In the title salt, C26H29N2 +·Br−, which may serve as a precursor for N-heterocyclic carbenes, the imidazolidine ring adopts a twist conformation with a pseudo-twofold axis passing through the N—C—N carbon and the opposite C—C bond. The N—C—N bond angle [113.0 (4)°] and C—N bond lengths [1.313 (6) and 1.305 (6) Å] confirm the existence of strong resonance in this part of the molecule. In the crystal, a C—H⋯Br interaction is present. The dihedral angle between the biphenyl rings is 64.3 (2)° and the phenyl rings make angles of 76.6 (3) and 18.5 (3)° with the plane of the imidazolidine ring

The Coronavirus-19 pandemic continues at full speed, and the number of patients who die from Covıd-19 is increasing. It was aimed to evaluate the demographic information and laboratory findings of 86 patients who died while being followed up in our hospital with a pre-diagnosis of Covıd-19. Identifying these characteristics of deceased patients will be essential to guide clinicians in identifying critically ill patients. Data on demographic information, comorbidities, time from hospitalization to death, molecular test results, thorax CT findings, biochemical findings, culture, antibiotic susceptibility, and the given treatments of the cases were collected from the electronic system Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital. While the RT-PCR test of 21 of the cases was positive, in 9 of the cases, control PCR tests were negative after a while. The CT results of 18 of the 21 initially RT-PCR positive cases were compatible with Covid-19, and the CT result of 3 could not be reached. When the blood test results of the cases were examined, neutrophil increase, white blood cell increase, lymphocyte reduction, and inflammatory markers increase were determined. A total of 43 bacterial growths were found in 21 cases. It has been observed that deaths in patients who were followed up with the pre-diagnosis of Covıd-19 generally occur in older people, males, and those with underlying diseases. It was thought that the cause of death could be underlying diseases, pathologies caused by inflammation, and secondary bacterial infections in addition to viral infection. Clinicians should be more careful about elderly patients, patients with secondary bacterial infections, or patients with neutrophilia, lymphopenia

Background. Carcinosarcoma of the lung is a rare malignant neoplasm. We evaluated the diagnosis and treatment of six carcinosarcoma cases, including a synchronous tumour and a solitary pulmonary tumour, along with the clinical and histological features and survival times. Methods. From a retrospective analysis of 1076 non-small-cell lung cancer resections performed between January 1996 and January 2011, six patients (0.5%) with pulmonary carcinosarcoma (all males; mean age 58 years; range 53–66) who underwent surgical treatment were studied. Results. The mean tumour pathological T diameter was 7.2 cm (median 6 cm, range 3–14.5 cm). Only one patient was diagnosed with carcinosarcoma preoperatively. The clinical presentation and tumour localisations differed. The operations performed were a lobectomy (n=4), pneumonectomy (n=1), and bilobectomy (n=1). Histologically, the epithelial characteristics of the tumours were consistent with squamous cell carcinoma in most of the patients. A complete resection was performed in all six patients. No mortality occurred in the early postoperative period. The median survival time was 9 (3–25) months. Conclusion. The preoperative diagnosis of carcinosarcoma of the lung is difficult due to the composition of the different histopathological structures. Complete surgical resection is the treatment of choice for pulmonary carcinosarcoma, although further studies are needed

In this study, The aim of this study is to research the relationship between the attitude scale of the students studying at secondary schools in MuƟ province and districts in 2015-2016 education year and sports and other variables. While the population of this study consists of the secondary school students studying in MuƟ province, the sample of the study constitutes 382 women and 384 men with a total number of 766 participating in the research voluntarily and also studying at secondary schools in MuƟ province and districts. The frequency and percentage distribution have been used to determine the demographic features in the analysis of datum and Independent Samples T test has been used to examine the relationship between two independent variables and also Anova Variance analysis tests were used to examine the relationship between the variables more than two. The relationship between variables was interpreted by being taken as a basis of p.,05 significance level. As a result, according to the findings it has been pointed out that thee is a significant difference between the students’ attitude towards Physical Education class and Their Mothers’ Employment Status, Fathers’ Occupation, Class Levels, the condition whether they do sports in their spare time off school and the condition that they do sports in a club. To ensure for students to participate actively in physical education and sports classes during learning process, various kind of quality and content extended studies aimed at which variables causing to diverge students’ attitudes stem from

Objective: Respiratory system disorders and anomalies are common in the childhood. In this study, our objective was to demonstrate the effective use of the flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) in the respiratory system disorders and its safety in the childhood. Materials and Methods: 116 FOB interventions, which were carried out in the bronchoscopy unit of the Dr. LĂŒtfĂŒ Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital Pediatric Pneumology Department, were retrospectively evaluated. Results: 77 of the 116 evaluated FOB patients were boys and 39 were girls. The most common indication for bronchoscopy was stridor (33.6%) and the most common diagnosis after the bronchoscopy was laryngomalacia (27.59%). Bronchoscopy was completed successfully in 112 patients (96.55%) and it was discontinued in 4 patients (3.5%). Conclusion: Bronchoscopy is an important diagnosis and treatment tool, which can be safely carried out in the recurrent, persistent and hard-to-diagnose upper and lower respiratory disorders in the childhood

Hepatitis would be related to non-hepatotropic virus. A 6-year-old boy was presented with acute hepatitis finding. He had specific rashes for scarlet fever. His liver was enlarged and liver enzyme was elevated. Other reasons of acute viral hepatitis were excluded. Liver enzymes were normalized after appropriate antibotherapy. We aimed to remind unusual presentation of scarlet fever and uncommon reasons of acute hepatitis. © 2021 University of the West Indies. All rights reserved
