Importer relationship performance in Latin America: The role of trust and commitment
Firms from emerging markets are increasingly developing relationships with foreign suppliers, although international relationships are difficult to manage due to differences between countries. Relationship marketing research has focused mainly on the export marketing activities of firms and much less attention has been given to the import side of the exchange process. Furthermore, most research has been conducted in developed countries; therefore, more research is needed in emerging markets for a wider generalization of relationship marketing theory. Thus, the objective of this study is to empirically examine the antecedents of importer relationship performance in a Latin American context. A conceptual model that includes the antecedents and outcomes of trust and commitment was developed and tested. The data was collected from a survey of Chilean importers. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to develop the construct measures and structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the model. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of the driving forces of trust and commitment and their influence on importing firms' performance in a Latin American developing country perspectiv
Finite Nuclear Size Effect to the Fine Structure of Heavy Muonic Atoms
The finite-nuclear size correction to the fine structure of muonic atoms are
considered. The procedure for the analytical calculation of the energies and
wave functions has been derived in a homogeneously charged sphere nuclear
charge distribution approximation. The finite-nuclear size effect was
calculated in a first few orders of the perturbation energy, with the accurate
estimations of the convergence. Finally, we present energies of the low-lying
electronic and muonic states with the finite-nuclear size correction,
calculated analytically, for ion

The Effect of using Learning Journals on Developing Self-Regulated Learning and Reflective Thinking among Pre-Service Teachers in Jordan
This study aimed to investigate the effect of using learning journals on self-regulated learning and reflective thinking among a sample of pre-service teachers enrolled in Educational Psychology course at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Arts (FESA) in Jordan. The study sample consisted of (61) participants. To achieve the purpose of the study, the self-regulated learning and reflective thinking scales were applied after verifying their psychometric properties on the study sample. The findings of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences between the means of the subjects' responses on the domains of the reflective thinking scale in the pre and post-tests in favor of the experimental group. The results also revealed that there are statistically significant differences among the means of the subjects' responses on the domains of self-regulated learning in the pre and post-tests in favor of the experimental group. The study concluded with some recommendations the most important of which are using learning journals in teaching and learning, especially for pre-service teachers, and training them on using learning journals, and finally conducting further research studies to examine the effect of learning journals on other variables such as students' achievement, self-confidence, professional development, and attitudes towards the teaching profession. Keywords: learning journals; self-regulated learning; reflective thinking; educational psychology, pre-service teachers

Rethinking avoidance of English phrasal verbs by Arab learners
2010 Summer.Includes bibliographic references (pages 209-227).Covers not scanned.Print version deaccessioned 2022.There is a long-standing controversy about the causes of underproduction (avoidance) of structures in second language learning/acquisition. A significant field of research has focused on one lexicalized phrase, the English phrasal verb. The present study explores the cultural dimensions of the avoidance of English phrasal verbs among 160 Arab learners of English. It examines the impact of educational background (EFL, ESL), levels of proficiency (advanced, intermediate), and the inherent semantic complexity of phrasal verb (literal, semi-transparent, figurative) on the avoidance of phrasal verbs. It also explores the role the environmental background plays in comprehending phrasal verbs. Although Arab learners in the study tended to under-use English phrasal verbs, there were significant developmental differences ranging from avoidance to nonavoidance based on participants’ educational background and level of proficiency and the semantic properties of phrasal verbs. This study calls into question straightforward interpretation of the avoidance phenomenon. Although these findings support previous studies’ results, they do not support previous studies that show that L1-L2 differences might motivate learners to develop a genuine avoidance; Arab learners in this study did not avoid literal phrasal verbs. The study offers interesting clues to the success of advanced ESL students in learning and mastering phrasal verbs

Mapping the Conceptualization of Gender in Gambling Literature
This study maps the existing conceptualization of gender in peer-reviewed gambling scholarship to locate areas of future inquiry for a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between gender and gambling. In this study, we located the literature relevant to the conceptualization of gender in gambling published between 2000-2020 by searching eight academic databases using Boolean operators and various key search terms, yielding 31,533 results. After a thorough screening based on inclusion/exclusion criteria and excluding duplicates, we located 2,532 journal publications that addressed gender and gambling. Among them, 53.4% used gender as a descriptive demographic variable, 44.3% explored the comparative analysis between men\u27s and women\u27s gambling behaviours, preferences, and risks, and only 2.3% focused on gender from a socio-cultural perspective. When articles mentioned gender, we found that it was primarily considered a descriptive demographic variable and an indicator of comparative analysis between men and women. Furthermore, the few articles that discussed the socio-cultural aspects of gender were mainly limited to a binary construction of gender. This study concludes that there is a scarcity of socio-cultural studies of gender in gambling scholarship, indicating the need to expand socio-cultural analysis in research on gender and gambling.
Through an in-depth and more comprehensive understanding of gender and gambling, we can fully address the lived realities of the men and women who gamble when making evidence-based recommendations to inform and support prevention practices, reducing gambling harm and risk, intervention protocols, and healthy outcomes of gambling practices and policies
