Quantum tunneling of a complex systems: effects of finite size and intrinsic structure
A simple model is considered to study the effects of finite size and internal
structure in the tunneling of bound two-body systems through a potential
barrier. It is demonstrated that these effects are able to increase the
tunneling probability. Applications may include nuclear fusion, hydrogen atom
and Cooper pair tunneling.Comment: 9 page
Bremsstrahlung radiation by a tunneling particle
We study the bremsstrahlung radiation of a tunneling charged particle in a
time-dependent picture. In particular, we treat the case of bremsstrahlung
during alpha-decay, which has been suggested as a promissing tool to
investigate the problem of tunneling times. We show deviations of the numerical
results from the semiclassical estimates. A standard assumption of a preformed
particle inside the well leads to sharp high-frequency lines in the
bremsstrahlung emission. These lines correspond to "quantum beats" of the
internal part of the wavefunction during tunneling arising from the
interference of the neighboring resonances in the well.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
The paper considers a mathematical model of loosely-coupled inertial-satellite navigation complex which has been developed in the class of linear discrete stochastic models. A specific feature of the considered algorithms for integration of navigation data is the possibility to use parametrical optimum evaluation of the linear Kalman filters constructed on the basis of equations. Strap-down inertial reference system of routes and vertical, strap-down inertial navigation system, geomagnetic orientation system, system of air signals, satellite radio-navigation system have been used as sources of initial navigation data. The considered navigation complex allows to obtain the whole spectrum of flight navigation parameters which are necessary for flight operation of a tactical unmanned aircraft.

New Cl(p,)Ar reaction rate for astrophysical rp-process calculations
The Cl(p,)Ar reaction rate is of potential importance
in the rp-process powering type I X-ray bursts. Recently Clement et al.
\cite{CBB04} presented new data on excitation energies for low lying proton
unbound states in Ar obtained with a new method developed at the
National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. We use their data, together with
a direct capture model and a USD shell model calculation to derive a new
reaction rate for use in astrophysical model calculations. In particular, we
take into account capture on the first excited state in Cl, and also
present a realistic estimate of the remaining uncertainties. We find that the
Cl(p,)Ar reaction rate is dominated entirely by capture
on the first excited state in Cl over the whole temperature range
relevant in X-ray bursts. In the temperature range from 0.2 to 1 GK the rate is
up to a factor of 70 larger than the previously recommended rate based on shell
model calculations only. The uncertainty is now reduced from up to a factor of
1000 to a factor of 3 at 0.3-0.7 GK and a factor of 6 at 1.5 GK.Comment: To be published in Phys. Rev.
