Floquet engineering of black phosphorus upon below-gap pumping
Time-periodic light field can dress the electronic states and lead to
light-induced emergent properties in quantum materials. While below-gap pumping
is regarded favorable for Floquet engineering, so far direct experimental
evidence of momentum-resolved band renormalization still remains missing. Here,
we report experimental evidence of light-induced band renormalization in black
phosphorus by pumping at photon energy of 160 meV which is far below the band
gap, and the distinction between below-gap pumping and near-resonance pumping
is revealed. Our work demonstrates light-induced band engineering upon
below-gap pumping, and provides insights for extending Floquet engineering to
more quantum materials
A Fast Radio Burst Discovered in FAST Drift Scan Survey
We report the discovery of a highly dispersed fast radio burst (FRB), FRB 181123, from an analysis of ~1500 hr of drift scan survey data taken using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The pulse has three distinct emission components, which vary with frequency across our 1.0–1.5 GHz observing band. We measure the peak flux density to be... (See full abstract in article)
U-Net with Hierarchical Bottleneck Attention for Landmark Detection in Fundus Images of the Degenerated Retina
Fundus photography has routinely been used to document the presence and
severity of retinal degenerative diseases such as age-related macular
degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in clinical
practice, for which the fovea and optic disc (OD) are important retinal
landmarks. However, the occurrence of lesions, drusen, and other retinal
abnormalities during retinal degeneration severely complicates automatic
landmark detection and segmentation. Here we propose HBA-U-Net: a U-Net
backbone enriched with hierarchical bottleneck attention. The network consists
of a novel bottleneck attention block that combines and refines self-attention,
channel attention, and relative-position attention to highlight retinal
abnormalities that may be important for fovea and OD segmentation in the
degenerated retina. HBA-U-Net achieved state-of-the-art results on fovea
detection across datasets and eye conditions (ADAM: Euclidean Distance (ED) of
25.4 pixels, REFUGE: 32.5 pixels, IDRiD: 32.1 pixels), on OD segmentation for
AMD (ADAM: Dice Coefficient (DC) of 0.947), and on OD detection for DR (IDRiD:
ED of 20.5 pixels). Our results suggest that HBA-U-Net may be well suited for
landmark detection in the presence of a variety of retinal degenerative
diseases

Determination of β-Agonist Residues in Animal-Derived Food by a Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometric Method Combined with Molecularly Imprinted Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction
A novel clenbuterol molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-coated stir bar was prepared and applied to the determination of six β-agonists in animal-derived food. Characterization and various parameters affecting adsorption and desorption behaviours were investigated. The extraction capacities of clenbuterol, salbutamol, ractopamine, mabuterol, brombuterol, and terbutaline for MIP coating were 3.8, 2.9, 3.1, 3.5, 3.2, and 3.3 times higher, respectively, than those of the NIP coating, respectively. The method of MIP-coated SBSE coupled with HPLC-MS/MS was developed. The recoveries in pork and liver samples were 75.8–97.9% with RSD from 2.6 to 5.3%. Limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) were 0.05–0.15 μg/kg and 0.10–0.30 μg/kg, respectively. Good linearities were obtained for six β-agonists with correlation coefficients (R2) higher than 0.994. These results indicated the superiority of the proposed method in the analysis of β-agonists in a complex matrix
Electrolyte disorders induced by six multikinase inhibitors therapy for renal cell carcinoma: a large-scale pharmacovigilance analysis
Abstract To provide evidence for optimization of multi-kinase inhibitors (MKIs) use in the clinic, we use the public database to describe and evaluate electrolyte disorders (EDs) related to various MKIs treated for renal cell carcinoma. We analyzed spontaneous reports submitted to the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Events Reporting System (FAERS) in an observational and retrospective manner. Selecting electrolyte disorders' adverse events to multikinase inhibitors (axitinib, cabozantinib, lenvatinib, pazopanib, sunitinib, and sorafenib). We used Reporting Odds Ratio (ROR), Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR), Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network (BCPNN), and multi-item gamma Poisson shrinker (MGPS) algorithms to analyze suspected adverse reactions of electrolyte disorders induced by MKIs (which were treated for renal cell carcinoma) between January 2004 and December 2022. As of December 2022, 2772 MKIs (which were treated for renal cell carcinoma) ICSRs were related to electrolyte disorders AEs. In general, there were more AEs cases in males, except lenvatinib and 71.8% of the cases were submitted from North America. ICSRs in this study, the age group most frequently affected by electrolyte disorders AEs was individuals aged 45–64 years for axitinib, cabozantinib, pazopanib, and sunitinib, whereas electrolyte disorders AEs were more common in older patients (65–74 years) for sorafenib and lenvatinib. For all EDs documented in ICSRs (excluding missing data), the most common adverse outcome was hospitalization(1429/2674, 53.4%), and the most serious outcome was death/life-threat(281/2674, 10.5%). The prevalence of mortality was highest for sunitinib-related EDs (145/616, 23.5%), excluding missing data (n = 68), followed by cabozantinib-related EDs (20/237, 8.4%), excluding missing data (n = 1). The distribution of time-to-onset of Each drug-related ICSRs was not all the same, and the difference was statistically significant (P = 0.001). With the criteria of ROR, the six MKIs were all significantly associated with electrolyte disorders AEs, the strongest association was the association between cabozantinib and hypermagnesaemia. MKIs have been reported to have significant electrolyte disorders AEs. Patients and physicians need to recognize and monitor these potentially fatal adverse events
Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of calix[4]resorcinarene–triphenylene oligomers

By controlling the mol ratios of reactants, novel calix[4]resorcinarene–triphenylene monomer, dimer and tetramer were designed and synthesised in yields of 50–60% via Click chemistry. Their structures were characterised by NMR and MS. Their liquid crystalline behaviours were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, polarising optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. The more triphenylene units on calix[4]resorcinarene resulted in the wider temperature scopes of mesophase and higher phase transition temperatures. The monomer 6 and dimer 7 showed the mixed columnar mesophase with hexagonal columnar structure and disordered lamellar columnar structure, and compound 8 possessed only disordered lamellar columnar mesophase. These research results suggest that calix[4]resorcinarene was a good platform to construct columnar liquid crystal and the mesomorphic properties were greatly influenced by the substituted numbers of mesogen units on calix skeleton.</p
