Workplace Exclusion Impacts on Knowledge-Sharing via Moderation of Digital Media and Organizational Culture

    No full text
Technological innovation relies on creating new knowledge and technologies, and the talents who create and share the knowledge are influenced by interpersonal relationships. Therefore, how to use the company’s existing internal resources to solve the issue of interpersonal workplace exclusion and encourage the knowledge-sharing between employees to form a specific cultural dynamism in terms of knowledge sharing, which leads to technological innovations, has become a challenge for enterprises. Through an investigation of the survey conducted in China, this paper aimed to explore the influence mechanism of workplace exclusion on knowledge sharing from resource conservation theory and social exchange theory perspectives. The dual moderation model of this study contained digital media and the dynamics of organizational culture. The research results of this study found that workplace exclusion has a significant negative impact on knowledge sharing while digital media negatively moderates the relationship between workplace exclusion on knowledge sharing. On the other hand, organizational culture dynamics help enhance digital media’s moderating effect on the negative relationship between workplace exclusion and knowledge sharing. This research result indicates that when promoting employees’ knowledge-sharing behavior, the influence of the organizational cultural environment cannot be ignored. With the vibrant dynamics of organizational culture design, the company can promote a free, relaxed and innovative cultural atmosphere, encouraging employees to express their ideas and suggestions freely. That is to say, when employees feel excluded from others and cannot express their views because of being ignored and excluded, the visibility of digital media helps them better express their views and knowledge

Metformin Inhibits the Expression of Biomarkers of Fibrosis of EPCs In Vitro

Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are a group of circulating cells with important functions in vascular repair and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), the number and function of EPCs reportedly are decreased. TGF-β is highly expressed in AF patients. In this study, we examined the effect of TGF-β1 on EPCs and the therapeutic outcome of metformin treatment on TGF-β1-induced EPCs. EPCs were induced with TGF-β1 at different concentrations (5 ng/ml, 10 ng/ml, and 20 ng/ml) for 48 h followed by western blot, qPCR, and immunofluorescence analyses to investigate changes in the levels of the fibrosis-related proteins, α-SMA, Col I, Col III, CTGF, and MMP-1. Live-dead cell staining was used to evaluate cell apoptosis. Compared with the control, TGF-β1 treatment significantly (p<0.05) enhanced the levels of α-SMA, Col I, Col III, CTGF, and MMP-1 in a dose-dependent manner. The most effective concentration of TGF-β1 (20 ng/ml) was then used to induce fibrosis biomarker expression in EPCs, followed by treatment with metformin at different concentrations (0.5, 1, and 2 mmol/l). Metformin treatment suppressed TGF-β-induced expression of all above factors, with the effect at 2 mmol/l being significant (p<0.05). Live-dead cell staining showed no difference among the control, TGF-β1-treated, and metformin-treated groups. In conclusion, our study showed that TGF-β1 induces the expression of fibrosis biomarkers in EPCs, which is attenuated by treatment with metformin. Thus, metformin may have therapeutic potential for improving EPC function in cardiovascular diseases

Live stream marketing in China has been in the rage since 2019, and the e-commerce industry has expanded dramatically since the start of the pandemic. Internet celebrities, a growing number of people from different walks of life, movie stars, and TV hosts are now joining as live streamers. In February 2020, China's A-share stock market's Internet celebrity live streaming index rose by more than 20%. However, does adopting live stream marketing really have positive and significant impact on stock prices of listed companies? This study used event study analysis to investigate the impact of live stream marketing on stock prices of listed companies. After computing the normal rate (NR), abnormal rate (AR), cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR) of the subjects using EXCEL and SPSS and conducting a significant analysis of the CAAR, this study found that live stream marketing events have a positive influence on stock prices of listed companies.Live streaming has brought new economic vitality, however, with the existence of chaos phenomenon on the unmatured industry standards, access thresholds, and industry management at the same time. This study tries to organize a conceptual framework for discussion, and from a practical perspective, to summarize the reasons why companies use live stream marketing to influence stock prices: (1) Live stream marketing can boost sales in a short amount of time. (2) The stock price is influenced by live stream marketing's dramatic sales. (3) Brand awareness, which helps forecast the stock price, is promoted. At the same time, live stream provides significant advantages for companies. However, there is no certain supporting business model predicting how live stream marketing significantly affects the companies' stock price. Therefore, the authors, from a theoretical perspective, tried to solve the problem by seeking a stable business model for predicting the influence of live stream marketing on the stock price. In short, the influence of internet celebrity marketing has become a new significant variable and greatly impacted the firm's stock market price and the relevant research regarding this phenomenon is still scarce; it is necessary to study this hot topic at this stage, which is the research motive of this study

Gelsolin Promotes Cancer Progression by Regulating Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Correlates with a Poor Prognosis

Gelsolin (GSN), a cytoskeletal protein, is frequently overexpressed in different cancers and promotes cell motility. The biological function of GSN in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its mechanism remain unclear. The expression of GSN was assessed in a cohort of 188 HCC patients. The effects of GSN on the migration and invasion of tumour cells were examined. Then, the role of GSN in tumour growth in vivo was determined by using a cancer metastasis assay. The possible mechanism by which GSN promotes HCC progression was explored. As a result, GSN was overexpressed in HCC tissues. High GSN expression was significantly correlated with late Edmondson grade, encapsulation, and multiple tumours. Patients with high GSN expression had worse overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) than those with low GSN expression. GSN expression was identified as an independent risk factor in both OS (hazard risk (HR) = 1.620, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.105–2.373, P<0.001) and DFS (HR = 1.744, 95% CI = 1.205–2.523, P=0.003). Moreover, GSN knockdown significantly inhibited the migration and invasion of HCC tumour cells, while GSN overexpression attenuated these effects by regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) In conclusion, GSN promotes cancer progression and is associated with a poor prognosis in HCC patients. GSN promotes HCC progression by regulating EMT
