New Constraints on Methane Fluxes and Rates of Anaerobic Methane Oxidation in a Gulf of Mexico Brine Pool via In Situ Mass Spectrometry
Deep-sea biogeochemical cycles are, in general, poorly understood owing to the difficulties of making measurements in situ, recovering samples with minimal perturbation, and, in many cases, coping with high spatial and temporal heterogeneity. In particular, biogeochemical fluxes of volatiles such as methane remain largely unconstrained because of the difficulties with accurate quantification in situ and the patchiness of point sources such as seeps and brine pools. To better constrain biogeochemical fluxes and cycling, we have developed a deep-sea in situ mass spectrometer (ISMS) to enable high-resolution quantification of volatiles in situ. Here we report direct measurements of methane concentrations made in a Gulf of Mexico brine pool located at a depth of over 2300 m. Concentrations of up to 33 mM methane were observed within the brine pool, whereas concentrations in the water directly above were three orders of magnitude lower. These direct measurements enabled us to make the first accurate estimates of the diffusive flux from a brine pool, calculated to be . Integrated rate measurements of aerobic methane oxidation in the water column overlying the brine pool were , accounting at most for just 0.03% of the diffusive methane flux from the brine pool. Calculated rates of anaerobic methane oxidation were , one to two orders of magnitude higher than previously published values of AOM in anoxic fluids. These findings suggest that brine pools are enormous point sources of methane in the deep sea, and may, in aggregate, have a pronounced impact on the global marine methane cycle.Organismic and Evolutionary Biolog
MODELLING OF THE BAGULAR ANEURYSMS OF THE WALL OF THE BLOOD VESSEL TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE BLOOD
The article presents some results of the modeling of the bag-like aneurysm by the finite element method. The model takes into account the specificity of the blood flow from the point of view of various rheological models, as well as a significant change in the shape of the saccular aneurysm depending on pressure
ANALYSIS OF MEANS OF IMITATION MODELING USED FOR THE STUDY OF MANAGEMENT PROCESSES IN MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
The article considers the common media of event and multiparadigmatic modelling, as applied to the modelling of the processes of medical institutions to serve the public. The possibilities of managing these processes and optimizing the use of available resources are considered. Formulated recommendations on the use of computer environments in the analysis of business processes and processes of care for the population
SOFTWARE COMPLEX FOR PARTS RECOGNITION AS THE BASIS OF EDUCATIONAL LABORATORY WORK
The article discusses the scientific and methodological foundations of laboratory work in vision systems using the author's algorithms for pattern recognition. The results were used to prepare masters of technical specialties at the Pskov State University. Another approach to using digital technologies for processing images of the working area is proposed. Some aspects of solving problems of identification of parts, determination of their location, control in automated assembly is described. The hardware-software complex in the article performs data processing and measurements in parallel with the flow of the technological process. The hardware and software complex expands the capabilities of flexible assembly platforms when assembling parts with different mass-inertial characteristics due to the geometric shape and dissimilar materials
MODIFICATION OF THE MINIMAL BERGMAN MODEL OF THE "INSULIN-GLUCOSE" SYSTEM AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN MATLAB/SIMULINK
The article discusses a modification of Bergman's minimal mathematical model of the "insulin-glucose" system, which allows simulating controlled exogenous sources of glucose and insulin into the patient's blood on the model and investigating the dynamics of changes in their concentrations in normal conditions, in type I DM and type II DM. A modeling scheme is presented in graphic notations of the MatLab / Simulink computer mathematics system and a number of computational experiments on it are described to determine the type of glycemic profiles of glucose and insulin concentration in the patient's blood in the noted situations. The fundamental possibility of using model mappings in the MatLab/Simulink environment for the study and tuning of the loop for automatic regulation of the "insulin-glucose" balance in the patient's blood using a controlled insulin pump is demonstrated. It was also found that the modified minimal model can be customized for a specific patient with diabetes, which makes it possible to use it to solve the problems of individual prediction of the development of a diabetic disease in a specific patient. In addition, the described model makes it possible to recreate and virtually investigate various conditions and cases on it that affect the dynamics of insulin and glucose concentrations in the patient's blood, for example, when he performs physically stressed activities, in the presence of the effects of “aging” of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. iron, etc.

RESEARCH OF APPROACHES TO CONSTRUCTING PREDICTIVE MODELS OF THE SPREAD OF VIRAL DISEASES
The article is devoted to the analysis of the available mathematical models in epidemiology and the possibility of their modification. We note that the situation with the COVID-19 virus pandemic is characterized by several features not comprehensively studied in the existing models. For a rational response to existing challenges, it is necessary to have a predictive and analytical apparatus in the complex (national and regional scale) mathematical models with a planning horizon of 2 years (the expected period of mass production of vaccines). The article discusses the existing approaches to predicting the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Russia based on mathematical models of epidemics. The possibilities and limitations of the proposed approaches are considered. In the conditions of the Russian Federation, transport connectivity at the interregional and intraregional levels plays an important role, and for megalopolises - transport flows within large agglomerations and the age structure of the population. In contrast to previous pandemics and epidemics, public policy plays a significant role. The approach, which consist in building multi-agent models that combine the advantages of compartment models and models based on the Monte Carlo method (individually oriented) is proposed by the authors. It is planned to use compartment models to assess the dynamics of the process and individually-oriented models - at the level of individual territories and districts.
MODELING THE OPERATION OF A GALVANIC BATH WITH ELECTRIC HEATERS AND OPTIMIZING ITS DESIGN BASED ON NUMERICAL SIMULATION
A model of the processes in a galvanic bath during heating is based on the finite element method. The processes of heating the air chamber and directly the reagent solution are simulated. Based on the constructed model, an automatic control system for heating elements is being developed, which provides a sufficient heating rate, a stable temperature and protects the heating elements from burnout. An application program has been created that allows performing the calculations without studying complex modeling systems.
