Indirect Probe of Electroweak-Interacting Particles with Mono-Lepton Signatures at Hadron Colliders
Electroweak-interacting massive particles (EWIMPs) exist in a broad class of
new physics models beyond the Standard Model. Searching for such particles is
one of most primary goal at the LHC and future colliders. The EWIMP generally
affects the LHC signatures through quantum corrections even without direct
productions. By measuring the Standard Model processes precisely, we can
indirectly probe the EWIMPs. In this paper, we study the current constraint and
future prospect of the EWIMPs by using the precision measurements of
mono-lepton production from the charged Drell-Yan processes at hadron
colliders. We found the mono-lepton signature can be a better probe than
dilepton signature from the neutral Drell-Yan processes.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figure
Topical tacrolimus as treatment of atopic dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common, chronic, relapsing, severely pruritic, eczematous skin disease. The mainstays of treatment for AD are topical tacrolimus and topical steroids. Tacrolimus, a calcineurin inhibitor, not only complements existing treatment options but also overcomes some of the drawbacks of topical steroid therapy when given topically and thus meets the long-term needs of patients in preventing disease progression. Topical tacrolimus has been widely recognized in terms of its short- and long-term efficacies and safety, and it is also accepted as a first-line treatment for inflammation in AD. The recent proactive use of topical tacrolimus may emphasize a long-term benefit of this calcineurin inhibitor for AD treatment. To reduce possible long-term adverse effects, it is important to monitor its topical doses in daily clinics
Pathogen Recognition and Innate Immunity
Microorganisms that invade a vertebrate host are initially recognized by the innate immune system through germline-encoded pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs). Several classes of PRRs, including Toll-like receptors and cytoplasmic receptors, recognize distinct microbial components and directly activate immune cells. Exposure of immune cells to the ligands of these receptors activates intracellular signaling cascades that rapidly induce the expression of a variety of overlapping and unique genes involved in the inflammatory and immune responses. New insights into innate immunity are changing the way we think about pathogenesis and the treatment of infectious diseases, allergy, and autoimmunity
Experimental Demonstration of Adaptive Quantum State Estimation
The first experimental demonstration of an adaptive quantum state estimation
(AQSE) is reported. The strong consistency and asymptotic efficiency of AQSE
have been mathematically proven [ A. Fujiwara J. Phys. A 39 12489 (2006)]. In
this Letter, the angle of linear polarization of single photons, the phase
parameter between the right and the left circularly polarization, is estimated
using AQSE, and the strong consistency and asymptotic efficiency are
experimentally verified. AQSE will provide a general useful method in both
quantum information processing and metrology.Comment: 5pages, 4figure
