Institution is to attain high level of productivity; efficient and effective leadership must be provided thereby enhancing the overall job performance of the entire personnel. This study therefore examined leadership styles as determinants of library personnel’s job performance in public university libraries in North-Central Nigeria. The Paper adopted a survey research design of a survey method in order to objectively collect information from the respondents. The population for the study was 421 (140 librarians and 281 library officers and library assistants) in public universities in North Central states in Nigeria while, total enumeration was adopted for the selection of 421 research subjects used in this study. Data were collected using a self-developed, validated, pretested (Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient value of 0.801, and 0.750) and administered questionnaire titled “Leadership Style and Job Performance Assessment Questionnaire (LSJPAQ)” which was designed through the extensive literature review. The results revealed that, democratic leadership style was most adopted or exhibited by librarians/library managers (average of 3.51) while, librarians/library managers do not exhibit or adopt the autocratic and laissez-faire styles of leadership (grand of 2.95 and 1.93 respectively) in public university libraries in North-Central Nigeria. The study also showed that the performance of library personnel in the studied universities in North-Central Nigeria was very good (grand of 3.24). Findings from the tested null hypotheses revealed that, there was a positive correlation between leadership style and library personnel job performance (r = 0.542, p \u3c .05). Based on the findings observed, it was recommended that Librarians/library managers should employ a mixture of autocratic and democratic style of leadership in their library administration in order to enhance better job performance among library personnel; and the use of laissez-faire leadership style should be discouraged by librarians/library managers as it could not bring a better job performance among library personnel

Application of bat algorithm for the detection of hidden nodes in IEEE802.11ah networks

The occurrence of the hidden node problem in IEEE802.11ah has increases by 41% as compared to previous versions of IEEE802.11 standards. This makes IEEE802.11ah network to be prone to experience high collision and low throughput. Previous efforts to solve this problem has mainly not addressed the issue of locating potential hidden nodes in the network. As a result, the hidden node problem in IEEE802.11ah still remains an open issue. This paper proposes an algorithm that applies bat algorithm for detecting hidden nodes in IEEE802.11ah networks. Our results have shown the effectiveness of this algorithm in detecting hidden nodes. This algorithm can be used to properly manage communication in IEEE802.11ah

This study examined occupational-related stress among university faculty staff and its implications on goal attainment of universities in Kwara State, Nigeria.  The research design was a descriptive research of a cross-sectional survey. Multi-stage sampling technique was used for the selection of 458 faculty staff. Data were collected with the use of 57-item questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed with relevant statistics like percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Findings revealed that the level of stress among faculty staff was high (3.25), while stress level differs based on gender (p<.05), age (p<.01), marital status (p<.01), work experience (p<.05) and ownership of workplace (p<.05). The prominent risk associated with occupational-related stress were the organizational-related (cluster mean 3.26) and role-related (CM 3.26) factors. Finding further indicated that the social support (CM 3.00) and individual-focused (CM 2.91) coping strategies were moderately adopted for managing occupational-related stress among university faculty, while the organizational support coping strategy was utilized to a low extent (CM 2.47). The findings implicate the attainment of university goals because of the negative effect high-stress level will have on the physiological and behavioural state of faculty staff adding to destructive work and health anomalies

The paper examines the evaluation of collection management and student’s use of Arabic materials in the four selected Academic Libraries in Nigeria. A descriptive survey research was used to carry out the investigation. The population was randomly sampled and covered all the matriculated student of the selected institutions that were registered as a library user. The questionnaires were thereafter sent to each of the institutions surveyed to facilitate prompt, high and accurate response from target population. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentages. Findings of the study showed that all the tertiary institutions libraries under study found Arabic materials readily available. Another finding in this study showed that students use the library for seeking their information needs. It has been revealed that facilities are organized for easy use. The finding showed that acquisition and collection polices were evaluated mainly to cater for students information needs. In addition, Arabic students were significantly satisfied with the library collection policy. There is a significant relationship between the libraries Arabic based services/facilities and students educational development. The study concludes that Arabic based services/ facilities can, to a considerable extent, satisfy the information needs of users. The study will benefit researchers, Arabic studies teachers, students and Islamic organization, nation-wide and internationally

A two year old boerboel bitch with dark greenish vaginal discharge and history of over 24 hours of difficult labor was presented to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital University of Ibadan for clinical examination and treatment. The owner had wrongfully given oxytocin after observation of signs of parturition. Following careful physical and clinical examinations of the bitch by Veterinary doctors, dystocia due to obstruction of maternal birth canal by a dead fetus was diagnosed. Treatment regimen was by digital manipulation which stimulated cervical dilatation and careful delivery of dead fetus via the vagina. Thereafter, oxytocin was administered to augment the bitch’s weak uterine contraction. Four weak puppies were delivered out of which three survived following adequate treatment
