Assessment of distance-based multi-attribute group decisionmaking methods from a maintenance strategy perspective
Maintenance has been acknowledged by industrial management as a significant influencing factor of plant performance. Effective plant maintenance can be realized by developing a proper maintenance strategy. However, selecting an appropriate maintenance strategy is difficult because maintenance is a non-repetitive task such as production activity. Maintenance also does not leave a consistent traceable record that can be referred to during the decision-making process. The involvement of tangible and intangible factors in the assessment process further increases the complexity of the decision-making process. The technique of preference order by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is one of the most well-known decisionmaking methods and has been widely used by organizations to conduct effective decisions regarding maintenance issues. TOPSIS has also evolved by integrating different approaches such as the fuzzy concept. Although numerous TOPSIS applications for maintenance decision making have been published, the effectiveness of crisp TOPSIS and fuzzy TOPSIS needs to be investigated further. This paper attempts to present a comparison between conventional crisp TOPSIS and fuzzy TOPSIS from a group maintenance decision-making perspective by an empirical illustration. Sensitivity analysis is conducted to demonstrate further the resilience of crisp TOPSIS and fuzzy TOPSIS
Study On Impact Of Dust Particles Towards Planetary Ball Milling Machine's Maintenance, Reliability And Performance Using DOE.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) is one of the strategies that can be applied to reduce the machine breakdown problem due to unplanned maintenance. However, the application of PM in term of when is the best time to carry out the PM is an important issue. The answer to this question should be based on an adequate maintenance analysis
Factor that influences customers’ perception towards Islamic banking facilities / Muhammad Shahrul Zawawi Kamaruddin and Muhamad Hafizuddin Ja’apar
The purpose of this study is to analyse Factor that influences customers‟ perception towards Islamic banking facilities. For this study only 100 of respondents which are employees of Johor Land Berhad and Johor Silica Industries Sdn. Bhd were selected and act as respondent for this study. The objectives of this study are to examine if the factor of banks image and reputation, quality services and religiosity can influence customers‟ perception towards Islamic banking facilities. Other than that, this study also will identify which is most influence factor that contributed to the customers towards Islamic banking facilities. Besides that, this study is a quantitative research study whereby the findings of the study were analysed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Next, the data collected in this study is analyses by using frequency, descriptive analysis, reliability test, and Pearson correlation coefficient
Globalisation and Air Transportation Industry: A Case Study of Malaysia
Air transportation remains a large and growing industry that is central to the globalisation process. The globalisation impact on the air transportation industry remains largely focused on the airlines, while the impact on airports is rarely defined. The objective of this research is to identify the processes of globalisation that impact the air transportation industry specifically on airport development and operations that will greatly influence the changing nature of airports. A survey questionnaire and an interview within the case study framework on Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) were undertaken. A total of 36 MAHB staff participated in the interview that covers questions on policies of the organisation in the globalised environment and more importantly, their views on the impact that globalisation has had on airports operated by MAHB. To further clarify the questionnaire findings, an interview was undertaken with the organisation’s Senior Manager, Corporate Planning. 94% of respondents agreed that globalisation has had a positive impact on MAHB, with 73% felt that business of airports has been greatly influenced by globalisation. 67% felt that such scenarios call the need for airport charges to be increased to support airport operations and expansions, while 79% felt that the new Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) building was necessary. The results reflected the high level of confidence of the organisation’s employees that MAHB as the company has benefitted from globalisation and that MAHB is in a position to face the challenges of globalisation. The findings of this research can be an addition to the scarce literatures on the impact of globalisation on airports. To a certain extent, the findings can be a source of material for airport operators in adapting to the changes in air transportation industry brought about by globalisation. The impact of globalisation on airports may be different for a developing nation and developed as globalisation affects each country differently
Scheduling With Alternatives Machine Using Fuzzy Inference System And Genetic Algorithm.
As the manufacturing activities in today's industries are getting more and more complex, it is required for the manufacturing company to have a good shop floor production scheduling to plan and schedule their production orders.
The Application Of Preventive Replacement Strategy On Machine Component In Deteriorating Condition – A Case Study In The Processing Industries.
The operation of a particular component in deteriorating condition will lead to a high machine downtime. This is due to the failure of component at unexpected time. As a result it
will increase cost of maintenance and production lost. One of the solutions to this matter is to use Preventive Replacement (PR)
Analysis of Shop Floor Performance through Discrete Event Simulation: A Case Study
Shop floor performance management is a method to ensure the effective utilization of people, processes, and equipment. Changes
in the shop floor might have a positive or negative effect on production performance. Therefore, optimal shop floor operation is
required to enhance shop floor performance and to ensure the long-term efficiency of the production process. This work presents
a case study of a semiconductor industry. The punching department is modeled to investigate the effect of changes in the shop
floor on production performance through discrete event simulation. The effects on the throughput rate, machine utilization, and
labor utilization are studied by adjusting the volume of parts, number of operators, and flow pattern of parts in a series of models.
Simulation results are tested and analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA).The best model under changes in the shop floor
is identified during the exploration of alternative scenarios
