Poetic Images, Presence, and the Theater of Kenotic Rituals

This book explores the interrelation of contemporary French theatre and poetry. Using the pictorial turn in the various branches of art and science, its observable features, and the theoretical framework of the conceptual metaphor, this study seeks to gather together the divergent manners in which French poetry and theatre address this turn. Poetry in space and theatricality of poetry are studied alongside theatre, especially to the performative aspect of the originally theological concept of ""kenosis"". In doing so the author attempts to make use of the theological concept of kenosis, of central importance in Novarina’s oeuvre, for theatrical and dramatological purposes. Within poetic rituals, kenotic rituals are also examined in the book in a few theatrical practices – János Pilinszky and Robert Wilson, Jerzy Grotowski and Eugenio Barba – facilitating a better understanding of Novarina’s works. Accompanied by new English translations in the appendices, this is the first English language monograph related to the French essayist, dramaturg and director Valère Novarina’s theatre, and will be of great interest to students and scholars in theatre and literature studies

A weili figyelemfogalom és Pilinszky János „önéletrajzai”

A tanulmányban a figyelem napi gyakorlata, valamint a teremtő képzelet szükségszerű történéseket, viszonyokat és általában a weili értelemben vett szükségszerűséget („nécessité”) felismerő – s ezáltal valóságteremtő – aspektusainak az elemzését végzem el Simone Weil töredékekben ránk maradt életművének 2021-ben megjelent rekonstrukciós kísérlete, a Pilinszky János: Önéletrajzaim címen összegyűjtött kötet alapján. A „mozdulatlan regénynek” tervezett, másutt „egy figyelem történetének” nevezett prózákban megfigyelhető az idő- és pszichológiai viszonyok hiánya, a karakterekben sokszorozódó, „dekreált” (vö. décréation) beszélő képe. A tanulmány azt bizonyítja, hogy Pilinszky – az Intuitions pré-chrétiennes hagyatékban fellelhető példányának jelölései alapján – tisztában volt a weili figyelemfogalom mellett a „szükségszerűség” („nécessité”), a szerencsétlenség („malheur”) és a szeretet weili összefüggéseivel, s ennek a nyomai az Önéletrajzaim című kötettervben is fellelhetők. (Az elemzéshez a 2021-ben Bende József által szerkesztett és publikált változatot használtam.) Megállapítható ugyanakkor, hogy a költő nem ismerte vagy nem tartotta fontosnak a weili figyelemfogalom társadalmi aspektusait, illetve az arra épülő utópisztikus társadalmi elképzelést, hiszen erre vonatkozóan semmiféle utalást nem találtam az életművében

Reception Studies in the Sociology of the Theatre : Directions and Possibilities of Research

The study briefly summarises the position of sociological research on theatre reception in Hungary and its findings to date, outlining the main research activities of the new Research Group on Theatre Education and the Sociology of the Theatre at the Károli Gáspár Reformed University. In the second section, we will present the report of an international questionnaire-based survey conducted on a large sample, which can serve as a methodological and theoretical basis for subsequent research. In 2005, the STEP (Project on European Theatre Systems) international Sociology of the Theatre research group, a collaborative partnership between several European universities, recorded detailed performance evaluations of theatregoers in four European cities between 2010 and 2013, with the aim of mapping differences in audience experience and attitudes in countries with very different theatre systems (the Netherlands, the UK, Estonia, and Hungary). The survey included 156 performances, and a total of 7,121 respondents participated in it. In addition to presenting the research methodology and the general results, this paper will focus on the evaluation of the relevance (both personal and social) of the performances

A színházszociológiai befogadás-kutatások : Kutatási irányok és lehetőségek

A tanulmány röviden összefoglalja a magyar színházszociológia és a színházi recepciókutatás helyzetét, eddigi eredményeit, megjelölve a Károli Gáspár Református Egyetemen induló új Színházi nevelés és Színházszociológai Kutatócsoport főbb kutatási irányait. A második részben egy nagy mintán végzett nemzetközi kérdőíves kutatás beszámolóját olvashatjuk, mely a későbbi kutatásoknak módszertani és teoretikus alapjaként szolgálhat. A 2005-ben több európai egyetem együttműködésében megvalósult STEP (Project on European Theatre Systems) nemzetközi színházszociológiai kutatócsoport 2010–2013 között rögzítette négy európai város nézőinek részletes előadásértékeléseit azzal a céllal, hogy feltérképezhesse a nézői tapasztalatok és attitűdök eltéréseit igen eltérő színházi rendszerekkel rendelkező országokban (Hollandia, Egyesült Királyság, Észtország, Magyarország). A kutatásban 156 előadás szerepelt, és összesen 7121 néző vett részt.
