Background: Approximately 30-50% of antibiotic use in hospitals is now for pre-surgical prophylaxis. Selection of antibiotics for prophylaxis should be based on its activity against expected bacteria at the desired surgical site. Appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis can reduce the risk of postoperative morbidity and mortality. Abuse of antimicrobials increases the cost of treatment and supports the emergence of resistant bacteria. This study was undertaken with the primary objective of to test the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of organisms causing SSIs.Methods: A descriptive study was carried out in general surgical wards of KR hospital, Mysore for a period of 18 months (2015-2016). The relevant data was collected from the case sheets of patients who were diagnosed with SSI. Pus samples were collected, and culture-sensitivity was done. Collected data were analysed using appropriate statistical tests. Results: A total of 263 study subjects including both males and females were enrolled in the study. Out of 263 pus samples 92% were culture positive. The most common organisms causing SSI were E. Coli-ESBL (n=73) and MRSA (n=44). Gram-negative organisms were highly resistant to β-lactam antibiotics and Gram-positive organisms were resistant to cotrimoxazole, erythromycin, clindamycin, cefoxitin and ciprofloxacin. Conclusions: Good hygienic measures should be followed by the patients and health-workers. A revision of hospital antibiotic policy according to the local antibiotic susceptibility pattern is recommended

Themomentous increase in exigency of electric energy is forced us to find various source of generations like solar, wind, hydraulic and clean energy like fuel cell. Low cost, high efficiency, compactness, portability and environmentally clean energy has enhanced the research on fuel cell. One of the factor which affects the life time of the fuel cell is ripple content presents in the current. In order to supply high voltage and low current applications, fuel cell is used to integrate with boost converter. But to improve the performance and lifetime of fuel cell, interleaved boost converter is employed. Also to supply for constant load the output voltage has to be maintained at a particular value. To attain this controllers are exploited. The conventional PI controller and smith predictive controller are designed for fuel cell fed interleaved boost converter in order to track the output voltage and to improve the transient time. The results depict the validity of the design procedure and the potential of the proposed method

oai:ojs.portalgaruda.org:article/159Speech recognition is a rapidly emerging technology in Human Computer Interaction HCI. It has many applications as we use it from search engines to the device control it serves many areas we interact every day from dawn to dusk. Along with the uses we have many limitations in speech processing such as Language barrier, Accent and Noise, so to implement the speech processing we have many challenges. To enable the advantages of this speech processing most of the leading software companies like Apple, Microsoft and Google are continuously evolving their speech enabled applications. The speech processing eases the physically challenged people’s interaction with the devices and makes them productive. The Idea of the automatically driven cars is introduced by Google and Audi, but they are not acceptable in most of the cases because of lacking trust in current technology. Thus we here worked on the remote driven vehicle in a more secured method using the Mel Frequency cepstral Coefficient. The secure driving of the vehicle can be ensured by the remote driver. This technique is very rapid and more reliable for the speech detection thus the remote driver can use the MFCC and the video from the vehicle needed to be broadcasted to the remote driver that can be done an IP camera running on a data network. And the instructions can from the remote driver can be sent to the vehicle by an app created with python that connected to a micro controller.  To minimize the limitations in the remote drive the vehicle must be enabled with automatic braking when obstacle approaches which can be done by the Ultrasonic sensors that do the distance estimation. The remote drivers usually have a very limited view of road they drive and they must get the precise edges of the road this can be achieved by processing the stream of images to calculate the edge in Matlab
