    Biometric Authentication using Nonparametric Methods

The physiological and behavioral trait is employed to develop biometric authentication systems. The proposed work deals with the authentication of iris and signature based on minimum variance criteria. The iris patterns are preprocessed based on area of the connected components. The segmented image used for authentication consists of the region with large variations in the gray level values. The image region is split into quadtree components. The components with minimum variance are determined from the training samples. Hu moments are applied on the components. The summation of moment values corresponding to minimum variance components are provided as input vector to k-means and fuzzy kmeans classifiers. The best performance was obtained for MMU database consisting of 45 subjects. The number of subjects with zero False Rejection Rate [FRR] was 44 and number of subjects with zero False Acceptance Rate [FAR] was 45. This paper addresses the computational load reduction in off-line signature verification based on minimal features using k-means, fuzzy k-means, k-nn, fuzzy k-nn and novel average-max approaches. FRR of 8.13% and FAR of 10% was achieved using k-nn classifier. The signature is a biometric, where variations in a genuine case, is a natural expectation. In the genuine signature, certain parts of signature vary from one instance to another. The system aims to provide simple, fast and robust system using less number of features when compared to state of art works.Comment: 20 page

    Get PDF
Background: Preeclampsia is new onset hypertension of more than 140/90 mmHg on 2 occasions, 4 hours apart in pregnancy, which occurs after 20 weeks of gestation and frequently near term. If there are other symptoms like as headache, blurred vision from end organ damage, and thrombocytopenia, it is characterized as severe preeclampsia. Regardless of the foetal outcome, treatment for severe preeclampsia is immediate delivery. The goal of the current study is to assess how different delivery methods affect individuals with severe preeclampsia. Methods: It is a retrospective study conducted in RL Jalappa hospital, Kolar from January 2021 to February 2022. Out of 2568 deliveries at our facility throughout the study period, 150 singleton pregnancies complicated by severe preeclampsia delivered at 24-34 weeks of gestation were chosen for the study. Women who had additional obstetric, foetal, or medical difficulties were not included in the study. Results: 110 study participants had an LSCS form of delivery out of the total. Among them, non-reassuring fetal heart rate, obstructed labor, and malpresentation were the most typical indicators for LSCS. The difference between Bishop's score and the mode of delivery was statistically significant. There was no discernible difference between the newborn's APGAR score immediately following delivery and the method of delivery. Conclusions: There are strong chances of a normal vaginal birth if the Bishop score at the time of admission and induction is more than 4

    Get PDF
Border Security is one of the major concerns for any country. Issues like political and economic instability in neighboring countries and border distribution demand a good border management and security system. The terrorist attacks that have been taking place over several years have increased the need of an improvised and high level security system. Hence, border infiltration monitoring and prevention is a system built to provide security at the borders. The device is based on the concepts of image capturing, cloud, and wireless data communication. Image processing concepts of noise removal, RGB to gray conversion, background subtraction and histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) are used to detect intrusion. Cloud is used to store the images of the intruder and retrieval at a farther place. Wireless data communication is used to send alert messages from the primary base station to the secondary base station. Further reactions are taken by handling manual robot for fire focusing to the enemy object by targeting and shooting and moving the robot towards enemy with robot detecting metals along its path for safety checking of any bomb present along its way

    Get PDF
An experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Kerala, during December 2009 to September 2012 to standardize organic farming practices for double-sucker planted tissue-culture raised banana var. Nendran. Treatments included three nutrient levels, (M1-133, M2-100 and M3-75% of recommended dose for tissue culture banana as organic), two times of application viz., T1- in two splits- (basal and 2MAP), and T2 in three splits (basal, 2 and 4 MAP) along with the Control (integrated nutrient management for double-sucker planted banana, i.e., FYM + 250:150:400g NPK pit-1). The experiment was laid out in Factorial RBD with three replications. Results of the study indicated that though 33% of additional nutrients were required for double-sucker planting along with INM, 100% of the dose was sufficient under organic farming for realizing a reasonable yield. Pooled analysis of gross income and net income revealed that organic production practices are also profitable in double-sucker planted banana

Background: Ovarian masses are diagnosed in 0.5-1% pregnancies. During pregnancy ovarian cysts can undergo: resolution of the cyst, change of ultrasound pattern, occurrence of ovarian torsion and intra-cystic haemorrhage or rupture. Ovarian masses (esp torsion) is a cause of pain abdomen during pregnancy. The choice of treatment is mainly conservative, provided the patient is asymptomatic. Dilemma in management arises when the patient is symptomatic. Optimal timing for a planned surgery is the second trimester as it is shown to have least neonatal outcome. The objective of this study was to evaluate management options for ovarian cyst in pregnancy and its effect on outcome of pregnancy. Methods: This study was conducted for 2 years from June 2014 to June 2016, at RL Jalappa Hospital, Kolar. A total of 46 pregnant women were included. The pregnancy outcome and the management used were studied. Also studied were the complications most likely to occur in pregnancies complicated by ovarian masses ovarian masses. Results: Out of 46 patients, 2 (4.3%) patients with ovarian cyst torsion underwent emergency laparotomy. 8 patients underwent surgery (6 in 2nd trimester and 2 at term) for various complications. Only one patient had miscarriage and remaining patients continued till term. Histopathological report of all the masses excised were obtained and 6 were reported to be benign serous cystadenomas,1 benign mucinous cystadenoma and 3 simple cysts. Conclusions: Optimal management for ovarian cyst is conservative in pregnancy provided patient remain asymptomatic and characteristic of cyst are consistent with benign pathology. Surgical management is to be reserved for symptomatic patient

Agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries provide maximum employment in the primary sector and form the major source of income and livelihood security of about 70 percent of the population in India. After the introduction of the liberalisation policy and giving thrust for the adoption of improved technologies, there has been a spectacular increase in production in all these segments and the country has witnessed a rapid structural change. Massive adoption of scientific inventions and technological interventions witnessed revolutionary changes in all sectors of development and quality of life of people. Achieving self-sufficiency on food front has been one of the finest Indian successes of the post independence era. The food grain production increased four times (from 50.8 million tonnes during 1950-51 to 198.7 million tonnes during 2000-01) since independence as compared to the three-fold increase in population. Further significant advances have also been made in the production of milk, fish, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables. In fisheries, the country has ushered in the blue revolution with gross production reaching 5.6 million metric tonnes offish and edible invertebrates during 2000- 2001. India is the second largest Asian country in terms of culture fisheries and the third largest in terms of capture fisheries (NAAS, 2001). Due to concerted efforts on strategic research and production technology in oilseeds sector, the country witnessed yellow revolution with the production reaching 25 million tonnes per annum. This was possible as a result of strong agricultural research support provided by the National Agricultural Research System (NARS)

ATP concentration in latex as an indicator for early evaluation of yield in Hevea brasiliensis

    Get PDF
Adenosine 5’ triphosphate (ATP) in the laticiferous tissues of Hevea brasiliensis plays a major role in rubber biosynthesis through its direct involvement in metabolic pathways and indirectly through H+ ATPase activity. A strong positive correlation was observed between dry rubber yield and latex ATP, when ATP was measured in the latex of ten Hevea clones with different yield potentials such as low, medium and high. The latex ATP was significantly high in clones with higher yield than medium and low yielding clones. The correlation between same day latex yield and ATP during the peak yielding season (September-November) also showed a direct relationship. This study was extended to immature plants of the same clones to confirm the practical application of this finding in crop improvement programme. Latex ATP was analysed in two year old young plants and continued for five years to correlate with rubber yield of the mature trees in field trial. A positive correlation was noticed between ATP in young plants and mature tree rubber yield. Young plants of high yielding clones always showed higher latex ATP concentration. In view of the direct relationship with yield, significant differences between clones and its seasonal insensitivity, latex ATP could be used as an indicator for early prediction of high yield in Hevea

A Jamming Attacks Detection Approach Based on CNN based Quantum Leap Method for Wireless Sensor Network

    Get PDF
The wireless sensor network is the most significant largest communication device. WSN has been interfacing with various wireless applications. Because the wireless application needs faster communication and less interruption, the main problem of jamming attacks on wireless networks is that jamming attack detection using various machine learning methods has been used. The reasons for jamming detection may be user behaviour-based and network traffic and energy consumption. The previous machine learning system could not present the jamming attack detection accuracy because the feature selection model of Chi-Squared didn’t perform well for jamming attack detections which determined takes a large dataset to be classified to find the high accuracy for jamming attack detection. To resolve this problem, propose a CNN-based quantum leap method that detects high accuracy for jamming attack detections the WSN-DS dataset collected by the Kaggle repository. Pre-processing using the Z-score Normalization technique will be applied, performing data deviations and assessments from the dataset, and collecting data and checking or evaluating data. Fisher’s Score is used to select the optimal feature of a jamming attack. Finally, the proposed CNN-based quantum leap is used to classify the jamming attacks. The CNN-based quantum leap simulation shows the output for jamming attacks with high precision, high detection, and low false alarm detection
