The progress of modem technology recently makes the transformation of Information and mode of communication among human beings become easy and direct, especially in the world of trade. In deed, the business facilities which can be obtained easily through e- commerce gives some advantages, but, at the same time, it also gives birth a number of crucial legal problems. First, the substantive problem swhich include problems of data massage authenticity, electronic signature, validity, privacy or confidentiality, security, and availability. Second, the procedural problems which are related to jurisdiction or forum. To solve such problems, weneed to prepare certain instruments which support the establish ment ofsafe, effective and beneficial e-commerce transaction for all parties involved. In addition, we have toper form reformation and uniformity of law by referring to UNCITRAL Model Law as a fundamental guidance

Introduction: Permanent pacemaker implantation is available in Nigeria. There is however no national registry or framework for pacemaker datacollection. A pacemaker database has been developed in our institution and the results are analyzed in this study. Methods: The study period was between January 2008 and December 2012. Patient data was extracted from a prospectively maintained  database which was designed to include the fields of the European pacemaker patient identification code. Results: Of the 51 pacemaker implants done, there were 29 males  (56.9%) and 22 females (43.1%). Mean age was 68.2±12.7 years. Clinical indications were syncopal attacks in 25 patients (49%), dizzy spells in 15 patients (29.4%), bradycardia with no symptoms in 10 patients (17.7%) and dyspnoea in 2 patients (3.9%). The ECG diagnosis was complete heart block in 27 patients (53%), second degree heart block in 19 patients  (37.2%) and sick sinus syndrome with bradycardia in 5 patients (9.8%). Pacemaker modes used were ventricular pacing in 29 patients (56.9%) and dual chamber pacing in 22 patients (43.1%). Files have been closed in 20 patients (39.2%) and 31 patients (60.8%) are still being followed up with median follow up of 26 months, median of 5 visits and 282 pacemaker checks done. Complications seen during follow up were 3 lead  displacements (5.9%), 3 pacemaker infections (5.9%), 2 pacemaker pocket erosions (3.9%), and 1 pacemaker related death (2%). There were 5 non-pacemaker related deaths (9.8%).Conclusion: Pacemaker data has been maintained for 5 years. We urge other implanting institutions in Nigeria to maintain similar databases and work towards establishment of a national pacemaker registry

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SELECTED MOTOR FITNESS PROFILE OF FOOTBALL REFEREES IN CROSS RIVER AND AKWA IBOM STATES, NIGERIA.

The purpose of this study was to compare selected motor fitness profile of football referees in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. Motor fitness profiles compared were running speed and agility of the referees. Standardized equipment and procedures were employed in the tests. To achieve the objectives of the study, two research hypotheses were raised to serve as a guide to the study. The quasi-experimental research design was adopted for the study. A total of twenty (20) subject were selected using stratify random sampling technique. Data collected were analysized using descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics were the mean, range and standard deviation while the inferential statistic was the independent “t” test employed to test for significant difference between the mean scores of subjects from the two states. The level of significance was set at .05 with 18 degree of freedom. Findings of the study revealed that referees from Cross River and Akwa Ibom States were similar in running speed and agility when compared. Based on these findings of the study, appropriate conclusions and recommendations were made. Keywords: Motor Fitness Profile and Football Referees

A Review of Optimization Approach to Power Flow Tracing in a Deregulated Power System

    Get PDF
Power Flow Tracing (PFT) is known to be the best method in the allocation of charges to users of transmission systems, generators and loads, in a deregulated environment. The optimization approach to PFT produced better results than other methods because it considers the physical power flow results and electrical constraints of the system. A brief review of the optimal power flow concept, PFT techniques, and the deterministic and non-deterministic optimization methods applied to PFT are presented. The paper also highlighted the future trends of hybrid optimization approach to PFT. It is recommended that more research work should be directed on the hybrid optimization methods to solve PFT problems

Universities hold a strategic role in society as the teaching university, the research university, and the bastion of civilization. In this decade, the challenges of the universities become more complex where a paradigm shift in the universities occur such as: (1) the shifting of the role of the universities due to the influence of the globalization; (2) the scarcity of resources in response to changes with the proper way; (3) the development of the science and technology which accelerates rapidly; and (4) the development of the rapid entrepreneurial culture. Some important and fundamental issues facing the universities college in Indonesia today is that the existence of the universities college in Indonesia still faces a number of obstacles in the policy, the implementation, the monitoring, and the evaluation. Moreover, the issue of quality and the relevance of outputs of the universities have not contributed optimally in the world of industry and society. The universities have not optimally been able to become the important sectorwhich can produce a significant number of entrepreneurs with the orientation of job creation and self-reliance. Based on the background of this grant research above, it can be concluded that the strategy of private universities towards the world class or high quality is studied. The method used was a qualitative research consisting of studying literature, conducting interviews, and distributing questionnaires to the informants in the universities in four provinces or cities in the area of The coordinator of The Private UniversitiesII of the southern sumatra and the analysis models. The following method used a quantitative method to measure the parameters of the performance of the universities and entrepreneurial growths of the universities. According to the results of the research in the first, second, and third year, a model to improve the e-governance-based quality to the universities through the research focus, the entrepreneurship, and the development of the resources was developed in the area of The coordinator of The Private Universities II of the southern sumatra. The final result of the improvement of e-governance-based quality in the universities in southern sumatra was the manifestation of the policy of the ministry of the higher education and research in implementing the management of the world-class universities, the scientific publications, and the reference textbooks

THE STUDY OF ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MONTMORILLONITE CLAY POLYESTER NANO-COMPOSITE

    Get PDF
Montmorillonite clay polyester nano composite were successfully prepared by melt insertion method at 5wt%, 10wt%, 15wt%, 20wt% and 25wt% of Montmorillonite clay. The electrical and mechanical properties of the produced composites were studied. Five specimens for each test was analysed. Results obtained indicates that while a drastic decrease in the impact energy of 100 was observed, the maximum tensile strength and young’s modulus values of 50.27 MPa and 8.7 GPa respectively were obtained at 10% filler concentration. The compressive strength increases by 48% and 100% at 15wt% and 20wt% filler concentration respectively. An increase in dielectric strength ( 100%) and capacitance (32%) of the samples with each filler addition of up to 25% with 3 times increase in hardness at 25wt%. was observed
