Dental Monitoring Application of Simogi to Change Parental Behavior for Maintaining Children Dental Health

Children's oral and dental health needs to be maintained from an early age in order to sustain the integrity of their teeth. A new dental health care monitoring named SIMOGI (Dental Health Monitoring System) application is proposed. This application is used by parents and it’s integrated with dental therapist’s account. The application has features of dental health care checklist and dental danger sign.  The aim of this study is to analyze changes in parental behavior towards the maintenance of children's oral health with the implementation of SIMOGI. This research is an experimental study with pretest and posttest design with control group design. The total sample used is 20 parents of elementary school in grade 3. A behavioral questionnaire on dental and oral health maintenance on knowledge, attitudes and actions were done to measure the effect changes. The category is grouped into bad, fair and good. This experiment ran for 21 days. The analytical test used is univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The results show that in knowledge, there is no effect on control (p-value 1.000) and intervention group (p-value 0.785). There is effect on intervention group’s attitude (p-value 0.018) and no effect on control group (p-value 0.317). There is effect both in intervention (p-value 0.024) and control group (p-value 0.102). There is an effect of using the SIMOGI application on changes in parents' attitudes and actions in maintaining children's dental health. Knowledge of the parents is already in the good category

Implementasi Sikat Gigi Alarm Dan Vitamin Gigi Secara Mandiri di Sekolah Dasar Wilayah Kecamatan Banyumanik

Dental health is very important aspect, especially in children. The risk of dental disease in children can cause eating disorders and reduced nutritional intake resulting in decreased body weight and suboptimal child growth and development. According to National Basic Health Research, the prevalence of cavities in early childhood is very high, namely 93%, meaning that only 7% of Indonesian children are free from dental caries In 2030. To support government programs, it is necessary to carry out promotive and preventive activities, namely by carrying out Community Partnership Program activities by teaching elementary school children how to brush their teeth properly and correctly by making a toothbrush alarm device providing benefits to help students brush their teeth properly in time, namely after breakfast and at night before going to bed and applying dental vitamins. Brushing teeth is a daily activity that is carried out to be able to maintain healthy teeth. Maintaining good and correct tooth brushing behavior can help reduce the risk of caries. The method of implementing this activity is the use of tooth brushing alarms and the implementation of dental vitamins. Management of children by providing dental health education and dental examinations. From this activity parents and teachers gave a positive response proposing MOU cooperation for this partnership activity. Evaluation on Correlation of Gender and Age towards Toothbrushing Knowledge Among Primary School Students

Observation of the level of knowledge is the first step to determine a student's understanding to the basic concepts of a practice. Early assessment of dental health knowledge of children will lead to big contribution to good dental health in future. However, few evaluations of children in different geographic regions regarding genders and age so as to equally treated with dental health strategies. The aim of this study was to explore the level of knowledge and evaluate whether there was a correlation between gender and age to the level of dental health knowledge in terms of toothbrushing in Sangkaragung, Bali. The method of this study was descriptive analytics with total sampling as much as 51 students in grade IV and V SD N 1 Sangkaragung. The evaluation of gender, age and its correlation to the knowledge level of in terms of toothbrushing procedure was performed with statistical analysis of chi-square test. The instrument used questionnaire to ace the level of knowledge with the final result in good, fair and bad criteria. The results shows that p-value is 0,281 which is more than significance 0,05 for the gender. Meanwhile for age, the result of p-value is 0,042 (p-value 0,05). In conclusion, there is no correlation between gender and the level of knowledge of dental health toothbrushing, however, age and of dental health toothbrushing knowledge is correlated among students in SD N 1 Sangkaragung

APLIKASI PROGRAM UKGS INOVATIF IRENE’S DONUTS TERHADAP PERILAKU PEMELIHARAAN KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT SERTA OHI-S PADA ANAK BERKEBUTUHAN KHUSUS (ABK) DI SLB NEGERI SEMARANG

TITLEApplication of innovative UKGS program “irene’s donuts” to oral and dental health behavior and OHI-s of children with special needs in SLB Negeri SemarangABSTRACTChildren with Special Needs (CSN) are children who have abnormalities in the context of education, they should get a special care of the teeth and mouth health from both the teachers at school and the parents at home. Most elementary school CSN in The State Special Elementary School of Semarang 77% suffered from dental caries, so it needs special attention. Irene's Donuts Oral Health School Innovative Program is an innovation program using Irene's Donut's method that have been proven in reducing the risk of caries in the elementary school, so it needs to be tested to primary level CSN The State Special Elementary School of Semarang.The type of this research is a quasi experimental study with a non-randomized pretest-posttest equivalent control group design. This study was conducted on 76 respondents. There were 38 respondents in the control group and 38 respondents in the experimental group.The Pre and Post Test result of Dependent T Test against the Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S) shows that the p value is 0.000. The results of Mann-Whitney test on the behavior of dental and oral health care in the control group and the treatment group shows 0.024 of p value.The conclusion from this research is that there is a difference between the OHI-S before and after the application of Innovative Irene's Donuts program to the CSN in The State Special Elementary School of Semarang. MEDIA PERMAINAN TEBAK GAMBAR EFEKTIF DALAM PENINGKATAN PENGETAHUAN DAN TINDAKAN MENYIKAT GIGI DIBANDINGKAN MEDIA BOOKLET

The high number of dental and oral diseases is influenced by the main factors,  lack of knowledge about oral hygiene and poor diet. Information about dental health and dental care can be obtained from various media both print media and electronic media. Purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of booklet media and picture guessing games to increase knowledge and actions of brushing teeth for students at Padangsari 02 Elementary School Semarang. Study design  is a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post test group with two group design. The population of the researchers is students in grades 4 and 5 at Padangsari 02 Elementary School Semarang. Samples were taken by purposive sampling as many as 50 students, divided into two groups, namely 25 students in the booklet group and 25 students in the guessing game group. The data obtained are analyze using Wilcoxon-test and Mann-Whitney test. There was a significance differences with value of p = 0,000 between knowledge and action before and after of both groups. ,The Mann-Whitney Test showed difference in effectiveness between the two media. Game guess images is more effective than booklet with mean rank of    game guess images and booklte was 29.27 and 24.25

FAKTOR PENYEBAB TERJADINYA KARIES GIGI PADA SISWA SD SAMBIROTO 02 SEMARANG

TITLEThe causative factors of dental caries in students of SD Sambiroto 02 SemarangABSTRACTTooth is part of the masticatory apparatus of the digestive system in the human body. Based on the preliminary study found 45% of students of Sambiroto 02 Elementary School have fixed dental caries, 15% had dental caries milk and 40% have bad oral hygiene. The main problem of oral health in students of Sambiroto 02 Elementary School is dental caries. Dental caries is an infectious disease caused by demineralization of enamel and dentine that is closely related to the consumption of cariogenic foods. Generally, children entering school age have a high risk of caries. This study aims to determine the factors that cause dental caries in students at Sambiroto 02 Elementary School Semarang.This type of research is quantitative descriptive case study method. Data retrieval is done by checking caries (DMF-T) OHIS, Plaque Index, pH Saliva, Viscosity Saliva, Saliva Hydration, as well as the questionnaire for behavioral variables (knowledge, attitudes, practices). Priority problems using odd ratio test showed that the factors causing the most dominant is the practice (p value = 65.0), OHIS (p value = 20.43), and plaque index (p value = 17.0).The results showed that the factor of the practice 50% of respondents with bad category, 62% of respondents with OHIS bad category, and 62% of respondents who had a plaque with bad category. The problem solving are a revitalization program UKGS, cariogenic diet control, brushing teeth together, topical application fluoride / CPP-ACP, dental health education, training of cadres, and filling cavities. Advices to students are expected to increase knowledge as a basis for understanding the attitude and behavior are good on prevent dental care that are not easily affected by caries, and suggestions presented to the teachers to always give motivation to students to always maintain dental health. Keywords : Caries, students Primary School Sambiroto

Peranan Pasta Manggis terhadap Kesembuhan Ulkus Akibat Luka Gores (Pemeriksaan Histo Patologi Anatomi)

The objective of study is to know impact of pasta rind mangosteen applied topically towards gradation of traumatic ulcer healing reviewed HPA. The method was experimental research, pre-posttest control group design, randomized sampling technique with  total sampel of 12 Male Wistar rats divided into 2 groups @ 6 applied pasta rind mangosteen and the other used standard gel. Some rats in each group euthanized day 3rd, 7th and 10th. The gradation of ulcer healing day 3rd, 7th and 10th showed decrease in both PMN and macrophage and increase fibroblast cells. Based on statistical test day 10th, there was no difference amount of PMN, macrophage and fibroblast cells between standard gel and pasta rind mangosteen. In conclusion usage of pasta rind mangosteen topical could be safe, reduced inflammation and accelerated of traumatic ulcer healing
