Room Temperature Synthesis and Characterization of a Zn (II) Based Metal-Organic Framework with Mixed Ligands, 1, 4-Benzenedicarboxylic Acid and 1-Methyle Imidazole

A Zn (II) based metal-organic framework with ligands 1, 4- benzenedicarboxylic acid (H2bdc) and 1-methyle imidazole (1-MI) has been synthesized by simple and economic, room temperature stirring method without heating. Crystals obtained were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, CHNS, scanning electron microscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis and by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller based N2 gas adsorption studies. A comparative study has been made between room temperature stirring method and conventional heating method in order to understand the efficiency of the methods. The studies show that the compound network contains two Zn center and each center displays a rare five-coordinated square pyramidal geometry

Service Quality Expectations of Academic Library Users

The library services have changed very fast in the digital era. The library customers have access to multiple sources of information and expect quality material within the shortest possible time irrespective of the format of information. Hence, library must provide quality service in order to retain and increase its importance for its users and succeed in enhancing the role of the library in teaching, learning and research. Quality services means those which satisfy users’ expectations and perceptions. Proper understanding of customers' perceptions along service quality dimensions is essential for LIS professionals to recognize the customer expectations. This paper briefly explains the concept of service quality; trace its development and highlight some results of service quality studies using various models, with an objective to describe and identify the issues meriting attention by the library professionals to gear up the library products and services so that user communities get satisfied coming to library

Crouzon’s syndrome with adenotonsillitis: conventional surgery in altered anatomy.

Background/Objectives: Crouzon’s syndrome is characterized by premature closure of the cranial sutures, midface hypoplasia, orbital deformities & other associated abnormalities.Children with Crouzon syndrome frequently have obstructive sleep apnea due to the underdevelopment of the midface.Case report: A 12 year old boy of Crouzon’s syndrome with chronic adeno-tonsillitis was managed by adeno-tonsillectomy under general anaesthesia by scalpel cautery method. The boyresponded well to surgery & the mild sleep disorder disappeared within a week uveventfully.Conclusion: Sleep disorders in this condition can be treated by improving the airway by selective procedures like midface advancement, mandibular expansion , adeno-tonsillectomy,uvulo-palatopharyngoplasty, anterior tongue reduction & endoscopic tracheal granuloma excision.

Deformed Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble description of Small-World networks

The study of spectral behavior of networks has gained enthusiasm over the last few years. In particular, Random Matrix Theory (RMT) concepts have proven to be useful. In discussing transition from regular behavior to fully chaotic behavior it has been found that an extrapolation formula of the Brody type can be used. In the present paper we analyze the regular to chaotic behavior of Small World (SW) networks using an extension of the Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble. This RMT ensemble, coined the Deformed Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble (DGOE), supplies a natural foundation of the Brody formula. SW networks follow GOE statistics till certain range of eigenvalues correlations depending upon the strength of random connections. We show that for these regimes of SW networks where spectral correlations do not follow GOE beyond certain range, DGOE statistics models the correlations very well. The analysis performed in this paper proves the utility of the DGOE in network physics, as much as it has been useful in other physical systems.Comment: Replaced with the revised version, accepted for publication in Phys. Comparative study between LMA supreme with I-gel in anaesthetised adult patient on effectiveness and safety

Background: Supreme laryngeal mask airway (SLMA) and I-gel airway devices are second generation supraglottic airway devices (SAD) and are good alternatives to intubation during surgeries. The study was conducted with the objective to compare two supraglottic airway devices for ease of insertion, number of attempts of insertion, hemodynamic changes, incidence of adverse effects like regurgitation, lip and dental trauma and post-operative sore throat, dysphagia or hoarseness.Methods: This study was conducted at Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair hospital, Mumbai. 80 patients of ASA class 1 and 2 with Mallampati grading 1 and 2, between age group of 18-60 years and with BMI 0.05). Postoperatively no significant complications were observed in terms of dental injury, laryngospasm. Complication like sore throat after 1 hour and after 24 hours was comparatively more in I-gel group but difference was not significant at 1 hr (p>0.05). Dysphagia was reported more in SLMA group (8 cases) than I-gel group (1 case) at one hour and the difference was statistically significant (p=0.013).Conclusions: SLMA and I-GEL are better airway management option for patients undergoing short surgical procedures under general anaesthesia
