Smartphone-Oriented Development of Video Data Based Services

The massive introduction of video capturing devices in Internet of Things (IoT) environments leads to development of various video data based services. In this paper, we consider the need and background on the video data based services in IoT environments. Based on the smart spaces approach, we introduce the architecture and distributed configurations to construct such services using primarily local devices and to deliver such services using smartphones. We discuss possible data models that can be used on such mediatory components as a local video server and a semantic information broker

Broadness and specificity: ArdB, ArdA, and Ocr against various restriction-modification systems

ArdB, ArdA, and Ocr proteins inhibit the endonuclease activity of the type I restriction-modification enzymes (RMI). In this study, we evaluated the ability of ArdB, ArdA, and Ocr to inhibit different subtypes of Escherichia coli RMI systems (IA, IB, and IC) as well as two Bacillus licheniformis RMI systems. Furthermore we explored, the antirestriction activity of ArdA, ArdB, and Ocr against a type III restriction-modification system (RMIII) EcoPI and BREX. We found that DNA-mimic proteins, ArdA and Ocr exhibit different inhibition activity, depending on which RM system tested. This effect might be linked to the DNA mimicry nature of these proteins. In theory, DNA-mimic might competitively inhibit any DNA-binding proteins; however, the efficiency of inhibition depend on the ability to imitate the recognition site in DNA or its preferred conformation. In contrast, ArdB protein with an undescribed mechanism of action, demonstrated greater versatility against various RMI systems and provided similar antirestriction efficiency regardless of the recognition site. However, ArdB protein could not affect restriction systems that are radically different from the RMI such as BREX or RMIII. Thus, we assume that the structure of DNA-mimic proteins allows for selective inhibition of any DNA-binding proteins depending on the recognition site. In contrast, ArdB-like proteins inhibit RMI systems independently of the DNA recognition site

Формирование справочно-поискового аппарата библиотек на базе единого центра

Results of building the centralized system of library and information automation in the research centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences Siberian Branch in the cities of Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Omsk are discussed. Over the first three years of the Single Automation Center, many complementary options for using the single reference and search services for building catalogs and generating and using authority files were revealed and implemented.Изложены результаты создания централизованной системы автоматизации библиотечно-информационных процессов в научных центрах СО РАН. В результате внедрения и эксплуатации в течение трёх лет Единого центра автоматизации для библиотек Новосибирского, Красноярского и Омского научных центров выявлены и реализованы дополнительные возможности использования единого справочно-поискового аппарата библиотек как при организации каталогов, так и при создании и использовании авторитетных файлов

Усовершенствование функциональности заказов по МБА и ДД в автоматизированной системе ГПНТБ СО РАН

The ILA and DD order processing at RAS libraries and foreign information institutions using computer systems and ILA and DD international standards is examined. The related functionality of SB RAS State Public Scientific and Technological Library is highlighted. The Library made proposals for introducing components of bibliographic records into the ILA and DD order forms.Рассмотрены вопросы организации процесса оформления заказов по межбиблиотечному абонементу и доставке документов в библиотеках РАН, зарубежных информационных учреждениях с использованием автоматизированных систем и международных стандартов в области МБА и доставки документов. Представлены состояние функциональности заказов по МБА и ДД в ГПНТБ СО РАН и предложения, выработанные в этой библиотеке, по передаче элементов библиографической записи в форму заказа по МБА и ДД. Освещён опыт использования системы Web-ИРБИС

Epicardial obesity and atrial fibrillation: emphasis on atrial fat depot

The studies, performed with MRI and CT, showed that the increase of fat, immediately adjacent to the myocardium (epicardial fat) is correlated more strongly with the risk of atrial fibrillation than the general or abdominal obesity. According to some studies, epicardial fat around the left atrium is a strong predictor of the development at atrial fibrillation. Also, the amount of the fat is associated with the effectiveness of cardioversion and the risk of developing thromboembolic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. The number of such works is small, since tomographic examinations are not needed if intra-atrial thrombosis is suspected, and transthoracic echocardiograthy does not allow visualization of atrial fat. However, transesophageal echocardiography is widely used in patients with atrial fibrillation and allows to measure the structures that serve as depots of epicardial fat, namely the interatrial septum and left lateral ridge. Accumulation of epicardial fat leads to thickening of these structures. This can be used to study the relationship between epicardial obesity and the risk of thromboembolic complications in patients with atrial fibrillations

The history of international standards for ILL and Document Delivery e-messaging formats is discussed. ISO 10160 and ISO 10161 standards and a new standard ISO 18626: Information and documentation - Interlibrary Loan transactions are examined. Ongoing results of analyzing ISO 18626 standard at the State Public Library for Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Siberian Branch are revealed.Рассмотрена история развития международных стандартов на форматы электронных сообщений при обслуживании по межбиблиотечному абонементу и доставке документов. Interplay of unsteady aerodynamics and flight dynamics of transport aircraft in icing conditions

Airframe icing causes significant degradation of aerodynamic characteristics and influences the flight safety. Wind tunnel study of longitudinal steady and unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of a transport aircraft in icing conditions is carried out in order to develop mathematical model of aerodynamics in the extended flight envelope. The wind tunnel results are validated through flight tests conducted for the real aircraft. Large, glaze-horn ice shapes, corresponding to holding flight phase, are considered. Influence of an ice protection system as well as its failure is examined. Effect of icing on the unsteady aerodynamics characteristics is studied not only through wind tunnel tests but also via analysis of subsequent influence on the flight dynamics of the aircraft. The conducted study shows that the ice shapes of the holding phase leads to reduced stall angle of attack (AoA), maximum lift, and longitudinal damping. Flight dynamics analysis demonstrates that dangerous aircraft behaviour in the form of high AoA departure and limit cycle oscillations (LCO) can be observed at smaller elevator deflections for the iced aircraft. Taking into account icing influence on the unsteady aerodynamics in the flight dynamics simulations revealed degradation of the dynamic response and deterioration of phase portraits of the system. Even for small AoA and elevator deflection the aircraft might be trapped into the basin of attraction of high-AoA LCO. In addition, incorporating icing effects in unsteady aerodynamics manifest larger amplitude of LCO

Segregated Network Polymer Composites with High Electrical Conductivity and Well Mechanical Properties based on PVC, P(VDFTFE), UHMWPE, and rGO

The formation of a segregated network structure (wittingly uneven distribution of a filler) is one of the most promising strategies for the fabrication of electrically conductive polymer composites at present. However, the simultaneous achievement of high values of electrical conductivity with the retention of well mechanical properties within this approach remains a great challenge. Here, by means of X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dielectric spectroscopy, and compression engineering stress-strain curve analysis, we have studied the effect of a segregated network structure on the electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of a set of polymer composites. The composites were prepared by applying graphene oxide (GO) with ultralarge basal plane size (up to 150 μm) onto the surface of polymer powder particles, namely, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-tetrafluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TFE)), and ultrahigh-molecular-weight poly(ethylene) (UHMWPE) with the subsequent GO reduction and composite hot pressing. A strong dependence of the segregated network polymer composites' physical properties on the polymer matrix was demonstrated. Particularly, 12 orders of magnitude rise of the polymers' electrical conductivity up to 0.7 S/m was found upon the incorporation of the reduced GO (rGO). A 17% increase in the P(VDF-TFE) elastic modulus filled by 1 wt % of rGO was observed. Fracture strength of PVC/rGO at 0.5 wt % content of the filler was demonstrated to decrease by fourfold. At the same time, the change in strength was not significant for P(VDF-TFE) and UHMWPE composites in comparison with pure polymers. Our results show a promise to accelerate the development of new composites for energy applications, such as metal-free supercapacitor plates and current collectors of lithium-ion batteries, bipolar plates of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells, antistatic elements of various electronic devices, etc. © 2020 American Chemical Society
