Firstly, this paper analyzes how Argentinian history was translated, during the national celebrations of the May Revolution bicentennial, into cultural and festive devices aimed at attracting a massive audience, paying special attention to the uses of the past displayed. Secondly, it illustrates the relations between these operations and the variations of government policy that occurred after the 2008 political crisis. Ultimately, it claims that the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration adopted, when it came to planning this national holiday, a liberal discursive logic – mainly characterized by inclusive consensus and pluralism – in order to ease the division of the social and political space, display a reconciled nation, address the entire Argentinean society and, thereby, contribute to the reconstruction of Kirchnerist hegemony.Fil: Amorebieta y Vera, María Laura. Production of INCASI Project H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015 GA 691004The chapter is an introduction to the book that places the research perspective for the comparative analysis of social inequalities between Europe and Latin America in a theoretical and methodological framework. Particularly, we present the INCASI project, the objectives, and discuss the concept of social inequalities in Latin American countries in comparison with European countries in order to create a dialogue that fills the knowledge gap between these two different traditions. To do so, we propose an Analytical Model on Social Inequalities and Trajectories (AMOSIT). Finally, the structure and general contents of the book are presented

This study analyzes the political action taken by Argentina’s main foreign multinational corporations during Kirchnerism (2003–2015). Specifically, it focuses on the study of two specific and contradictory actions: public interventions in the press and lobbying National Executive Branch officials. On the basis of an exhaustive empirical work that contemplated the analysis of approximately twenty in- depth interviews, 491 statements in the press by different actors linked to the country’s main multinational companies, and 838 requests for public hearings with officials, we showed that both the firms’ sector of activity and the structure of political opportunities (the relationship with the government, electoral times, among other factors) are essential aspects for understanding the reasons that could lead a foreign company to act politically and, if it does, to prioritize one type of action over the otherFil: Dulitzky, Alejandro. Argentine industrialization: A critique of the liberal and dependentist schools

We aim to analyze the early trajectory of Argentine industry from the perspective of uneven and combined development. Argentine integration into the world market based on the export of agricultural goods had not neglected industrial development. At first, Argentine industry benefited from its late emergence and rapidly followed the path of leading countries' manufactures. But initial advantage soon turned into a liability. The emergence of large-scale industry required expanded markets that were already occupied by older and stronger competitors. The 1930 crisis and the impact of the Second World War aggravated this problem. Attempts to remedy the situation - an export-led industrialization scheme and an internal-market-oriented economy - failed successively. We study this process through the analysis of Argentine industrial chambers' journals, reports from the United States Department of Foreign Trade and Argentine official government documents. We find that the export-led industrialization project failed because of the weakness of Argentine industries and not because of economic nationalism. That was the outcome of the previous failure of liberal projects and of the international constraints imposed by the Second World War and its aftermath. During this later period of internal-market-oriented economy, the gap between Argentine and international productivity widened. This paper presents an innovative interpretation that transcends liberal and nationalistic explanations and serves as a case study of the implications of uneven and combined development.Fil: Sartelli, Héctor Eduardo.
