Assessing the Skillset Impacting the Readiness of HVAC Bachelor\u27s Final Year Students for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0)
The Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) represents a transformative phase in industrial development, characterized by advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS). This shift poses significant challenges and opportunities for industries, including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Addressing the readiness of HVAC students for IR 4.0, this study investigates the gap in skills and competencies required in this new era. It specifically examines the preparedness of final year bachelor’s degree students in HVAC, focusing on the balance between technical and non-technical skills. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, the study involved a sample of 100 final year HVAC students from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). A structured questionnaire, developed based on a thorough literature review and validated through expert reviews and a pilot study, was used to collect data. The questionnaire assessed students\u27 self-evaluation of their readiness, understanding of technical skills, and development of non-technical skills relevant to IR 4.0. The analysis revealed that students possess a high level of perceived readiness for IR 4.0, with non-technical skills emerging as significant contributors to their preparedness. These skills accounted for 44% of the variance in students\u27 readiness. The findings underscore the importance of integrating non-technical skills into the HVAC curriculum, highlighting their role in equipping students to navigate the evolving technological landscape of IR 4.0. In conclusion, the study provides comprehensive insights into the skillsets necessary for HVAC students to thrive in the IR 4.0 era. Developing an E-Portfolio Model for Malaysian Skills Certification
The rapid development of ICT nowadays demands that the vocational education system in Malaysia needs to change for improvement in the quality of technology-based learning systems. The Malaysia Skills Certification (MSC) E-portfolio model was developed in this study to improve the existing portfolio used for MSC purposes. This study was conducted to verify the MSC E-portfolio measurement model. Respondents involved in this study were 350 MSC instructors from Institute of Public Skills Training in Malaysia, where 200 respondents were selected from institution under the Ministry of Human Resources and 150 respondents were under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Malaysia. The total size of the respondent is based on the sample size formula of Krejcie and Morgan and the sample was determined using a stratified random sampling method. A questionnaire was used to obtain the research data. Rasch measurement model approach using Winsteps software was used to carry out questionnaire checks in terms of reliability and the validity of the instrument. Verification of content validity and reliability is done by 7 experts through a modified Delphi method. All 38 indicators that measure the MSC E-portfolio elements have high reliability and validity based on internal consistency analysis, indicator reliability, convergent validity and discriminant validity. This shows that a combination of all these four elements can produce an E - portfolio system that is more systematic and multi-purpose, as the concept of e-portfolios are still least applied in the education system. Overall, it can be concluded that the E-portfolio MSC constructs influenced by four major factors which are, operating systems, assessment of competence, Recognition of Prior Achievement (RPA) and virtual learning space. This study also directly gives a new dimension to the MSC system from the aspect of student competency assessment, interactive learning, safety safer storage of learning materials and provide a more systematic knowledge management space

An Effectiveness of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Self Instructional Manual for Students’ Assignment Achievement
High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is an important aspect of teaching and learning. An individual’s
thinking can affect learning ability, learning speed and effectiveness of learning. The weakness in implementing
HOTS is one of the reasons for a student not being creative in solving all the problems that arise. The purpose of this
study was to evaluate the effectiveness of HOTS’s Self-Instructional Manual (SIM) in teaching and learning for
assignment achievement among polytechnic students. This study uses a quantitative approach and the Quasi
Experimental design - “Pretest-Posttest Non-equivalent Comparison Group Design” consisting of one Treatment
Group (TG) and one Control Group (CG) involving 78 students at Polytechnic of Sultan Abdul Halim Muad'zam
Shah. The assignment evaluation rubric was modified to assess the level of students’ assignment achievement. The
findings showed that most of the students for TG and CG achieved good result in the individual pre-assignment.
Additionally, there is a significant difference mean scores of individual post assignment between TG and CG.
Students for TG achieved excellent result in the individual post assignments. However, students for CG only
achieved good result in the individual post assignments. This means that HOTS Self-Instructional Manual has a
significant impact on the student assignments achievement. Therefore, we encourage all students of higher education
institutions to use Self-Instructional Manual in teaching and learning in order to score better achievement especially
in the course work
