COVID-19 is highly transmissible and spreads rapidly in the population. This increases the occupational risk for health care workers. In otolaryngology clinic practice, patients with upper respiratory tract infection symptoms are common. Also, routine head and neck examinations such as oral cavity examination, nasal/nasopharyngeal examination, or video laryngostroboscopic evaluation are highly risky because of the aerosol formation. To emphasize this issue, two leading otolaryngology organizations in Turkey; 'Voice Speech and Swallowing Disorders Society', and 'Professional Voice Society' gathered a task force. This task force aimed to prepare a consensus report that would provide practical recommendations of the safety measurements during routine clinical care of laryngology patients. To fulfill this, universal aim, on the 2nd and 9th of May 2020, two web-based meetings were conducted by 20 expert physicians. This eighteen items list was prepared as an output

Salivary gland anlage tumour of the nasopharynx: A case report and review for histopathological characteristics

Introduction: Congenital salivary gland anlage tumour of the nasopharynx is a lesion which usually presents with nasal and upper respiratory tract obstruction in the neonatal period. Timely diagnosis is essential to prevent the occurrence of respiratory complications in later childhood. Case Report: We present a 8-year-old boy complaining from difficulty in breathing and breastfeeding in the neonatal period due to an adenoid-like nasopharyngeal mass. Histological examination revealed solid and cystic squamous nests and numerous duct-like structures within collagenised stroma. Both epithelial and myoepithelial differentiation were noted in the tubular component. Discussion: A review of the clinical and histopathological features of published cases revealed that ancient lesions showed more prominent and complex epithelial component and more collagen rich stroma. We would like to suggest the possibility of salivary gland anlage tumour to be considered in the differential diagnosis of neonatal respiratory distress cases

MYOPERICYTOMA OF THE TONGUE: A CASE REPORT

Myopericytoma is a rare benign tumour composed of pericytic cells that show myoid differentiation and have a tendency for concentric perivascular growth. It belongs to a spectrum of perivascular myoid cell neoplasms. To date, only a small number of cases of myopericytoma involving the oral cavity have been reported. We describe a case of myopericytoma presenting as a slowly growing tongue nodule in a 61-year-old woman. A diagnosis of myopericytoma was established with the histopathological findings combined with immunohistochemical staining. Myopericytoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of well-circumscribed, slow-growing lesions of the oral cavity
