Determinants of species richness patterns in the Netherlands across multiple taxonomic groups
We examined the species richness patterns of five different species groups (mosses, reptiles and amphibians, grasshoppers and crickets, dragonflies, and hoverflies) in the Netherlands (41,500 km2) using sampling units of 5 × 5 km. We compared the spatial patterns of species richness of the five groups using Spearman¿s rank correlation and used a stepwise multiple regression generalized linear modelling (GLM) approach to assess their relation with a set of 36 environmental variables, selected because they can be related to the several hypotheses on biodiversity patterns. Species richness patterns of the five groups were to a certain extent congruent. Our data suggest that environmental heterogeneity (in particular habitat heterogeneity) is one of the major determinants of variation in species richness within these five groups. An exploratory case study of a high-performing interprofessional primary Lung Health Team
Interprofessional team-based care is essential to primary healthcare in Ontario, but care provided by teams is often disjointed. A Lung Health Team working within Family Health Teams (FHTs) in Ontario developed a successful team model and Lung Health Program that improved patients’ quality of life and reduces healthcare utilization.
A qualitative exploratory case study was conducted to explore components of the team and program that contribute to improved performance, facilitators and barriers to success, the perceived benefit to patients and providers, and the team’s and program’s sustainability and spread. Focus groups and interviews with the team and their patients, environmental scan, and document analysis were conducted. Iterative and inductive data analysis using content analysis took place.
The team’s success comes from a shared team identity, a strength-based approach to teaming, a team structure that drives the product, which is the Lung Health Program, and a strong product
Pouchitis.
Pouchitis is a major long-term complication of the continent ileostomy as well as the ileoanal pouch anastomosis. When diagnosed on the basis of clinical, endoscopic and histologic features, this syndrome has been demonstrated almost exclusively in patients with ulcerative colitis. The clinical course, the endoscopic findings and the histologic abnormalities resemble those of ulcerative colitis. The association with extra-intestinal manifestations further supports the hypothesis that pouchitis represents ulcerative colitis in the small bowel. All ileal reservoirs show bacterial overgrowth, especially of anaerobes. As a response to this altered intraluminal environment chronic inflammation and incomplete colonic metaplasia occur. The efficiency of metronidazole does suggest that bacteriological factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of pouchitis
QND measurement of a superconducting qubit in the weakly projective regime
Quantum state detectors based on switching of hysteretic Josephson junctions
biased close to their critical current are simple to use but have strong
back-action. We show that the back-action of a DC-switching detector can be
considerably reduced by limiting the switching voltage and using a fast
cryogenic amplifier, such that a single readout can be completed within 25 ns
at a repetition rate of 1 MHz without loss of contrast. Based on a sequence of
two successive readouts we show that the measurement has a clear quantum
non-demolition character, with a QND fidelity of 75 %.Comment: submitted to PR
A cryogenic amplifier for fast real-time detection of single-electron tunneling
We employ a cryogenic High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) amplifier to
increase the bandwidth of a charge detection setup with a quantum point contact
(QPC) charge sensor. The HEMT is operating at 1K and the circuit has a
bandwidth of 1 MHz. The noise contribution of the HEMT at high frequencies is
only a few times higher than that of the QPC shot noise. We use this setup to
monitor single-electron tunneling to and from an adjacent quantum dot and we
measure fluctuations in the dot occupation as short as 400 nanoseconds, 20

Inner topological structure of Hopf invariant
In light of -mapping topological current theory, the inner topological
structure of Hopf invariant is investigated. It is revealed that Hopf invariant
is just the winding number of Gauss mapping. According to the inner structure
of topological current, a precise expression for Hopf invariant is also
presented. It is the total sum of all the self-linking and all the linking

Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis Using a Two-Step Neural Network Architecture
The World Wide Web holds a wealth of information in the form of unstructured
texts such as customer reviews for products, events and more. By extracting and
analyzing the expressed opinions in customer reviews in a fine-grained way,
valuable opportunities and insights for customers and businesses can be gained.
We propose a neural network based system to address the task of Aspect-Based
Sentiment Analysis to compete in Task 2 of the ESWC-2016 Challenge on Semantic
Sentiment Analysis. Our proposed architecture divides the task in two subtasks:
aspect term extraction and aspect-specific sentiment extraction. This approach
is flexible in that it allows to address each subtask independently. As a first
step, a recurrent neural network is used to extract aspects from a text by
framing the problem as a sequence labeling task. In a second step, a recurrent
network processes each extracted aspect with respect to its context and
predicts a sentiment label. The system uses pretrained semantic word embedding
features which we experimentally enhance with semantic knowledge extracted from
WordNet. Further features extracted from SenticNet prove to be beneficial for
the extraction of sentiment labels. As the best performing system in its
