very higher

MP-Collaborator: a mobile collaboration tool in pervasive environment

There is a need for mobile collaboration tools that allow efficient collaboration among staff in organization which may be located in different geographical areas and time zones. Mobile and pervasive computing provides easy and convenient access to information, enabling effective collaboration. This paper describes a context and location-aware mobile application, called MP-Collaborator, created to improve and optimize the communication between collaborators in any organization. MP- Collaborator draws information from location, user status and Pocket Outlook Calendar to create a user availability profile, which is published to any other user in the network. Based on availability status, the user can be reached using a simple phone call or a message. Through the opportunistic use of available mobile technologies MP-Collaborator provides a simple but critical service - user presence service. The proposed solution is validated both in terms of features and communication through a series of experiments on real devices through Wi-Fi network
Electromagnetic Structure of the Pion
In this work, we analyze the electromagnetic structure of the pion. We
calculate its electromagnetic radius and electromagnetic form factor in low and
intermediate momentum range. Such observables are determined by means of a
theoretical model that takes into account the constituent quark and antiquark
of the pion within the formalism of light-front field theory. In particular, we
consider a nonsymmetrical vertex in this model, with which we calculate the
electromagnetic form factor of the pion in an optimized way, so that we obtain
a value closer to the experimental charge radius of the pion. The theoretical
calculations are also compared with the most recent experimental data involving

Impact of content storage and retrieval mechanisms on the performance of vehicular delay-tolerant networks

VDTNs handle non-real time applications using vehicles to carry messages on their buffers, relaying them only when a proper contact opportunity occurs. Therefore, the network performance is directly affected by the storage capacity and message retrieving of intermediate nodes. This paper proposes a suitable content storage and retrieval (CSR) mechanism for VDTN networks. This CSR solution adds additional information on control labels of the setup message associated to the corresponding data bundle (aggregated traffic) that defines and applies caching and forwarding restrictions on network traffic (data bundles). Furthermore, this work presents a performance analysis and evaluation of CSR mechanisms over a VDTN application scenario, using a VDTN testbed. This work presents the comparison of the network behavior and performance using two DTN routing protocols, Epidemic and Spray and Wait, with and without CSR mechanisms. Towards a Cooperative Security System for Mobile-Health Applications
[EN] Mobile Health (m-Health) system architectures are typically based on mobile and
wireless communications, and use mobile devices with data exchange supported by Web Services
(WS). Although m-Health systems offer mobility as a potential and precious resource they also
present several challenged issues and constraints, such as, battery and storage capacity, broadcast
constraints, interferences, disconnections, noises, limited bandwidths, and network delays.
Furthermore, constant mobility and often-required Internet connectivity also exposes and
compromises the privacy and confidentiality of the m-Health system information. This paper
proposes a novel data encryption solution for mobile health systems, considering a novel and
early-proposed cooperation strategy. This encryption solution, called data encryption for mobile
health applications (DE4MHA), tries to guarantee the best confidentiality, integrity, and
authenticity of m-health systems users data. The paper also presents a performance evaluation

Ship Routing with Pickup and Delivery for a Maritime Oil Transportation System: MIP Modeland Heuristics
This paper examines a ship routing problem with pickup and delivery and time windows for maritime oil transportation, motivated by the production and logistics activities of an oil company operating in the Brazilian coast. The transportation costs from offshore platforms to coastal terminals are an important issue in the search for operational excellence in the oil industry, involving operations that demand agile and effective decision support systems. This paper presents an optimization approach to address this problem, based on a mixed integer programming (MIP) model and a novel and exploratory application of two tailor-made MIP heuristics, based on relax-and-fix and time decomposition procedures. The model minimizes fuel costs of a heterogeneous fleet of oil tankers and costs related to freighting contracts. The model also considers company-specific constraints for offshore oil transportation. Computational experiments based on the mathematical models and the related MIP heuristics are presented for a set of real data provided by the company, which confirm the potential of optimization-based methods to find good solutions for problems of moderate sizes
Solutions for vehicular communications: a review
Vehicular networks experience a number of unique challenges due to the high mobility of vehicles and highly dynamic network topology, short contact durations, disruption intermittent connectivity, significant loss rates, node density, and frequent network fragmentation. All these issues have a profound impact on routing strategies in these networks. This paper gives an insight about available solutions on related literature for vehicular communications. It overviews and compares the most relevant approaches for data communication in these networks, discussing their influence on routing strategies. Pion and kaon elastic form factors in a refined light-front model
Within the framework of light-front field theory, we reassess the
electromagnetic form factors of the pion and kaon. Comparison with experiment
is made for the full range of momentum transfer, q^2<0, including recent data.
The light-front model's single regulator mass, m_R, of the \bar qq bound-state
vertex function is initially adjusted to reproduce the weak decay constants,
f_\pi\ and f_K, and both meson's charge radii, r_\pi\ and r_K. We study the
behavior of these observables under variation of the quark masses and find an
optimized parameter set, m_u=m_d, m_s and m_R, for which they are in sensibly
better agreement with experiment than in a previous analysis; a feature also
observed for the elastic form factors, in particular at small q^2. This model
refinement is important in view of an extension to vector and heavy-light
