This Is Reform? Predicting the Impact of the New Campaign Financing Regulations
McCain-style campaign finance regulation is the new campaign reality. But what exactly will this reformist utopia look like? Assessing the "reformed" campaign of the future against the stated desires and expectations of the principal campaign finance regulators and their media supporters, this paper predicts the most important changes in political campaigning, changes that will be experienced for the first time during the 2003-04 electoral cycle. Those changes include the following: The ban on soft money fundraising by the national parties will make our elections significantly less competitive. The federal soft money ban will reduce voter turnout by approximately 2 percentAs a result of the soft money ban, both the parties and their candidates will lose influence over their own campaigns. The prescribed channeling of third-party advertising through political action committees (PACs), paid for only in hard money donations, will increase the number of PACs and the proliferation of PAC-run microcampaigns. The severe restrictions on independent advertising will inadvertently produce both longer and more negative campaigns. Overall, the allegedly reformed campaign of the future will be less competitive, less controlled by candidates and their parties, and more influenced by the mainstream media and will involve fewer voters than the typical campaign of today. Most Americans support real campaign finance reform, but clearly this is not the future promised to them by the self-described reformers

THE REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION? THE TRANSFORMATION AND MATURATION OF THE HOUSE REPUBLICAN PARTY, 1980-1995
Noah M. Weiss, College \u2709, History
A campaign promise is one thing, a signed pledge is quite another : A Political History of the 1994 Republican Revolution
January 4, 1995, signaled a momentous change in American politics as Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-MO) handed the gavel of the House of Representatives to the newly elected Speaker of the House, Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-GA). For the first time in four decades, Republicans constituted a majority of the House. This research will examine the 1994 U.S. midterm elections, the so-called Republican Revolution, in which 54 seats changed hands. Was the Republican landslide truly a revolution? And, was it fundamentally a triumph of ideas or of partisan politics? To answer these questions, I will examine Republican strategy, the formulation of the “Contract with America,” the Democratic Party’s response, the Contract’s legislative implementation, and finally the stalling of the Revolution with the government shutdowns of 1995–1996
Resiliensi Hospitality Yesus terhadap Orang Kusta dan Implementasinya bagi Orang Percaya di Masa Pandemi Covid-19
AbstractThe purpose of writing this article is to describe the attitude of Jesus towards people suffering from leprosy, so that the values that Jesus instilled became an important part of the lives of believers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Similar to Covid-19, leprosy is also an infectious disease. Even those who suffer from leprosy sometimes have to be exiled from the community, because the disease they suffer is considered the result of sin (a plague) so that they are declared unclean. Of course, the values that Jesus applied to lepers, if applied in a world hit by Covid-19 today, will not lead to attitudes that are prone to marginalization. In reviewing this article, the approach used is descriptive qualitative, by utilizing various sources, both from books and online journals related to this research, especially sources related to hermeneutics. This research shows that although the leper was excommunicated, Jesus actually showed the opposite, which was to have mercy on him. In addition, this attitude of Jesus is an attitude of high solidarity in helping those who are marginalized due to illness. Jesus also showed concrete action by extending His hand. This is a form of His care that not only appears in thoughts but also through actions. This is the attitude that believers should also have to live in a world that is still struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The myth of national unity: President George W Bush\u27s rhetorical reconstruction of America
On Inaugural Day, President George W. Bush faced an unusually hostile audience. To reunite the nation, President Bush reached back to Americans\u27 fundamental archetypal images, featuring the American founding myth. However, this reunification process was not complete until his speeches of September 14 and 20, 2001. Through his rhetorical transformation of worldwide terrorism into Evil, Bush reconstructed a broadly accepted image of America as Good and concurrently legitimated his ascendancy to the Presidency. However, myth also serves a less benign purpose of subtly promoting narrower ideology disguised as cultural tradition. Through analysis of Bush\u27s three major speeches of 2001, this critique demonstrates how a seriously fractured audience can be rhetorically reconstructed, while simultaneously suggesting how rhetors may co-opt mythic images to covertly espouse a more narrow political agenda. Finally, it offers a method of extracting ideology and motive from those images in order to more fully examine and debate them
