On Poincar\'e extensions of rational maps

There is a classical extension, of M\"obius automorphisms of the Riemann sphere into isometries of the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^3$, which is called the Poincar\'e extension. In this paper, we construct extensions of rational maps on the Riemann sphere over endomorphisms of $\mathbb{H}^3$ exploiting the fact that any holomorphic covering between Riemann surfaces is M\"obius for a suitable choice of coordinates. We show that these extensions define conformally natural homomorphisms on suitable subsemigroups of the semigroup of Blaschke maps. We extend the complex multiplication to a product in $\mathbb{H}^3$ that allows to construct a visual extension of any given rational map.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figur

Suppes' Methodology of Economics

Aunque las contribuciones de Patrick Suppes en el ámbito de la lógica, la metodología y la losofía de la economía (por no mencionar a la propia economía) hayan sido importantes, los metodólogos de la economía apenas las conocen. El propósito de este artículo es cubrir este vacío. Presentaremos su concepción general de la losofía de la ciencia y analizaremos después con detalle su noción de modelos de datos, surgida de sus famosos experimentos sobre aprendizaje. Discutiremos también su concepción de la medición fundamental en relación con tales experimentos. El artículo incluye además una amplia bibliografía de los trabajos de Suppes sobre el tema

Nuevos fundamentos para la economía neoclásica

The aim of the present paper is not to provide proofs of any theorems, but rather to discuss the conceptual foundations of neoclassical economic theory Thus, a perfectly general axiomatic foundation for such a theory is provided, after a proposal by professor Vilks is reviewed and rejected as inadequate. The paper stresses the fact that economics is not mathematics, even though it must make use of mathematical methods, and so a clear distinction must be drawn between the economics content and those implausible assumptions that are usually made in order to facilitate the proof of theorems.
