    Web-based knowledge management model for managing and sharing green knowledge of software development in community of practice

    Emerging awareness of sustainability matters urge the people go for green computing as solution to the environmental problems. There were a lot of previous researches studied about hardware solution, and only few papers that focused on green software area. However, there is lacking of research that discusses about how to implement knowledge management method to manage the green knowledge of software development. As we know that software development is an important role in supporting the IT community, hence the unmanaged green knowledge of software development will lead to the problem of unable to meet both the environmental and business demands to the community. Therefore, this research will focus on proposing a model that applies web-based knowledge management system to manage and share the green knowledge of software development among the members of community of practice in software development environment

    A systematic literature review of green software development in collaborative knowledge management environment

    Background: Main asset in software industry is knowledge of employees who work in software development. Knowledge is main asset to succeed in green sustainable development. There is no research about to implement techniques of Knowledge Management (KM) in order to help in managing knowledge of Green Software Development (GSD). This is the research gap. Aims: This paper assesses literature on GSD in regards to the evolution of green computing, and discusses about how KM comes in to assist in managing the knowledge of GSD. Method: This study reviews current status of GSD by using tertiary study to review articles. A standard systematic literature review method is carried out to employ a manual search. Focus domains, knowledge areas and measurements of GSD will be identified so that can distill a common understanding of the state of the art GSD. Then, discussion about how KM comes in to assist CoP in managing their knowledge of GSD will be carried out in detailed. Results: 37 articles are chosen as primary studies. Among all focus domains, GSD life cycle gains highest interest. Knowledge area of energy efficiency receives the highest attention. Measurement for power consumption obtains the greatest priority to measure “greenness” of software developed. Conclusion: Focuses covered by GSD are limited. Researchers are encouraged to study about diverse areas of GSD. Our future work is to develop model of GSD which involving KM process to ensure members of CoP in software environment able to manage their knowledge and sustain best practices of GSD for the future

There are several problems regarding communicating and using the knowledge in REP such as misunderstanding, being out of scope, conflicting information and changes of requirements. All of these problems occurred in transmitting the requirements knowledge during REP. Several researches have been done in REP in order to solve the problem towards requirements. Knowledge Audit (KA) approaches were proposed in order to solve managing knowledge in human resources, financial, and manufacturing.     Utilising crowdsourcing method through BetterCity mobile apps: a case of Tampin district community

    Nowadays, crowdsourcing has become the hype in knowledge acquisition and diffusion. It is a powerful method that promotes speedy information gathering and at the same time yields better results compared to other similar methods. Increasingly, crowdsourcing has also been actively used for reaching solutions to complex problems. Based on these premises, as well as to demonstrate our social responsibility towards the surrounding community, this paper aims to put fourth our effort through BetterCity while exploiting the advantages of crowdsourcing. It is a mobile application for iOS, which acts as an intermediary between local authority and residents specifically in issues reporting and handling. BetterCity makes the flow of issues reporting easier, achieves complete details of public report, allows the public to contribute information, and most importantly, creates a sense of community by cultivating responsible people to their local areas, together with the local authority

    A knowledge audit model for requirement elicitation: a case study to assess knowledge in requirement elicitation

    This paper aims to develop a knowledge audit (KA) model with the focus on knowledge assessment in the requirements elicitation process (REP) to allay the problems of REP regarding knowledge communication. The principal problems with REP are knowledge conflict and the failure to mention a variety of knowledge and requirements changes. Despite of many existing studies relating to KA, inadequate effort has been directed towards investigating the full part played by the KA process in REP. The purpose of this paper is to bridge this gap using a software prototype that uses the KA model in the REP. This study proposes a KA model using an iterative triangulation method. The proposed model is validated through a case study by using a software prototype developed based on the proposed KA model to see if this KA model is effective for software developers in REP by improving the completeness, correctness, and understandability of the elicited requirements knowledge. Research findings are based on responses of 40 respondents from software development organizations. The results of case study confirmed the effectiveness of KA model for REP with respect to completeness, correctness, and understandability. This research answers the call to assess knowledge in REP by developing a KA model and prototype to fill the existing gap in this area. Overall, a KA model for REP is introduced and validated to identify and assess knowledge that supports knowledge communication in REP

    Improving the governance of software maintenance process for agile software development team

    Software maintenance is one of the most debated phases in software development process for so many years. Having reputed as the most expensive phase of software develo pment life cycle (SDLC), it utilizes the maximum share of the overall project costs as well as time. Agile software development provides opportunities to assess the direction of a project throughout the development lifecycle. However, it does not ideally map with the existing software maintenance process. One of the highlighted issues is the difficulty for searching of information as well as lack of knowledge to solve the maintenance problems within certain time frame. Thus, the main objective of this study is to improve the governance of software maintenance process in an Agile development team. In doing so, a tool named Axita is developed to assist the software maintenance team for storing of information in central data repository and managing projects in more efficient and timely manner. Based on the literature review as well as mapping between the agile software development and the existing ISO software maintenance process, we also proposed six best practices to better govern the software maintenance process in an Agile development team, to overcome the difficulty of information finding and reduce the time spent to solve the maintenance issues. . We believe that our study and findings complement the efforts that have been put forth in improving the way we manage software maintenance thus enhance the efficiency of the software development process

In this research we will review the security and privacy challenges that affect critical data in cloud computing and identify solutions that are used to address these challenges.     Motivational factors influencing the use of massive open online courses (MOOCS) for continuing professional development: a systematic literature review

    Since the term Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) was first coined in 2008, it has been dubbed as the disruptive technology in higher education. MOOCs have attracted massive number of users as the provider of open education to unlimited number of participants. As we embrace the impacts from the rapid transformations in the fourth industrial revolution, there has been a greater need to prepare the workforce to face the challenges that come with the change and one way is to see education as a development tool. While online learning is not new, MOOCs are undeniably making quality education accessible even to working adult learners who are looking for the opportunities of upskilling and reskilling their work talent. There is little research on MOOCs as supporting tools for Continuing Professional Development (CPD)in corporate settings, with researches mainly focusing on the learners from higher learning institutions. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the literature on the motivational factors that influence the use of MOOCs for CPD. Findings show that the relevant literature is limited. The papers included in the review were classified into motivational factors from employers and employees’ perspectives. Both categories identified professional development as one of the key factors influencing the use of MOOCs within the organizations

    Critical success factors and their influence in ERP implementation success of organizational performance

    Effectiveness and efficiency of ERP execution is depending on the organization implementation. Every company that embarks on ERP execution will definitely hope that the execution will be success and effective. The concept of Critical Success Factors (CSFs) early emerged in 1961. Many studies have been conducted in order to analyze on the most CSFs. Few only intended di-rectly to focus on organizational performance. A conceptual model will be developing to show the relationship between all the selected CSFs towards organizational performance in making sure the successful of ERP implementation in the organization. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) has been done in order to gain the CSFs. Completely target CSFs will be list out and traceability matrix table will be produce due to the priority of organizational performance. Pilot study has been conducting to proof the conceptual model suggest. A questionnaire has been distributed to 30 industry respondents. Results from this questionnaire survey than will demonstrate either the CSFs is really effect the successful execution of ERP in organizational performance or need to do changes based on the outcome. This paper proposes specific CSFs that influence directly to ERP execution success towards organizational performance. These will be very useful to organization in order to check on the organizational performance towards the successful implementation of ERP

    There is a great deal of knowledge in requirement elicitation process (REP), because there are different stakeholders with various knowledge backgrounds. Different backgrounds of knowledge lead to different ways of knowledge expression that negatively affect knowledge understandability and cause ambiguity. Knowledge ambiguity results in incorrect interpretation of knowledge and requirements. On the other hand, different stakeholders have different needs and expectations from the software to be developed. This problem causes conflicting information and also negatively affects the correctness of knowledge. Furthermore, stakeholders may ignore mentioning some knowledge because they think it is obvious or their requirements change over time, this negatively affects completeness of knowledge in REP. To mitigate these problems, it is necessary to identify and assess the knowledge in REP. Knowledge Audit (KA) is the process of knowledge analysis and assessment.
