MIMAC-He3 : MIcro-tpc MAtrix of Chambers of He3
The project of a micro-TPC matrix of chambers of He3 for direct detection of
non-baryonic dark matter is outlined. The privileged properties of He3 are
highlighted. The double detection (ionization - projection of tracks) will
assure the electron-recoil discrimination. The complementarity of MIMAC-He3 for
supersymmetric dark matter search with respect to other experiments is
illustrated. The modular character of the detector allows to have different
gases to get A-dependence. The pressure degreee of freedom gives the
possibility to work at high and low pressure. The low pressure regime gives the
possibility to get the directionality of the tracks. The first measurements of
ionization at very few keVs for He3 in He4 gas are described
The CORALIE survey for southern extrasolar planets. XVI. Discovery of a planetary system around HD 147018 and of two long period and massive planets orbiting HD 171238 and HD 204313
We report the detection of a double planetary system around HD 140718 as well
as the discovery of two long period and massive planets orbiting HD 171238 and
HD 204313. Those discoveries were made with the CORALIE Echelle spectrograph
mounted on the 1.2-m Euler Swiss telescope located at La Silla Observatory,
Chile. The planetary system orbiting the nearby G9 dwarf HD 147018 is composed
of an eccentric inner planet (e=0.47) with twice the mass of Jupiter (2.1 MJup
) and with an orbital period of 44.24 days. The outer planet is even more
massive (6.6 MJup) with a slightly eccentric orbit (e=0.13) and a period of
1008 days. The planet orbiting HD 171238 has a minimum mass of 2.6 MJup, a
period of 1523 days and an eccentricity of 0.40. It orbits a G8 dwarfs at 2.5
AU. The last planet, HD 204313 b, is a 4.0 MJup -planet with a period of 5.3
years and has a low eccentricity (e = 0.13). It orbits a G5 dwarfs at 3.1 AU.
The three parent stars are metal rich, which further strengthened the case that
massive planets tend to form around metal rich stars.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in A&
MIMAC : Detection of low energy recoils for Dark Matter search
The MIMAC project is based on a matrix of Micro Time Projection Chambers
(micro-TPC) for Dark Matter search, filled with He3 or CF4 and using ionization
and tracks. The first measurement of the energy resolution of this micro-TPC is
presented as well as its low thresholdComment: Dark Energy and Dark Matter conference, Lyon : France (2008
New family of potentials with analytical twiston-like solutions
In this letter we present a new approach to find analytical twiston models.
The effective two-field model was constructed by a non-trivial combination of
two one field systems. In such an approach we successfully build analytical
models which are satisfied by a combination of two defect-like solutions, where
one is responsible to twist the molecular chain by , while the other
implies in a longitudinal movement. Such a longitudinal movement can be fitted
to have the size of the distance between adjacent molecular groups. The
procedure works nicely and can be used to describe the dynamics of several
other molecular chains.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Instabilities and the roton spectrum of a quasi-1D Bose-Einstein condensed gas with dipole-dipole interactions
We point out the possibility of having a roton-type excitation spectrum in a
quasi-1D Bose-Einstein condensate with dipole-dipole interactions. Normally
such a system is quite unstable due to the attractive portion of the dipolar
interaction. However, by reversing the sign of the dipolar interaction using
either a rotating magnetic field or a laser with circular polarization, a
stable cigar-shaped configuration can be achieved whose spectrum contains a
`roton' minimum analogous to that found in helium II. Dipolar gases also offer
the exciting prospect to tune the depth of this `roton' minimum by directly
controlling the interparticle interaction strength. When the minimum touches
the zero-energy axis the system is once again unstable, possibly to the
formation of a density wave.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures. Special Issue: "Ultracold Polar Molecules:

Development of a front end ASIC for Dark Matter directional detection with MIMAC
A front end ASIC (BiCMOS-SiGe 0.35 \mum) has been developed within the
framework of the MIMAC detector project, which aims at directional detection of
non-baryonic Dark Matter. This search strategy requires 3D reconstruction of
low energy (a few keV) tracks with a gaseous \muTPC. The development of this
front end ASIC is a key point of the project, allowing the 3D track
reconstruction. Each ASIC monitors 16 strips of pixels with charge
preamplifiers and their time over threshold is provided in real time by current
discriminators via two serializing LVDS links working at 320 MHz. The charge is
summed over the 16 strips and provided via a shaper. These specifications have
been chosen in order to build an auto triggered electronics. An acquisition
board and the related software were developed in order to validate this
methodology on a prototype chamber. The prototype detector presents an anode
where 2 x 96 strips of pixels are monitored.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figure
