Impact of Interface Characteristics on the Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness of Digital Library Adoption among Post-Graduate Students in Somalia
The Main objective of this paper was to investigate the impact of interface characteristics—terminology and screen design—on the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of digital libraries among post-graduate students in Somalia. Convenient sampling method was adopted for sample selection and a structured questionnaire was distributed on July, 2014. The study found out that terminology used on the digital library interface has a positive influence on its perceived ease of use. Also, screen design has much impact on the perceived ease of using digital library. Finally, a positive correlation between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness was found. These findings imply that some factors such as exclusion of technical terms and jargons to enhance ease of use of digital libraries should be taken into consideration (when planning and building digital libraries). Keywords: Digital library, Terminology, Screen Design, Perceived ease of use, Perceived usefulnes
Multiple Enteric Duplication Cysts in a Twin Fetus : Diagnosis and management
Enteric duplication cysts are rare congenital anomalies of the gastrointestinal tract. These can be suspected if cystic lesions are noted in the fetal abdomen during an antenatal ultrasonogram. The differential diagnoses of fetal intra-abdominal cystic lesions include fetal omental cysts, fetal mesenteric cysts, meconium pseudocysts and fetal ovarian cysts. We report an antenatally diagnosed enteric duplication cyst in one of a set of twin fetuses which was managed successfully.

Fracture analysis of AA6061-graphite composite for the application of helicopter rotor blade
The main objective of the work is to study the fracture behavior of AA6061-graphite material using both experimental technique and finite element simulation by considering helicopter rotor blade as a case study. From the case study, it has been observed that the helicopter rotor blade, made of AA6061, has been failed at the threaded portion of the hole. Experimental fracture toughness is carried out using the compact tension specimens as per ASTM standard testing procedure. Modeling of compact tension specimens and the threaded portion of the bolt hole was utilized to analyze the fracture toughness using a simulation tool. From the results and the comparison, it is recommended to use AA6061-9wt% graphite material as a replacement of AA6061 in the application of main rotor blades of the helicopter
Protective Role of Ramipril and Candesartan against Myocardial Ischemic Reperfusion Injury: A Biochemical and Transmission Electron Microscopical Study
The present study was designed to investigate the role of combined administration of Ramipril and Candesartan against in vitro myocardial ischemic reperfusion injury in rat. Male Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups (n=6) and treated with saline (10 mL/kg), Ramipril (2 mg/kg), Candesartan (1 mg/kg), and the combination of both drugs, respectively 24 h before induction of global ischemia (5 min of stabilization, 9 min of global ischemia, and 12 min of reflow). Combination of Ramipril and Candesartan when compared to the monotherapy significantly increased the levels of superoxide dismutase, reduced glutathione, catalase, and nitric oxide and decreased the levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances. In addition, the superior protective role of combination of Ramipril and Candesartan on ischemia induced myocardial damage was further confirmed by well preserved myocardial tissue architecture in light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis studies. The combination was proved to be effective in salvaging the myocardial tissue against ischemic reperfusion injury when compared to the monotherapy of individual drugs and further investigations on protective mechanism of drugs by increasing the nitric oxide level at molecular levels are needed
Sea cucumber conservation in Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar, India "An evaluation of the current conservation measures on sea cucumber stocks in Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar of India"
Sea cucumber fishery and trade were one of the top non-finfish income streams for the coastal
people of Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar in the South East coast of India. As there was no regulation to
control the fishery, there was a concern on decline in sea cucumber populations. In order to
conserve the over-exploited stocks, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change,
Government of India banned the fishery and trade of sea cucumbers by including them under Wild
Life Protection Act 1972 since 2001. The enforcement of a blanket ban of sea cucumber fishing over
the last 14 years might have helped in reviving their populations; at the same time, the ban would
possibly had a social and economic impact on scores of people, who were dependent on the sea
cucumber fishery. To understand the situation, the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME)
project approved a short term project to Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (India). The
project was intended to understand the sea cucumber stocks and implications of the ban on the
livelihood of fishers in Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar. The purpose of the project was also to suggest
management options for conservation and sustainable use of sea cucumber resources
Status of sea cucumber resources and impact of fishing ban on the livelihood of fishers in Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay
The sea cucumbers constitute an important part
of non-fish income source for thousands of fishers
along Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay of south east
coast of India. The fishery which is more than
thousand years old was introduced by the Chinese
stationed at Ramanathapuram, for preparing a dried
sea cucumber product Beche-de-mer. The sea
cucumber fishery in Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay
was artisanal in nature and consisted of fishermen
who were good divers, the processors who acted as
middlemen and the exporters. The sea cucumbers
were chiefly collected by skin diving to a depth of
1.5 to 6.0 m in the shallow seas using nonmechanised
country crafts. They were also caught
as by-catch in trawlers locally known as Thallu madi
(an indigenous modified trawler operating on wind
power in shallow waters), besides the Chanku madi
and Attai madi which were operated in deeper
coastal waters
IN SILICO DOCKING ANALYSIS OF BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS FROM CALOPHYLLUM INOPHYLLUM L. ETHANOL LEAF EXTRACT AGAINST EGFR PROTEIN
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effective new phytocomponents from Calophyllum inophyllum ethanol leaf extract against breast cancer target protein of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) using in silico docking studies.Materials and Methods: The identification of compounds was done by GC-MS analysis. The in silico docking studies were carried out using Discovery Studio 4.0 software. Results: The GC-MS analysis of ethanol leaf extract revealed the presence of eleven compounds. The docking analysis have exhibited moderate to potent inhibition with a range of dock score 3 to 55. 2H-Benzo(cd) pyrene-2,6(1,H)-dione, 3,5,7,10-tetrahydroxy-compound showed the dock score of 55.427.Conclusion: The results revealed out that the compounds present in Calophyllum inophyllum can inhibit the EGFR protein. The plant possesses anticancer potential because of the various bioactive compounds presence which is mainly responsible for anticancer activity.Â
Socio-economic Impact of Sea cucumber Conservation in Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar Region of Tamil Nadu
Sea cucumber is one of the important marine resources and its fishery is a source of income to coastal communities. It
contributes to poverty alleviation for more than three million fishers globally. The indiscriminate exploitation for this
lucrative trade would have resulted in overexploitation leading to endangering of the species in the wild. The blanket ban on
collection and trade on sea cucumber in India was imposed during 2002 by listing this organism in Schedule I category of the
Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The present study aimed to analyze and understand the impacts of listing on the
conservation of sea cucumber resources in the wild and on the livelihood of the fishers. The enforcement of ban has affected
the livelihood of thousands of fishermen families involved in sea cucumber fishing. There was a loss in their regular income
as they were not able to do other fishing activities due to lack of capacity for investment. The fishers opined that they want the
ban to be lifted at least for a few commercially important species. They are agreeable to follow regulatory measures like size
restriction on fishing of undersized sea cucumbers, exclusion of breeding stock from fishing, restraining from use of
destructive gears, exclusive fishing ban period for stock replenishment, sea ranching and stock enhancement programmes
for conservation of the resource through participatory co-management principles
