Ultra-relativistic electrostatic Bernstein waves
A new general form of the dispersion relation for electrostatic Bernstein waves in ultra-relativistic pair plasmas, characterized by a−1 = kBT/(mec2) 1, is derived in this paper. The parameter Sp = aΩ0/ωp, where Ω0 is the rest cyclotron frequency for electrons or positrons and ωp is the electron (or positron) plasma frequency, plays a crucial role in characterizing these waves. In particular, Sp has a restricted range for permitted wave solutions; this range is effectively unlimited for classical plasmas, but is significant for the ultra-relativistic case. The characterization of these waves is applied in particular to the presence of such plasmas in pulsar atmospheres
Spin Dynamics in the Second Subband of a Quasi Two Dimensional System Studied in a Single Barrier Heterostructure by Time Resolved Kerr Rotation
By biasing a single barrier heterostructure with a 500nm-thick GaAs layer as
the absorption layer, the spin dynamics for both of the first and second
subband near the AlAs barrier are examined. We find that when simultaneously
scanning the photon energy of both the probe and pump beams, a sign reversal of
the Kerr rotation (KR) takes place as long as the probe photons break away the
first subband and probe the second subband. This novel feature, while stemming
from the exchange interaction, has been used to unambiguously distinguish the
different spin dynamics ( and ) for the first and second
subbands under the different conditions by their KR signs (negative for
and positive for ). In the zero magnetic field, by scanning
the wavelength towards the short wavelength, decreases in accordance
with the D'yakonov-Perel' (DP) spin decoherence mechanism. At 803nm,
(450ps) becomes ten times longer than (50ps). However, the
value of at 803nm is roughly the same as the value of at
815nm. A new feature has been disclosed at the wavelength of 811nm under the
bias of -0.3V (807nm under the bias of -0.6V) that the spin coherence times
( and ) and the effective factors ( and
) all display a sudden change, due to the "resonant" spin exchange
coupling between two spin opposite bands.Comment: 9pages, 3 figure
Use of Vanadium for Low-alloy Steel Manufacturing at JSC “EVRAZ NTMK”
Joint Stock Company “EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Plant” ( JSC “EVRAZ NTMK”) is the World’s largest processor of vanadium-rich titanium magnetite ores. This work describes the results of the research performed to test various combinations of vanadium and nitrogen microalloying targeted at repeatable quality and strength properties of the rolled steel products. In particular the benefits are described of using vanadium mass fractions in steel for manufacturing railway steel (rails, wheels, rings/tires), railcar body products (Z-beams, I-beams, etc.), API grades including large diameter X70 and X80 pipes. To optimize the analysis of different steel grades for the shaped sections manufacturing EVRAZ NTMK has taken efforts to identify the impact of the vanadium mass fraction in steel grade 09G2S on the mechanical properties of rolled steel with the elements of various thickness. During the effort, the mechanical tests were performed, the extent of vanadium reduction in the form of carbonitrides during the rolling and cooling process and its impact on the mechanical properties, the macrostructuring of rolled products was also studied. Recommendations were given on the chemical composition of steel 09G2S for manufacturing rolled steel of strength classes 375 and 390.

Simulation studies for dielectric wakefield programme at CLARA facility
Short, high charge electron bunches can drive high magnitude electric fields
in dielectric lined structures. The interaction of the electron bunch with this
field has several applications including high gradient dielectric wakefield
acceleration (DWA) and passive beam manipulation. The simulations presented
provide a prelude to the commencement of an experimental DWA programme at the
CLARA accelerator at Daresbury Laboratory. The key goals of this program are:
tunable generation of THz radiation, understanding of the impact of transverse
wakes, and design of a dechirper for the CLARA FEL. Computations of
longitudinal and transverse phase space evolution were made with Impact-T and
VSim to support both of these goals.Comment: 10 Pages, 4 Figures, Proceedings of EAAC2017 Conferenc
Topological Landau-Ginzburg theory with a rational potential and the dispersionless KP hierarchy
Based on the dispersionless KP (dKP) theory, we give a comprehensive study of
the topological Landau-Ginzburg (LG) theory characterized by a rational
potential. Writing the dKP hierarchy in a general form, we find that the
hierarchy naturally includes the dispersionless (continuous) limit of Toda
hierarchy and its generalizations having finite number of primaries. Several
flat solutions of the topological LG theory are obtained in this formulation,
and are identified with those discussed by Dubrovin. We explicitly construct
gravitational descendants for all the primary fields. Giving a residue formula
for the 3-point functions of the fields, we show that these 3-point functions
satisfy the topological recursion relation. The string equation is obtained as
the generalized hodograph solutions of the dKP hierarchy, which show that all
the gravitational effects to the constitutive equations (2-point functions) can
be renormalized into the coupling constants in the small phase space.Comment: 54 pages, Plain TeX. Figure could be obtained from Kodam
