AIM : To establish the role of Sinusitis as Focal sepsis in Chronic Otitis media active mucosal disease, to emphasizethe need of proper diagnostic endoscopic evaluation and improvement in middle ear mucosal disease status afterfunctional endoscopic sinus surgery.METHODS : 60 Patients in the age groups of 18-49 years Chronic otitis media active mucosal disease wereidentified and screened for evidence of Focal Sepsis in Pasanasal sinus by Diagnostic Nasal endoscopy andcomputed tomography of paranasal diseases. Then Functional endoscopic sinus surgery was done to clear sinusitisand middle ear mucosal disease status assessed.RESULTS :Evaluation revealed that sinusitis in these patients was the cause for persistent discharge. All patients hadone or more evidence of sinusitis like pus in middle meatus, deviated nasal septum and turbinoseptal deformities, prominent enlarged bullae, enlarged middle turbinate on DNE and CT. The otoendoscopy showed inflamed andboggy middle ear mucosal status. All patients underwent septoplasty/FESS depending on findings. Out of 60patients 52 patient had improvement in middle ear mucosal status with surgery. In the adult population sinusitis is the most important focal sepsis in case of persistent ear discharge in ChronicOtitis Media active mucosal type of disease.A proper diagnostic nasal evaluation of all Chronic Otitis Media activemucosal type of patients is necessary in comprehensive management of the disease. The clearance of sinusitis hasimproved the middle ear mucosal status. Unilateral ear discharge is associated with sinusitis only on thecorresponding side, which is in concurrence with our study. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery has emerged as thebest procedure for clearance of sinusitis.

    DEFIANCE OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITY

Person with disability are the socially, educationally and economically disadvantaged. And then women with disability persons are suffer lot. Analysis of the causes of disability from a medical or bio-centric standpoint tends to emphasise disease, hereditary and birth defects over systemic and environmental factors. Genetic factors and lack of access to basic services can also lead to a person becoming disabled. . Provincial commissions have reported inadequate and insufficient accommodation arrangements in schools. Information about the financial and health impacts of entering the open workplace is hard to find, there is limited or delayed access to open employment services. Some jurisdictions reported that complaints are increasing for these disabilities. While there is increased awareness about mental health, persons with mental health problems and illnesses are still facing many barriers in accessing education, including lack of services and adequate accommodation due to insufficient funding, as well as stigma and discrimination. Policy-makers might consider that the highly resource-intensive, tailored forms of support recommended here are too costly to contemplate given competing priorities

Zika Virus Induces Apoptosis in Retinal Pigmented Epithelial Cells

Zika virus is a single-stranded positive sense RNA virus that attracted international attention in 2015 when an epidemic broke out in Brazil. This vector borne virus is transmitted by mosquitos and is especially concerning for pregnant women because the virus can affect the development of the fetus. One known complication is the destruction of infected retinal epithelial cells. The transduction of light is interrupted due to cell death and results in blind spots. Previous research has demonstrated that palmitoleate can reduce the observed levels of apoptosis in ZIKAV infected JEG-3 cells. We have also seen the protection of retinal pigmented epithelial cells when treated with 200 uL and 100 uL of palmitoleate. In addition, 12-hour pre-treatment of palmitoleate has been shown to significantly reduce observed apoptosis. Treating for 72-96 hours post-infection has shown to protect from observed apoptosis more effectively than pre-treatments. Therefore, palmitoleate should be investigated as a possible nutritional supplement to protect the fetus of mothers in affected or high-risk areas

NUTR455, Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism is a capstone, ACE 10 course for undergraduate seniors in nutrition and health sciences that I teach in spring semesters since 2017. Among the 3 classes that I taught, spring 2019 class did awesome job in their overall performance, in-class participation, and in-class exams and in their final poster assignment. We analyzed three questions to as part of this teaching benchmark portfolio. 1) The role of in-class iClicker questions in improving student students understanding the key concepts and test whether it motivates the students to study course materials; 2) Tested whether review session impacted/improve student learning experience and 3) we also examined whether draft poster peer review of poster helped them improve final poster project. We found solid evidence from student response for in-class clicker questions motivates students to prepare and aids in understanding course materials. Further, review session prior to each exam facilitated and improved student preparation to obtain higher grades. Also students who attended review session significantly improved and obtained higher grades compared to students compared to students who did not attend the review session. We also found evidence that draft poster peer review significantly impacted and helped improved final poster assignment and helped improved final poster grades. In conclusion, in-class clicker questions, review session and draft peer review of poster profoundly impacts student learning experience and improved their overall grades in the exams and final poster assignments

Novel Pretreatment Methods to Improve the Properties of Pyrolysis Oil Followed by Production of Biofuels

Production of renewable fuels is of growing interest due to the ongoing concerns associated with combustion of fossil fuel contributing to global warming. Biomass-derived bio-oil is a potential alternative replacement for conventional fuels. But negative properties such as lower energy density, higher water content and acidity prevent the direct use of bio-oil as a fuel. It is universally agreed that for production of a viable fuel bio-oils must be significantly upgraded. Present upgrading techniques, such as hydrodeoxygenation and esterification consume high amounts of expensive hydrogen or large volumes of alcohols, respectively. Production of low yields continues to be a challenge for hydrodeoxygenation. Therefore, development of more efficient upgrading methods would be desirable. The current research was divided into two parts: in the first part the raw bio-oil was pretreated prior to upgrading to reduce coke formation and catalyst deactivation during upgrading. In the second part pretreated bio-oils were further upgraded by several techniques. The second chapter describes application of an olefination process to raw bio-oil to produce a boiler fuel. In the third chapter, raw bio-oil was pretreated by novel oxidation pretreatment to convert bio-oil aldehydes to carboxylic acids. Aldehydes lead to coke formation and their conversion to carboxylic acids circumvents this issue. Following oxidation pretreatment to raw bio-oil acid anhydride pretreatment was applied to reduce water content which leads to catalyst deactivation during upgrading. The fourth chapter tests esterification of pretreated bio-oil by oxidation to produce boiler fuel with relatively high HHV. The fifth chapter discusses hydrodeoxygenation of oxidized bio-oil produced by oxidation to increase hydrocarbons yield and reduced charring during hydrodeoxygenation. The sixth chapter describes application of catalytic deoxygenation of pretreated bio-oil by oxidation in the presence of pressurized syngas to produce a liquid hydrocarbon mixture. In the seventh chapter we tested direct hydrocracking of pretreated bi-oil by oxidation to produce a liquid hydrocarbon mixture. The end products were analyzed by following the ASTM methods for HHV, water content, viscosity, density, acid value, elemental analysis. Best performing fuels based on high HHV and low acid value were analyzed by FTIR, GC-MS, DHA, 1HNMR and simulated distillation

This study aim of this is to estimate the relationship between gold and Gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) and the performance of Gold ETFs in India by using various statistical models. The data for the study covers a period of three years from 2015 to 2018. The data was collected from the National Stock Exchange database and other sources. The outcome of this study was to find out whether there is a relationship between gold and Gold ETFs. It was found out that Gold ETFs has more returns than the physical gold; Axis ETF performed the best among those Gold ETFs selected for the study. This study will be beneficial for the market researchers and investors who find the best opportunities in the Gold ETFs
