Ongoing Gas Stripping in the Virgo Cluster Spiral NGC 4522
The Virgo cluster galaxy NGC 4522 is one of the best spiral candidates for
ICM-ISM stripping in action. Optical broadband and H-alpha images from the WIYN
telescope of the highly inclined galaxy reveal a relatively undisturbed stellar
disk and a peculiar distribution of H-alpha emission. Ten percent of the
H-alpha emission arises from extraplanar HII regions which appear to lie within
filamentary structures >3 kpc long above one side of the disk. The filaments
emerge from the outer edge of a disk of bright H-alpha emission which is
abruptly truncated beyond 0.35R(25). Together the truncated H-alpha disk and
extraplanar H-alpha filaments are reminiscent of a bow shock morphology, which
strongly suggests that the interstellar medium (ISM) of NGC 4522 is being
stripped by the gas pressure of the intracluster medium (ICM). The galaxy has a
line-of-sight velocity of 1300 km/sec with respect to the mean Virgo cluster
velocity, and thus is expected to experience a strong interaction with the
intracluster gas. The existence of HII regions apparently located above the
disk plane suggests that star formation is occuring in the stripped gas, and
that newly formed stars will enter the galaxy halo and/or intracluster space.
The absence of HII regions in the disk beyond 0.35R(25), and the existence of
HII regions in the stripped gas suggest that even molecular gas has been

HI power spectrum of the spiral galaxy NGC628
We have measured the HI power spectrum of the nearly face-on spiral galaxy
NGC628 (M74) using a visibility based estimator. The power spectrum is well
fitted by a power law , with over the
length scale . The slope is found to be
independent of the width of the velocity channel. This value of the slope is a
little more than one in excess of what has been seen at considerably smaller
length scales in the Milky-Way, Small Magellanic Cloud (LMC), Large Magellanic
Cloud (SMC) and the dwarf galaxy DDO210. We interpret this difference as
indicating a transition from three dimensional turbulence at small scales to
two dimensional turbulence in the plane of the galaxy's disk at length scales
larger than galaxy's HI scale height.
The slope measured here is similar to that found at large scales in the LMC.
Our analysis also places an upper limit to the galaxy's scale height at $800\

The Molecular ISM of Dwarf Galaxies on Kiloparsec Scales: A New Survey for CO in Northern, IRAS-detected Dwarf Galaxies
We present a new survey for CO in dwarf galaxies using the Kitt Peak 12m
telescope. We observed the central regions of 121 northern dwarfs with IRAS
detections and no known CO emission. We detect CO in 28 of these galaxies and
marginally detect another 16, increasing by about 50% the number of such
galaxies known to have significant CO emission. The galaxies we detect are
comparable in mass to the LMC, although somewhat brighter in CO and fainter in
the FIR. Within dwarfs, we find that the CO luminosity, L_CO, is most strongly
correlated with the K-band and the far infrared luminosities. There are also
strong correlations with the radio continuum and B-band luminosities, and
linear diameter. We suggest that L_CO and L_K correlate well because the
stellar component of a galaxy dominates the midplane gravitational field and
thus sets the pressure of the atomic gas, which controls the formation of H_2
from HI. We compare our sample with more massive galaxies and find that dwarfs
and large galaxies obey the same relationship between CO and the 1.4 GHz radio
continuum (RC) surface brightness. This relationship is well described by a
Schmidt Law with Sigma_RC proportional to Sigma_CO^1.3. Therefore, dwarf
galaxies and large spirals exhibit the same relationship between molecular gas
and star formation rate (SFR). We find that this result is robust to moderate
changes in the RC-to-SFR and CO-to-H_2 conversion factors. Our data appear to
be inconsistent with large (order of magnitude) variations in the CO-to-H_2

The Effect of Star Formation on Molecular Clouds in Dwarf Irregular Galaxies: IC 10 and NGC 6822
We have observed the 13CO J=2-1, 12CO J=2-1 and 12CO J=3-2 lines at a few
locations in the dwarf irregular galaxies IC 10 and NGC 6822 using the James
Clerk Maxwell Telescope. In addition, we report the first detection of the 13CO
J=3-2 transition in a Local Group galaxy. These low metallicity environments
appear to be porous to UV radiation and allow for more efficient heating of
molecular gas by nearby HII regions. The high 12CO J=3-2/J=2-1 ratio in NGC
6822 suggests that the 12CO emission is optically thin in this region. This
high line ratio is likely the result of its location inside a large HII region
with low metallicity and low gas content. In IC 10 we observe structures on a
variety of size scales that all appear to be gravitationally bound. This effect

HYPERTENSION IN POSTMENOPAUSAL WOMEN: POSSIBILITIES OF COMBINATION THERAPY
Objective – to study the efficacy and safety of Tenoten in the combination therapy of hypertension in early postmenopausal women.Subjects and methods. The study enrolled 60 early postmenopausal women with grade I–II hypertension. A study group included 30 women who took Tenoten during antihypertensive therapy (AHT); a control group comprised 30 women who received AHT only.Results. Tenoten could achieve additional improvement of 24-hour blood pressure (BP) monitoring data in the postmenopausal hypertensive women. Tenoten was found to have a positive effect on general health, activity, and mood and to alleviate the symptoms of autonomic dysfunction and anxiety.Conclusion. Tenoten that is able to alleviate the manifestations of anxiety and autonomic dysfunction, to exert a positive effect on bloodpressure values, and to improves health, mood, and social activity should be used in addition to AGT.</p
ОБҐРУНТУВАННЯ ФАРМАЦЕВТИЧНОЇ РОЗРОБКИ ЛІКАРСЬКОГО ЗАСОБУ ДЛЯ ПРОВЕДЕННЯ ЙОДНОЇ ПРОФІЛАКТИКИ РАДІАЦІЙНИХ УРАЖЕНЬ У ДІТЕЙ
The aim of the work. Substantiation of the need to expand the range of medicines for iodine prophylaxis in case of radiation accidents.
Materials and Methods. The methods of information search, systematization, content analysis, comparison and generalization were applied.
Results and Discussion. According to the analysis of the assortment of potassium iodide remedies as of December 1, 2019, it is established that 30 positions with potassium iodide in the form of 7 dosage forms have been registered in the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market. The registered drugs are intended for the treatment of thyroid diseases and the prevention of iodine deficiency and contain a dose of stable iodine of 100–200 mcg, which is not enough for the prevention of radiation damage. The necessity of development of liquid potassium iodide medicines in the form of oral solution of extemporaneous or industrial manufacture for carrying out iodine prophylaxis for the infant population and children in maternity hospitals, children's hospitals and other children's institutions is substantiated. The introduction of industrial production of oral solution with a potassium iodide concentration of 65 mg/ml (6.5 %) is proposed. Pharmacies with the right to extramural drug production in the event of receiving a radiation accident are suggested to produce 0.65 % and 0.32 % solution of potassium iodide for the prevention of radiation damage in children of all ages.
Conclusions. The absence of potassium iodide preparations on the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market for the protection of newborns and children under 3 years of age from radiation damage to the thyroid gland. Taking into account international and national requirements the necessity of development of liquid oral medicines with potassium iodide of industrial production or extemporal manufacture for carrying out iodine prophylaxis for children from birth to 3 years is substantiated.Мета роботи. Обґрунтування необхідності розширення асортименту лікарських засобів для йодної профілактики у випадку радіаційних аварій.
Матеріали і методи. Застосовували методи інформаційного пошуку, систематизації, контент-аналізу, порівняння та узагальнення.
Результати й обговорення. За результатами аналізу асортименту препаратів із калію йодидом станом на 1 грудня 2019 року встановлено, що на українському фармацевтичному ринку зареєстровано 30 позицій з калію йодидом у вигляді 7 лікарських форм. Зареєстровані препарати призначені для лікування захворювань щитоподібної залози та профілактики йодного дефіциту і містять дозу стабільного йоду 100–200 мкг, що недостатньо для профілактики радіаційних уражень. Обґрунтовано необхідність розробки рідких лікарських засобів із калію йодидом у формі перорального розчину екстемпорального виготовлення або промислового виробництва для проведення йодної профілактики дитячому населенню та дітям у пологових будинках, дитячих лікарнях та інших дитячих закладах. Запропоновано впровадження промислового виробництва перорального розчину з концентрацією калію йодиду 65 мг/мл (6,5 %). У аптеках із правом екстемпорального виготовлення лікарських засобів у випадку отримання повідомлення про радіаційну аварію запропоновано виготовляти 0,65 % і 0,32 % розчини калію йодиду для профілактики радіаційних уражень у дітей різного віку.
Висновки. Встановлено відсутність на українському фармацевтичному ринку препаратів калію йодиду для захисту новонароджених та дітей до 3-х років від радіаційних уражень щитоподібної залози. З урахуванням міжнародних та національних вимог обґрунтовано необхідність розробки рідких пероральних лікарських засобів з калію йодидом промислового виробництва або екстемпорального виготовлення для проведення йодної профілактики дітям віком від народження до 3 років
The Local Group Census: planetary nebulae in IC 10, Leo A and Sextans A
In the framework of our narrow-band survey of the Local Group galaxies, we
present the results of the search for planetary nebulae (PNe) in the dwarf
irregular galaxies IC10, LeoA and SextansA. Using the standard on-band/off-band
technique, sixteen new candidate PNe have been discovered in the closest
starburst galaxy, IC10. The optical size of this galaxy is estimated to be much
larger than previously thought, considering the location of the new PNe in an
area of 3.6 kpc X 2.7 kpc. We also confirm the results of previous studies for
the other two dwarf irregular galaxies, with the detection of one candidate PN
in LeoA and another one in SextansA. We review the number of planetary nebulae
discovered in the Local Group to date and their behaviour with metallicity. We
suggest a possible fall in the observed number of PNe when [Fe/H]-1.0,
which might indicate that below this point the formation rate of PNe is much
lower than for stellar populations of near Solar abundances. We also find
non-negligible metallicity effects on the [OIII] luminosity of the brightest PN

RHEUMATIC FEVER AS NONVANISHING DISEASE: A PROBLEM STATE AND CLINICAL CASES
Early diagnostics and treatment of patients with acute rheumatic fever (RF) remains actual problem because rheumatic heart disease is still one of the main causes of acquired valvular lesions. Two cases of acute RF occurred in City Clinical Hospital №1 named after N.I. Pirogov in 2009 are presented. Different outcomes were observed during 6 and 10 months of clinical monitoring. The main approaches to diagnostics and treatment of RF are also described taking into consideration national and international guidelines
Pathology of the shoulder joint and soft tissues: clinical variants, current capabilities of pathogenesis-directed therapy
Pain syndrome in the shoulder occurs in every 5th adult and is the 2nd most frequent reason for seeking primary medical care among all musculoskeletal disorders. Group of local causes of pain syndrome in the shoulder area. The starting point for differential search is patient’s age. For persons younger than 40, the most common causes are joint instability (dislocations / subluxations), as well as mild damage of the rotator cuff muscles due to injury. Patients older than 40 have an increased risk of severe chronic disorders of the above-mentioned muscles, adhesive capsulitis, and osteoarthritis of the shoulder joint. Treatment of shoulder joint and soft tissue pathology is nosological in nature and has to be justified by pathogenesis. Chondroreparants are a new class of pharmaceuticals based on hyaluronic acid modified by low molecular weight compounds using solid-phase stabilization. During physical stabilization (mechanosynthesis) of hyaluronic acid, chemical crosslinkers are not used, which leads to high tolerability and safety. Modified hyaluronic acid in Hyalrepair formulas has a number of structural features leading to its slower biodegradation in the tissues. Chondroreparant Hyalrepair-10 consists of hyaluronic acid, ascorbyl phosphate, zinc, cysteine, and glutathione; Hyalrepair- 2 consists of hyaluronic acid, ascorbyl phosphate, L-proline, L-lysine, and glycine. Use of intra-joint and periarticular injection of hyaluronic acid can be an effective approach in combination pathogenesis-directed therapy of the shoulder and soft tissues
Clinical observation pseudoobstruction syndrome of the stomach's output part and small intestine of a patient with systematic lupus erythematosis
Stomach's output part and small intestine, combining with damaging of the urinary tract is a rare systemic lupus eritematosus (SLE) manifestation. The patient is 32 years old, suffering from SLE with damaged join, blood system, secondary antiphospholipid syndrome with pulmonary embolism in the history and formation of high postembolic pulmonary hypertension on therapy with hydroxychloroquine and low doses of corticosteroids, was hospitalized because of persistent nausea, vomiting, loss of more than 10 kg body weight 1.5 months. The research have shown the obstruction's formation of the stomach's output part, small bowel obstruction at several levels, as well as thickening of the bladder wall and the unilateral expansion of the ureter.
