    Conflicts among Street Children and their Parents: Incidence and Consequences

    Street children by the nature of their work and lives are on their own largely unprotected by adults, and become vulnerable to many dangers and conflict at home and their workplace. This paper explores and analyses the various situations of conflicts and the reactions exhibited by street children after having conflict with their parents. The study was carried on 160 street children (9-12 years) equally distributed over gender. Data were collected by administering a Self-structured Interview Schedule to study the situations of conflict, consequences of conflicts, behavior and reactions exhibited by children after having conflict. Results revealed that children perceived parents as a fearful figure. A higher proportion of street children (56.87%) cited disobeying parents was the major cause of conflict with their parents and as a reaction a higher proportion of them (45.00%) started crying after having disturbing situations. More number of boys become indifferent, go to work as usual, reacted back verbally, becomes aggressive and think of running away whenever they had conflict with their parents while majority of the girls reported of seeking sympathy from friends/other family members, missing work on the particular day or crying for hours at end

    Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Resilience of Adolescent

    Adolescence is the time which is crucial for the overall development of a person both mentally and physically. In this period, along with academic intelligence, emotional intelligence (EI) also plays an equal or strong role in student life. Adolescence period is also characterized by diverse changes that take place which may be physiological, social, or emotional and inability to deal with these changes may lead to maladjustment and popping up of various psychological issues such as academic alienation. Adolescents should be made capable of handling their emotions effectively so as to develop the capability to deal with psycho-social problems. Thus, it is the need of the hour to develop EI and resilience among adolescents so that they can effectively deal with the psycho-social problem such as academic alienation. The present study was conducted on the Relationship between EI and academic resilience of adolescents. Thus, a sample of 150 adolescents was selected randomly from Lucknow city, Uttar Pradesh, India to conduct the study. Academic resilience scale by Kr. Mallik and Simranjit Kaur (2015) was used to assess the academic resilience of the adolescents. EI scale by team leadership toolkit leading across London based on Denial Goleman book EI (1995) was used to assess the EI of adolescents.     Difficulties experienced by older adults when not using assistive devices

    Abstract Background Assistive Devices are those external tools created, manufactured, or modified to help a person do a specific task. Many people, especially the elderly, rely on assistive devices to do daily tasks, engage fully and successfully in social interactions, and enhance their quality of life. Older age people face many difficulties in their day-to-day activities. If they require but do not have or use assistive devices, they may experience significant impairment and difficulty. Assistive devices make a tremendous difference in the lives of the elderly. Objective (1) To assess the difficulties experienced by the elderly when not using assistive devices. (2) To study the relationship between age and difficulties experienced by the elderly when not using assistive devices. Methods A self-structured checklist on the difficulties experienced by elderly who were not using assistive devices and the analysis of data in percentage, frequency, t-test, and ANOVA. Results We found that various problems such as mobility difficulties, vision and hearing problems, dementia, and inability to do activities of daily living were experienced by the elderly when not using assistive devices. Among all the problems, using communication devices and vision problems were the difficulties faced by the majority of respondents

    Aspect of Identity Crisis Faced by Adolescents: A Comparative Study of Rudrapur and Lucknow

    An identity crisis is a personal and psychosocial conflict that occurs during adolescence, though may happen at any time. It involves confusion about one’s social role and sense of self. The present study intends to identify the aspects of identity crisis faced by adolescents. Sample for the study comprised of 160 adolescents (88 boys and 72 girls) between 10 and19 years of age group. Aspects of identity questionnaire by Cheek and Briggs were used to assess the level of identity. The questionnaire measures the identity in terms of who are and what a particular person is and what constitute person’s identity. The scale measures four aspects of identity which include the personal identity, relational identity, social identity, and collective identity. Results reveal that the majority of the adolescents faced personal, relational, and collective identity orientation on an average

    To Assess Postural Discomfort of School Students using Virtual Pedagogy

    Posture is usually defined as the relative arrangement of the parts of the body. It was observed that school teachers worked continuously in one posture for long hours. Constantly, they suffered from discomfort in different parts of their body, especially in the shoulders, knees, back, lower back, and upper back, which mainly prevent them from continuing their work. Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the postural discomfort of the teachers using virtual pedagogy. With this background, this study was carried out with the objectives to assess. Objective: The postural discomfort faced by school teachers across gender. Methods: The sample size was 100 school students and sample was collected from Lucknow city using interview schedule along with a technique for measuring postural discomfort scale prepared by Corlett, E.N. and Bishop, R.P. (1976). The collected data were coded, scored, tabulated, and analyzed using relevant descriptive statistics frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, and relational statistics like correlation. The sample was collected through random and purposive random sampling technique. The data calculated were analyzed using frequency, percentage, and correlation. Results: There is no significant difference between gender and postural discomfort of respondents

    Assessment of Subjective Well-being among the Elderly Residing in Lucknow City

    Research Background: Aging procedure is the action of growing old or progressing the appearance and attribute of old age. Subjective well-being is the self-observation and practice of positive and negative emotional responses and global and specific cognitive evaluations of well-being with life. The purpose of the study was to assess the subjective well-being of the elderly in Lucknow city. Methodology: An interview schedule along with the WHO (Five) Well-Being Index (1998 version) (subjective well-being assessment, psychiatric research unit) scale was used to collect the data. Descriptive research design and purposive random sampling technique were used to select sample for study. Major findings: The study revealed that most of elderly people came under good well-being category (50.0% of male and 43.47% of female) of subjective well-being assessment across gender. The study showed that there was no difference in subjective well-being of respondents across different age groups and gender. Conclusion: This study concluded with positive finding as we found during assessment that most of elderly people were having good well-being of subjective well-being. Very few respondents had poor subjective well-being

    Background: The quality of life among senior adults is an important area of concern which reflects the health status and well-being this vulnerable group. Objectives: The aim of the present investigation was to study the quality of life among senior adults. Methods: The study was conducted on a purposive random sampling of 120 respondents who were selected from Lucknow city in the age ranging from 65 to more than 75 years of which 67 men and 53 women. (OPQOL-35) “Older People’s Quality of Life” questionnaire which is prepared by A Bowling was used to measure the quality of life, the questionnaire was administered. The data were coded, tabulated, and analyzed. The data obtained were subjected to statistical analyzed using mean, frequency percentage, F test, and χ2 test using SPSS (version 20.0). Results: The finding of the study revealed that majority of respondents has good and alright quality of life. The result also revealed that there was no significant difference between quality of life of respondents across gender

    Assessing Various Strategies used by Adolescents to Overcome Adversity

    Adolescent adversity has been shown to predict later mental and physical health outcomes. Understanding which aspect and development timings of adversity is important. The study aims to assess various strategies adopted by adolescents to overcome adversity. The study was conducted on 150 adolescents from Lucknow city in the age ranging from 10 to 19 years, out of which 79 were boys and 71 were girls. The main strategies adopted by adolescents to overcome adversity were found that majority (94%) of the adolescents visualize the outcome of adversity. While, 86.6% adolescents take lesson from every failure and setback and so on. Among Girls, all (100%) of them visualize the outcome. While 70.4% drop negative self- talk and so on. Boys, and equal proportion (89.8%) of respondents reported that they Embrace adversity as a chance for opportunity, talk it over with a like-minded person, stop making excuses and Have faith, followed by create a game plan (73.4%), etc

    Mental Wellness of School Teachers Using Virual Pedagogy

    Research Background: Mental wellness is an issue than a subject to talk over. Everything is getting established on e-stages, such as classes, meetings, and seminars. In addition of getting management of time and easier attention, there are lots of issues along with like as mental retardation of teachers. Methodology: An interview schedule along with the Hero mental wellness scale was used to collect the data. Descriptive research design and purposive sampling technique were used to select the sample for study. Major Findings: The study revealed that most of the respondents were having the extremely happy mental wellness. The study showed that there were no significant differences in mental wellness of respondents across different age group and gender. Conclusion: Major issues are mental health regarding such as migraine, anxiety, and insomnia which results in lack of sleep headache stress depression and several other related issues.
