    Storing RDF as a Graph

    Get PDF
RDF is the first W3C standard for enriching information resources of the Web with detailed meta data. The semantics of RDF data is defined using a RDF schema. The most expressive language for querying RDF is RQL, which enables querying of semantics. In order to support RQL, a RDF storage system has to map the RDF graph model onto its storage structure. Several storage systems for RDF data have been developed, which store the RDF data as triples in a relational database. To evaluate an RQL query on those triple structures, the graph model has to be rebuilt from the triples. In this paper, we presented a new approach to store RDF data as a graph in a object-oriented database. Our approach avoids the costly rebuilding of the graph and efficiently queries the storage structure directly. The advantages of our approach have been shown by performance test on our prototype implementation OO-Store

Pre-hispanic pigments and Italian renaissance designs at Spanish colonial missions churches in Northern Mexico

[EN] This article presents the early ATR-FTIR and FORS results of the analysis carried out in five polychrome wooden ceilings from different Jesuit Spanish colonial mission churches. These mission churches date between 1674 and 1723 and are located in the rural villages of Santa Maria, Cusihuiriachi, Coyachi, La Joya, and Rosario in the Northern Mexican State of Chihuahua. The decorative motifs in all five church sites were executed using a similar color palette and painting technique although the pictorial quality differs from one site to the next. The samples collected from the interior of the La Asunción de Santa María de Cuevas are of considerable importance as this site is one of the most significant models of colonial architecture, containing some of the oldest examples of colonial figurative art in Northern Mexico. The scope of this research is to identify and compare the pigments and techniques used in the decorative surfaces of these five selected mission churches. Preliminary FTIR results have unexpectedly determined the presence of indigo and cochineal (not traditionally used among Chihuahua natives) and possibly a mixture of both to produce different tones to decorate the wooden ceilings and choirs of the five missions studied. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Introduction. Understanding hate crime: research, policy and practice

    Get PDF
In 2013, a group of scholars from Europe and North America came together to form the International Network for Hate Studies (INHS). The key aims of the network included bridging gaps between academics and policy makers/practitioners in the field, and "internationalizing" our understanding of hate crime generally. In the spring of 2014, INHS held its inaugural conference at the University of Sussex in Brighton, the United Kingdom. In this special edition of Criminal Justice Policy Review (CJPR), we bring together expanded versions of four of the keynote speeches from that conference. In distinct ways, each speaks to the key themes noted above, as this brief introduction will illustrate

Transactions on replicated data in Mobile Ad Hoc Nets - and some further issues of large scalable networks

    Get PDF
In the Coco/Da project1 data centric middleware functions for Mobile Ad Hoc Nets have been investigated and developed. Transactional support2 and data replication are important functions of traditional data management systems. Using a volatile communication infrastructure, replication plays an even more important role than in fixed wired systems in order to increase availability of data. Keeping replica consistent, however, is more involved with unreliable communication

Soluble mineral content of soils using electrical conductivity

Soils with soluble salts occur in semi-arid and arid regions worldwide. The soluble mineral percentage of soil is determined by measuring the weight lost by diluting the soil mass with a fixed quantity of water. Correct estimation of soluble mineral content is made at the point of unsaturation. In the absence of clay, grain size does not affect determination of electrical conductivity for soils. Measurement of the electrical conductivity for a series of dilution ratios provides a reliable means of determining the correct dilution ratio. Measurement of the electrical conductivity of a subset of low water-soil dilution ratios and a subset of high water-soil dilution ratios can be used to determined the correct dilution ratio. The equation for the determination of soluble mineral content of soils does not produce a correct result as the percentage of soluble mineral content should be constant once unsaturation of the water-soil mixture is achieved

The New Forfeiture Clause Test in Executory Contracts for the Sale of Real Estate

The principle of Ashford v. Reese does not yet seem to have come to rest. In the recent case of Aylward v. Lally the supreme court has added another chapter on the legal relationship of vendor and purchaser, the incidents of which in this state at the present time are none too well defined

The Board of Governors of the Washington State Bar Association is under the statute the executive agency of the Association. We have what is known under our statute as an integrated bar. The powers of the bar are vested in the Board of Governors by statute, with the right of the Board of Governors to make such rules for the governing of the Association as it deems expedient for that purpose
