Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Diktaturenvergleichs

Der Verfasser fragt nach den methodischen Problemen, die mit einem Vergleich von Diktaturen verbunden sind, und entwickelt eine Typologie von Vergleichsmustern. Zwei Dimensionen stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt: Vergleiche, die auf das politische System als Ganzes zielen (integraler Vergleich), und Vergleiche, die auf die Gegenüberstellung wichtiger Aspekte zielen (sektoraler Vergleich). Darüber hinaus muss man zwischen einer verstehenden, empirisch-analytischen, und einer normativen Fragestellung unterscheiden. The distinction is drawn between two dimensions in particular: an the one hand, comparisons can aim at the political system as a whole (integral comparison) or at the confrontation of important aspects (sectoral comparison).
