    A remark on non-commutative LpL^p-spaces

We describe the Haagerup and the Kosaki non-commutative LpL^p-spaces associated with a tensor product von Neumann algebra M1ˉM2M_1\bar{\otimes}M_2 in terms of those associated with MiM_i. The descriptions are then shown to be useful in the quantum information theory based on operator algebras.Comment: Comments welcom

Resonant Control of Interaction Between Different Electronic States

We observe a magnetic Feshbach resonance in a collision between the ground and metastable states of two-electron atoms of ytterbium (Yb). We measure the on-site interaction of doubly-occupied sites of an atomic Mott insulator state in a three-dimensional optical lattice as a collisional frequency shift in a high-resolution laser spectroscopy. The observed spectra are well fitted by a simple theoretical formula, in which two particles with an s-wave contact interaction are confined in a harmonic trap. This analysis reveals a wide variation of the interaction with a resonance behavior around a magnetic field of about 1.1 Gauss for the energetically lowest magnetic sublevel of 170{}^{170}Yb, as well as around 360 mG for the energetically highest magnetic sublevel of 174{}^{174}Yb. The observed Feshbach resonance can only be induced by an anisotropic inter-atomic interaction. This novel scheme will open the door to a variety of study using two-electron atoms with tunable interaction.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality across the world, warranting continuous research in this field. The elucidation of the atherogenesis mechanism is considered one of the most relevant scientific accomplishments of the last century. This has led to the clinical development of various novel therapeutic interventions for patients with or at risk of ASCVD, in which randomized clinical trials played a crucial role. The Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) Study Group was initially established to conduct a clinical trial studying thrombolysis for treatment of myocardial infarction. owever, over the years, the TIMI Study Group has expanded their research interests to include antithrombotic therapy, lipid lowering, anti-diabetes, anti-obesity, and even heart failure. By leading large-scale, international, randomized, controlled trials of novel therapeutics, the TIMI Study Group has helped shape the very practice of cardiovascular medicine for over a quarter of a century, and decades of research continue to provide future promise for further advancement. Through a mutual goal to improve the care of ASCVD patients, the Japanese scientific community has become one of the important contributors to the TIMI Study Group’s clinical research. In this review article, the authors aim to summarize major research lead by the TIMI Study Group in the ASCVD field

MRI and CT features of a malignant myoepithelioma of the scrotum : A case report and literature review

Malignant myoepithelioma of the scrotum is extremely rare. We report the case of a 51-year-old man with malignant myoepithelioma of the scrotum, wherein computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a lobulated soft tissue mass with calcification, cystic component, and solid component with gradual contrast enhancement on dynamic contrast-enhanced scans. The patient presented with scrotal induration, and there was no elevation of tumor markers and no evidence of a metastatic lesion on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Histopathological examination of the resected scrotal specimen confirmed a well-circumscribed solid tumor with septa, a small area of hemorrhage, and necrosis. The subsequent diagnosis was malignant myoepithelioma of the scrotum. This case shows that scrotal malignant myoepithelioma might appear as a well-defined lobulated mass with cystic regions. We conjecture that the enhancement pattern and apparent diffusion coefficient values can be potential markers for scrotal myoepithelial tumors

MR fluids are produced by dispersing micron-sized ferrimagnetic particles in oil. Generally, the presence of foreign particles in a lubricant affects the sliding behavior of the lubricated surface. Accordingly, the dispersed particles in MR fluids should significantly affect the lubrication properties of the fluids. In this study, we investigated the lubrication properties of MR fluids through sliding tests and in situ observations, while focusing on the behavior of the dispersed particles. MR fluids containing dispersed particles of various diameters were tested. The results of the sliding tests suggested that the MR fluid with the smallest particles exhibited the best lubrication characteristics. Surface observations showed the presence of grooves on the lubricated surfaces after wear. It is assumed that the grooves are formed by the abrasive action of the dispersed particles and that they affect the behavior of the particles. In situ observations proved that, in the case of flat surfaces, the dispersed particles remained stationary during sliding. On the other hand, in case of grooved surfaces, they moved along the grooves. Given these results, it can be surmised that the grooves on the worn surface changed the behavior of the particles and improved the lubricity of MR fluids

STAI(A-state)は23から72,47.46±13.92(maen±S.D.) To determine the degree of fear of dental treatment in general, we applied a Face Anxiety Scale (FAS) for pre-operative levels of anxiousness. The FAS is valuable as it is easy and fast. The FAS assess anxiety at 6 levels, the lowest is 0, the highest 5. We assessed the pre-operative (minor dental surgery) anxiety of patients subject to intravenous sedeation, without psychosedation. To establish the reliability of the FAS, an evaluation of the relationship between the FAS and the State-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) was made. The pre-operative FAS ranged from 4 to 0 Anxiety with STAI (A-state) had a highest score of 72, and a lowest score of 23 The relationship between FAS and anxiety state with STAI was Y=30.22+8.87X,R^2=0.69(P<0 01). The FAS was significant correlated with state anxiety of STAI. The results suggest that FAS is a reliable measure for state anxiety in dental treatment

Local well-posedness of a system describing laser-plasma interactions

A degenerate Zakharov system arises as a model for the description of laser-plasma interactions. It is a coupled system of a Schr\"odinger and a wave equation with a non-dispersive direction. In this paper, a new local well-posedness result for rough initial data is established. The proof is based on an efficient use of local smoothing and maximal function norms.Comment: supersedes arXiv:2103.0534
