    Tuning the phase diagram of a Rosenzweig-Porter model with fractal disorder

    Rosenzweig-Porter (RP) model has garnered much attention in the last decade, as it is a simple analytically tractable model showing both ergodic--nonergodic extended and Anderson localization transitions. Thus, it is a good toy model to understand the Hilbert-space structure of many body localization phenomenon. In our study, we present analytical evidence, supported by exact numerical computations, that demonstrates the controllable tuning of the phase diagram in the RP model by employing on-site potentials with a non-trivial fractal dimension instead of the conventional random disorder. We demonstrate that doing so extends the fractal phase and creates unusual dependence of fractal dimensions of the eigenfunctions. Furthermore, we study the fate of level statistics in such a system and analyze the return probability of a wave packet localized at a single site to provide a dynamical test-bed for our theory.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure

    146-149Chrysanthemum has wide acceptability as cut flower due to its wide range of colour, types and exotic forms. Keeping in view the market demand of these flowers a study was conducted at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), Mohanpur, Nadia to note the differences in growth habit of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. cv ‘Chandrama’ under the influence of different plant densities and stems maintained per plant. The results revealed that the plants under the treatment P1 (12 plants/m2) performed better in respect to all the growth and flowering parameter, however, leaves/plant was maximum in the treatment P3 (20 plants/m2). Number of stems/plant showed significant variation (on the basis of pooled data) in all the characters undertaken during the study. But the treatment failed to significantly influence plant height and leaf number. Unpinched single stemmed plants recorded greater leaf area, showed early flowering and also produced larger and heavier flowers with longer and thicker flower stalks and maximum shelf-life. Lower plant density plants were larger with respect to all the parameters

    A rare inborn error of metabolism masquerading as meningitis

    We hereby describe a 7-month-old female baby, born to first-degree cousins, who was initially diagnosed as meningitis based on the features of seizures and dystonia with fever. Detailed review of brain imaging and high urinary 3-hydroxy (3-OH) glutaric acid level confirmed the diagnosis of glutaric aciduria Type I. There is a high probability of these cases getting misdiagnosed as meningitis. Persistent rigidity and dystonia precipitated by a febrile illness and the typical brain imaging picture are clues to the diagnosis of glutaric aciduria Type I, which can be confirmed by raised 3-OH glutaric acid level in body fluids

    Effect of Shoot Bending at Different Time on Production and Quality of Hybrid Tea Rose Cultivar Minu Pearle

    A field experiment was undertaken from September to March for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021) to find out the best time for shoot bending in Hybrid Tea rose. Growth and development of rose cultivar Minu Pearle, was significantly influenced by shoot bending at different time (4th week of September to 4th week of December). Among the treatments tallest plants &amp; maximum leaf area was produced in plants bended on T5 whereas, the plant canopy was registered to be maximum in 2nd week of December. The highest rate of shoot elongation at 15 &amp; 30 days after shoot bending was noted in second week of November and October respectively. Application of shoot bending on 2nd week of October recorded early blooming and slowest flower bud emergence was registered in T5whereas, delayed sepal reflex and maximum days taken to attain cup shape was observed in T6. In terms of flower quality parameters like length and diameter of flower bud and pedicel and weight of individual flower, T5 proved to be superior. Shoot bending applied on 2nd week of November (T4) produced long and thick stalks. Among the treatments maximum number of flowers, longest self and vase life, highest dry matter production from leaves and stem, greater chlorophyll and anthocyanin content was observed in T5

    Goat sperm membrane: lectin-binding sites of sperm surface and lectin affinity chromatography of the mature sperm membrane antigens

    The cell surface glycoproteins of goat epididymal maturing sperma~r;zoa have been investigated using lectins as surface probes that interact with specific sugars with high a~,aity. Concanavalin A (ConA) and wheat-germ agglutinin (WGA) showed high affinity for mature cauda epidi~ymal sperm ~gg[utination, whereas RCA,, kidney beans lectin and peanut agglutinin caused much lower or little aggluth,~fion of the cells. The mature sperm exhibited markedly higher efficacy than the immature caput epididymal sperm fo)r binding both ConA and WGA, as evidenced by sperm agglutination and the binding of the fluorescence isothiocyanate (FITC)-Iabeiled lecfins. FITC-ConA binds uniformly to the entire mature sperm surface whereas FITC.WGA binds to the acrosemai cap region of the head. The FITC-RCA 2 mainly labelled the posterior head of mature cauda sperm. However. no WGA-speciflc glycoprotein receptors could be detected in sperm plasma membrane (PM) by WGA-Sepharose affinity chromatography. The data implied that the epididymal sperm maturation is associated with a marked increase in the ConA/WGA receptors and that WGA receptors may be glycolipids rather than glyco~r~teins. Analysis of the ConA receptors of cauda sperm PM identified by ConA-S:pbarose affinity chromatography and subsequent resolution in SDS-PAGE demonstrated the presence of five glycopolypeptides of different concentrations (98, 96, 43, 27 and 17 kDa) of goat sperm membrane. The immunobbt of these ConA-specific glycopeptides with anti-sperm membrane antiserum showed that 98- and 96-kDa receptors are immunor~spo~sive

    Ecthyma gangrenosum in the periorbital region in a previously healthy immunocompetent woman without bacteremia

    Ecthyma gangrenosum (EG) is a cutaneous lesion classically associated with potentially fatal Pseudomonas septicemia in immunocompromised patients. Other bacterial and fungal pathogens have also been implicated. Although EG typically occurs in immunocompromised or neutropenic patients, it may occasionally affect a previously healthy person. The cutaneous findings are characteristic with small indurated papulovesicles progressing rapidly to necrotic ulcers with surrounding erythema and a central black Eschar. While lesions can occur at any site, most are commonly found over the buttocks, perineum, limbs, and axillae. We describe a case of EG in periorbital region in a previously healthy woman who responded to appropriate antibiotic treatment for Pseudomonas. It is very important to establish the diagnosis early so that appropriate systemic antibiotic therapy can be initiated to reduce morbidity and potential mortality
