    An improved reduced order model for bladed disks including multistage aeroelastic and structural coupling

    To assess the influence of mistuning on the vibration amplitudes of turbo-machinery rotors, reduced order models (ROMs) are widely used. A variety of methods are available for single-stage configurations and mostly aero-elastic effects can be taken into account. More recent research focusses on extending these methods to include multiple stages. However, due to the significantly increased computational effort of the aeroelastic simulations when adding more stages to the models, these ROMs are rarely applied with the inclusion of multistage aeroelastic effects. It is therefore desirable to develop reduction methods which minimize the number of these simulations to reduce the computational cost and thereby enable analyses of rotors with multiple stages including aeroelastic effects. In this paper, a cyclic Craig-Bampton reduction method with an a priori interface reduction for multistage rotors is extended with an additional a posteriori interface reduction to reduce the number of aeroelastic simulations necessary for a given accuracy level of the ROM. The interface degrees of freedom between stages are reduced using a modified version of Characteristic Constraint Modes, to yield a more efficient representation of their displacements while retaining their monoharmonic nature. The method is applied to a two-stage axial compressor with full aeroelastic coupling between the stages and its reduced computational effort is demonstrated.     Comparison of a pediatric practice-based therapy and an interdisciplinary ambulatory treatment in social pediatric centers for migraine in children: a nation-wide randomized-controlled trial in Germany: \textquotedblmoma - modules on migraine activity\textquotedbl

    BACKGROUND Migraine is common in childhood, peaks in adolescents and persists into adulthood in at least 40% of patients. There is need for early interventions to improve the burden of disease and, if possible, reduce chronification. The aim of the project is to compare two types of ambulatory treatment strategies regarding their effect on headache days and quality of life in 6 to 11 year old children with migraine: 1) the routine care in pediatricians' practices (intervention group A) and 2) a structured interdisciplinary multimodal intervention administered at social pediatric centers (intervention group B). METHODS The study is a nation-wide cluster-randomized study. Based on the postal codes the regions are randomly assigned to the two intervention-strategies. Children with migraine are recruited in the pediatric practices, as common outpatient-care in the German health-care system. Parents rate headache frequency, intensity and acute medication intake at a daily basis via a digital smartphone application specifically designed for the study. Migraine-related disability and quality of life are assessed every 3 months. Study duration is 9 months for every participant: 3 months of baseline at the pediatric practice (both groups); 3 months of intervention at the pediatric practice (intervention group A) or at the social pediatric center (intervention group B), respectively; 3 months of follow-up at the pediatric practice (both groups). DISCUSSION Results of the planned comparison of routine care in pediatric practices and interdisciplinary social pediatric centers will be relevant for treatment of children with migraine, both for the individual and for the health care system. TRIAL REGISTRATION The study was approved by the ethics committee at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (number 18-804) and was retrospectively registered on 27 April 2021 in the WHO approved German Clinical Trials Register (number DRKS00016698 )

    Measurement of the decay rate and the parameter αK* of the decay KL → μμγ

    The rate of the decay of the neutral K meson into KL0 → μμγ has been measured with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS. A total of 59 events has been observed with an estimated background of 14 events. The overall Kaon flux was determined to be 1.2 × 109. This observation corresponds to a branching ratio of (3.4 ± 0.6stat ± 0.4sys × 10-7. Using this branching ratio the parameter αK* describing the relative strength of the two contributing amplitudes to this decay, through intermediate pseudoscalar or vectorlike mesons, was measured to be αK* = -0.04+-0.21+0.24

DOI: 10.1108/JPBM-07-2016-1265Purpose: While the branding of individuals has attracted increasing attention from practitioners in recent decades, understanding of personal branding still remains limited, especially with regard to the branding of celebrity CEOs. To contribute to this debate, this paper aims to explore the co-branding of celebrity CEOs and corporate brands, integrating endorsement theory and the concept of meaning transfer at a level of brand attributes. Design/methodology/approach: A between-subjects true experimental design was chosen for each of the two empirical studies with a total of 268 participants, using mock newspaper articles about a succession scenario at the CEO level of different companies. The study is designed to analyse the meaning transfer from celebrity CEO to corporate brand and vice versa using 16 personality attributes. Findings: This study gives empirical support for meaning transfer effects at the brand attribute level in both the celebrity-CEO-to-corporate-brand and corporate-brand-to-celebrity-CEO direction, which confirms the applicability of the concept of brand endorsement to celebrity CEOs and the mutuality in co-branding models. Furthermore, a more detailed and expansive perspective on the definition of endorsement is provided as well as managerial guidance for building celebrity CEOs and corporate brands in consideration of meaning transfer effects. Originality/value: This study is one of only few analysing the phenomenon of meaning transfer between brands that focus on non-evaluative associations (i.e. personality attributes). It is unique in its scope, insofar as the partnering relationship between celebrity CEOs and corporate brands have not been analysed empirically from this perspective yet. It bridges the gap between application in practice and the academic foundations, and it contributes to a broader understanding and definition of celebrity endorsement.publishersversionpublishe
