Gelatin Properties of Goat Skin Produced by Calcium Hydroxide as Curing Material

Application of strong bases as curing materials has been widely applied in commercial gelatin industries, but the application of weak bases has not been much done. Application of strong bases as a treatment was not economical and assumed to affect human health. Studies were conducted on the properties of goat skin gelatin manufactured using weak base types of Ca(OH)2 and then compared with properties of commercial gelatin. Skins from Bligon goats of 1.5 to 2.5 years old was used as the raw materials and Ca(OH)2 100 g/l as curing materials. The 2x3 factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications was used as a design study. Two curing times (2 and 4 days) and three concentrations (3, 6, 9% v/v) were used as treatments, and commercial gelatin (pure (P) by Merck, food grade (Fg) and pharmacy standards (Ps)) were used as control. Gelatin produced from goat skins using Ca(OH)2 had properties similar to that of commercial gelatin. The heavy metals (Pb, Cu and Zn) contained in goat skin gelatin still meet the INS standards. The optimum production of gelatin has been generated through the application of 4-day curing time at a concentration of 9% (v/v)

The Sunni-shi‘ah Conflict and the Search for Peace in Indonesia

This article attempts to scrutinize the phenomenon of theological contestation in Indonesia, as represented by the Sunnite and Shi'ite conflict in the region of Sampang, East Java. The conflict has occurred due to Muslims' inability to withstand the differences among them, so that violence is considered a way of final settlement. In this paper, the author will try, therefore, to analyze theological problems between the Sunnite and the Shi'ite in the region. It has been widely known that the Sunnite and the Shi'ite came out of the basis of similar truth, and, in fact, they share the same spirit of glorifying Islam around the world. In this way, all Muslim communities in the world, including the Sunnite and the Shi'ite, should be able to put their theological differences as God's graces and the blessing of life, not as the point of conflict and disharmony

The Profile of Inquiry Model on Student Activity and Learning Outcomes on Colligative Properties

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil aktivitas guru, aktivitas siswa, afektif siswa, psikomotor siswa, dan hasil belajar siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan evaluasi, serta analisis dan refleksi. Pada aktivitas guru, perbedaan nilai terlihat pada kelas C dengan persentase 76,28% (sangat baik) di siklus pertama menjadi 92,55% (luar biasa) di siklus kedua. Peningkatan juga terjadi pada aspek afektif, kognitif, dan psikomotor siswa. Skor profil dari hasil belajar pada ketiga kelas mencapai skor ketuntasan pada siklus 2, meskipun pada siklus 1 kelas A telah mencapai ketuntasan dengan kelulusan mencapai 85,71%. Selanjutnya, model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing ini dapat meningkatkan afektif, kognitif, dan psikomotor siswa. Oleh sebab itu, hasil belajar siswa pada materi sifat koligatif larutan telah mencapai indikator keberhasilan

Predictive permanent magnet synchronous generator based small-scale wind energy system at dynamic wind speed analysis for residential net-zero energy building

Integration of small-scale wind energy system to residential buildings for a target to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions is a revolutionary step to reduce the dependency on the national grid. In this paper, a predictive 20 kVA permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based small scale wind turbine is investigated at dynamic wind speed with a sensing control system to manage and monitor the power flow for a supply to a typical residential building. A control system is applied that regulates the power from the wind turbine. Results indicate that the proposed control system maximizes the power efficiency within the system. The maximum power generation capacity of the wind turbine is 20 kWh with 415 VAC and 50 Hz frequency. A storage system of 19.2 kWh that supplies the energy to the load side. The applied control unit improves the energy management and protects the power equipment during the faults. The research is conducted using MATLAB/SIMULINK and mathematical formulations
