    Status of the ACCULINNA-2 project at FLNR

    The project of a new and more powerful in-flight fragment separator ACCULINNA-2 at U-400M cyclotron in FLNR, JINR planned to build in addition to the existing separator ACCULINNA is presented. The new separator will provide high intensity RIBs in the lowest energy range (5÷50 MeV/nucleon) which is attainable for in-flight separators. The possibilities for the astrophysics studies at the proposed device are presented. ACCULINNA-2 separator is planned to be constructed in the years 2010-2015. The current status of the project is reported

    Spectroscopy of He-7 using the Be-9(He-6, Be-8) transfer reaction

    The unbound nucleus He7 has been investigated via the reaction of a 16.8 MeV He6 radioactive ion beam on a Be9 target. The measurement of the outgoing Be8 through its well characterized two-α decay permitted the energy of the He6+n system to be reconstructed. Through comparison with a complete Monte Carlo simulation incorporating R-matrix lineshapes, the He7 ground state was determined to lie 0.380(28) MeV above the neutron decay with a width of Γ=0.179(21) MeV. A neutron spectroscopic factor SF=0.608(18) was extracted in agreement with the most recent calculations. Significant evidence was found for a broad resonance lying at 2.6(2) MeV above threshold with a ΓFWHM=2.3(3) MeV. These parameters are fully consistent with the properties of 1/2− state reported by Wuosmaa et al. [Phys. Rev. C 72, 061301(R) (2005)].     Resonance states of superheavy hydrogen nuclei obtained in transfer reactions with exotic beams

    A resonance state situated at 1.8 +/- 0.1 and, most likely, another state positioned at 2.7 +/- 0.1 MeV above the t+n+n decay threshold were observed in the missing mass energy spectrum of the H-5 nucleus produced in the reaction H-3(t,p)H-5. The peak located close to E-5H = 1.8 MeV also was seen in the H-5 spectrum obtained from the energy distributions of 3H nuclei emitted in the reaction H-2(He-6,H-5)He-3. The width (Gamma(obs) less than or equal to 0.5 MeV) obtained for the two 5H resonance states is surprisingly small. A state of H-4 with E-res = 3.3 MeV and gamma(2) = 2.3 MeV was obtained in the reaction H-2(t,p)H-4 from the proton spectrum

    A program for upgrade of existing radioactive ion beams facilities at Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, JINR Dubna is presented. A project of a new in-flight fragment separator ACCULINNA-2 is proposed. It is expected the new instrument will be more universal and powerful than the existing nowadays. The beam intensity should be increased by factor 10-15, its optical quality greatly improved and the range of the accessible secondary radioactive beams broadened up to Z∼20. Main ion-optical characteristics, operating principles and a tentative plan for the project realization are included. An extensive research program based on local experiments made so far and international proposals for these equipments is discussed

    We present new project of fragment separator ACCULINNA-2 that is being planned to be constructed in Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reaction, JINR. The ACCULINNA-2 facility is not intended to compete with the new large in-flight RIB facilities. It should complement the existing/constructed facilities in certain fields. Namely, ACCULINNA-2 should provide high intensity RIBs in the lowest energy range attainable for in-flight separators

    Basal divergence of Eriophyoidea (Acariformes, Eupodina) inferred from combined partial COI and 28S gene sequences and CLSM genital anatomy

    Eriophyoids are an ancient group of highly miniaturized, morphologically simplified and diverse phytoparasitic mites. Their possible numerous host-switch events have been accompanied by considerable homoplastic evolution. Although several morphological cladistic and molecular phylogenetic studies attempted to reconstruct phylogeny of Eriophyoidea, the major lineages of eriophyoids, as well as the evolutionary relationships between them, are still poorly understood. New phylogenetically informative data have been provided by the recent discovery of the early derivative pentasetacine genus Loboquintus, and observations on the eriophyoid reproductive anatomy. Herein, we use COI and D1-2 rRNA data of 73 eriophyoid species (including early derivative pentasetacines) from Europe, the Americas and South Africa to reconstruct part of the phylogeny of the superfamily, and infer on the basal divergence of eriophyoid taxa. In addition, a comparative CLSM study of the female internal genitalia was undertaken in order to find putative apomorphies, which can be used to improve the taxonomy of Eriophyoidea. The following molecular clades, marked by differences in genital anatomy and prodorsal shield setation, were found in our analyses: Loboquintus(Pentasetacus((Eriophyidae + Diptilomiopidae)(Phytoptidae-1, Phytoptidae-2))). The results of this study suggest that the superfamily Eriophyoidea comprises basal paraphyletic pentasetacines (Loboquintus and Pentasetacus), and two large monophyletic groups: Eriophyidae s.l. [containing paraphyletic Eriophyidae sensu Amrine et al. 2003 (=Eriophyidae s.str.) and Diptilomiopidae sensu Amrine et al. 2003] and Phytoptidae s.l. [containing monophyletic Phytoptidae sensu Boczek et al. 1989 (=Phytoptidae s.str.) and Nalepellidae sensu Boczek et al. 1989]. Putative morphological apomorphies (including genital and gnathosomal characters) supporting the clades revealed in molecular analyses are briefly discussed
